Mira brought up something else, namely, information about the army’s operation procedures.

「I have a feeling you’re thinking of something interesting again.」

Solomon smiled with curiosity, looking forward to whatever Mira was to come up with.

From then on, Mira began heading out more often, as a way to take a breather from her research, as well as during weekends. This time, she was heading back to Wild Buddy, obviously accompanied by Mariana and Luna again, wanting to try out the newly installed pool.

It was the latter half of summer, but the hot days would continue for a while longer, making it the perfect time to enjoy a day at the pool.

She entered the changing room together with Mariana, where the swimsuit she received from Lily and the maids came in great use, after which Mariana tied up her hair, and she was ready.

She was wearing a bikini, while Mariana had a white one piece swimsuit, having a more modest look.

「You like that one, Luna?」

Wild Buddy offered plenty of pool accessories like diving helmets, surfboards, rubber boats, and so on, all free to borrow. Luna was especially interested in a swim ring from amongst those.

Mira picked up a common red swim ring from the pile and headed to the pool, placing it on the water. Then Luna hopped into the water and skillfully pushed her body into the ring.

After that, she could simply splatter her legs around to move wherever she wanted.

「Watch out down theree!」

Then Mira jumped into the water, creating a wave that began carrying Luna away. But she showed she was capable of making herself stable even against such raging waters, ending with a short proud squeak after making a graceful spin at the end.

「Ohh…so you can handle that. Then let’s see how you deal with a cannonball! Mariana, do it!」

Luna seemed to have a defiant smile, so Mira upped the challenge and gave Mariana the signal to jump in as well.

「As you wish.」

Mariana gave a positive response, and then jumped in just like Mira wanted. Water splashed away, while creating a large wave as well, even bigger than the previous one, carrying Luna away.

Luna faced the wave like she was a professional surfer, confronting a magnificent big wave. She skillfully waved her front legs to steer herself, but the wave was too strong, eventually overpowering her and turning her upside down.

Luna ended up having to swim down to get out of the ring, before turning around and plopping her head back through it, once again positioned upright. After that, she just swam back a little, exposing her belly while admitting defeat.

「Hehe, it was really close.」

The winner, Mariana, happily reached forward to pet Luna’s belly.

「Hmmmm, I would’ve won as well, if my body was bigger too…」

Mira began to sulk, also wishing she had been able to win, and knowing that the difference had come from the impact she made when striking the water, as she had a lower stature and a thinner body. But then she felt a chilling presence behind her.

「Lady Mira…」

Mira twitched and turned around, hearing Mariana’s voice filled with an icy coldness like never before, only to see that her eyes were just as gelid. It was then that Mira realized what she had just said, and how it was something she should have never mentioned.

That topic was taboo around women, no matter how close they were to each other.

And while Mira was oblivious to it, since she was spending so much time at the tower lately, Mariana had also been pushing herself to cook more. At the same time, Mira also wanted to eat together every time, at the very least for dinner.

On top of all that, Mira’s lack of delicacy had made Mariana even more self conscious.

「Ummm… Errr… I mean… I didn’t…well…it’s just…umm…」

Mira could not think of what to say, so she just stood there, her eyes darting around nervously. She ended up looking so comical that Mariana could not help but let out a soft laugh.

「Let’s have a salad party for dinner tonight then.」

While she was smiling, she did not give any room to argue, so Mira just gave a weak nod and said, 「Okay…」

As it began to sink in that her careless comment had erased all meat from her dinner, her thoughts were broken by loud excited barks as a black dog showed up, which seemed really excited about the pool, leaping into the water as soon as possible.

The black dog struck the water right next to where Mira was, and since the dog was as big as an adult male, there was a large splash of water, followed up by a powerful wave.

「Kyukyukyuuiiii!」

Even Mira and Mariana felt overpowered by that big wave, so no matter how hard Luna tried to maintain her balance, she could hardly do anything and found herself tipped upside down again soon.

Luna had to get out of the ring and fix her position once more, after which she turned an indignant look to the source of that wave. But by then, the black dog had already swam away, paddling elegantly without disturbing anyone, almost like the massive splash from earlier had never happened.

「He’s a really good swimmer…」

「Yes, he’s no ordinary doggy.」

The black dog was moving effortlessly on the water, almost like he was running around, which left Mira and Mariana impressed.

Seeing that, Luna slipped out of the ring and tried to swim around, paddling with her four legs, but gave up after a few seconds and returned to the ring, her ears folded down in frustration. But her eyes did not show defeat yet, she was determined to eventually learn to swim properly.

While Luna was making up her mind to become a master swimmer, Mira began to feel like she had seen that dog before. Soon, it all clicked in her head, thanks to the dog’s owner who arrived a bit after his pet.

(Ohhh, that burly man, he’s the hunter I saw before.)

He was the same man she had seen in the hunting section of Wild Buddy the first time she visited the store. Now, he was only wearing light blue shorts, his toned body riddled with scars mostly exposed.

And that meant that the black dog was none other than the black wolf accompanying him back then. Other than his extreme entrance, he was silent even as he swam swiftly, which made sense as a practical skill when hunting.

At the same time, the life surrounded by wilderness of the hunter gave him a very manly appearance, which Mira had always aspired to have herself, but was wholly unattainable for her now.

But there were other people in the pool with feelings towards him, just not the same type of aspiration. Namely, the female clients of Wild Buddy.

All of the new facilities of Wild Buddy were not open to the general public yet, only to customers who had received special entry tickets. The majority of those were given to the most loyal customers, who also happened to largely be women who doted on their pets. Because of that, most of the people in the pool were also women.

With such a crowd, it made sense for many of them to fall for the allure of that hunter, and as everyone there were big pet lovers, that also gave them the perfect way to start talking, having that common trait.

While Mira watched, she also noticed many approached him wanting to praise his black wolf. They really were proactive wanting to approach him, but some seemed to already know him from before.

Meanwhile, the hunter looked slightly uncomfortable, but he did his best to reply earnestly to all of them. He kept his distance, even if he did not necessarily dislike them.

(I see he’s actually quite the popular man. Good for him, good for him.)

The first time Mira saw him, she had the impression that he was a man left behind by the times, trapped in an era past. Now she saw him surrounded by women, who also kept asking him for tips to train their pets. Given their affection for pets, it made sense that they had also noticed the well behaved wolf, and listened attentively to everything the hunter said.

Usually, Mira detested seeing attractive men be the center of attention to the point it made her want to barf, but in this case, she almost appreciated it. It really was a strange situation, but she still wished him happiness, willfully refusing to think whether he was single or married.
