Chapter 233: Chapter 233 Set Sail (Additional Chapter for alliance leader 20220427161247290)
"No, many of the ships here are privately owned by societies and upperclassmen, not all belong to the school."
"Wow, how rich must the seniors be to afford them? We haven’t even bought a Mecha yet."
"Take it slow. At least save some money. You’ll be able to afford a Mecha no matter what. Let me tell you, it’s the Command Department students who are really in despair. The prices of their ships are outrageously high; they might never be able to afford their dream ship in their lifetime and just end up working for others."
"True."
Allu and the others nodded in response.
Just then, Su Ming’s eyelids twitched as he saw from a distance a giant Mother Ship that stretched over 300 kilometers, shaped like a shark with a slender black main cannon protruding from its bow, and its entire body covered in shark tooth-like armor.
At that moment, buses were driving towards the Mother Ship.
"Teacher, what ship is that?"
Su Ming asked, full of curiosity.
"Level 5 Mother Ship, Black Shark, the flagship for this operation."
Mia glanced and replied.
"Are we going to board that ship?"
Rhein and the others crowded around to ask.
"Wishful thinking. We’re boarding a Level 4 Mother Ship, which hasn’t arrived yet!"
"What? We’re boarding a Level 4 Mother Ship? I thought we might experience a Level 5."
"It’s good enough to have something to ride; besides, the Level 5 Mother Ship is heading to the front line. Are you sure you want to ride it?"
"Uh, maybe not then."
Rhein and the others suddenly lost their nerve.
Half an hour later, the bus drove past the Level 5 Mother Ship, Black Shark, toward a 120-kilometer-long Mother Ship in the distance. The ship had a rectangular body with sharp edges, its armor was crimson red, robust, and its surface covered with dense launch ports and interception cannons.
"The ship ahead, Level 4 Mother Ship, Red Teeth, is the one we’ll be boarding. This ship was designed and built by our Imperial Court Academy, a true classic."
Mia briefly introduced to everyone.
Su Ming took a glance and asked with some confusion.
"Teacher, why don’t I see any Level 3 ships? Aren’t we equipped with Level 3 ships for this operation?"
"We are, but Level 3 ships don’t have Superluminal Flight Devices, so they’re all placed inside Level 5 and Level 4 Mother Ships."
"I see."
"No more talking, grab your things; we’re arriving."
Mia, noticing the Mother Ship getting closer, shouted to all the students.
....
Soon after, the bus stopped at the entry port K19 of the Level 4 Mother Ship, Red Teeth.
Mia led the students off the bus and toward the entry port.
The Imperial Court Sect soldiers guarding the entry port saw Mia and the others, solemnly raising their hands in salute.
Mia nodded slightly and led the students aboard.
Quickly, Su Ming and the others successfully entered Red Teeth; they followed Mia along the entry corridor.
Su Ming looked around. The entry corridor wasn’t particularly spacious, and its decor leaned towards a simple industrial style. The welding seams on the wall joints were clearly visible.
At the same time, the lights in the entry corridor were somewhat yellow and dim, illustrating that the Red Teeth likely had been in service for some years and wasn’t a very high-grade ship.
"We’ll be staying in the H Residential Area, ten to a room, same as at school."
Mia introduced in a somber voice.
"What? Still ten to a room? With the ship being so big, can’t more space be allocated for us?"
Rhein and the others asked, puzzled.
"Big? We’ll get used to it once we turn our heads, so we’ll just have to make do! Also, ships are not like being at school; the rules are very strict, and we must follow every regulation."
"What rules?"
"You’ll know soon enough."
Mia was reluctant to explain too much.
Su Ming and the others did not continue to inquire, as they had long since grown accustomed to Mia acting like a hands-off manager.
Soon, they had arrived in Area H, with Su Ming and his group entering their own room.
The rooms here were rectangular, divided in the middle, with bunk beds fixed along both sides of the walls. They were more cramped and had even less space than the dormitories and didn’t even have bathrooms.
"Damn, are we going to have to serve under these conditions?"
Rhein asked, somewhat worriedly.
"If you don’t have a military rank, then probably yes."
Su Ming said as he looked around.
Just then, the sound of a broadcast suddenly sounded, and a calm voice began to speak.
"Dear students, welcome aboard Red Teeth. I am Captain Xiao Ye, and I am honored to fight alongside you to complete arduous tasks! However, as the saying goes, ’Without rules, nothing gets done.’ I hope that during our journey together, everyone will adhere to the regulations and systems of Red Teeth. Specific details will be sent to your phones and wristbands, so please check them! Remember, your performance will determine your final credits and rewards...."
While listening to Xiao Ye’s speech, Su Ming and the others’ phones and wristbands vibrated slightly, and a message popped up.
They each quickly checked the rules and regulations.
First: Fighting is strictly prohibited on board; any conflicts should be resolved by contacting a teacher.
Second: Students from each department can only move around in their designated areas. For example, Mecha Department students are only allowed in the living quarters and the hangar and are strictly prohibited from visiting other areas of the ship.
....
Su Ming quickly scanned through them, finding the rules were not too severe and were within acceptable limits.
Just as Captain Xiao Ye concluded the broadcast, a sweet-voiced woman took over.
"Dear students, Red Teeth is now sealing the boarding chamber and will soon initiate the anti-gravity system for departure."
....
As the broadcast ended, the entire Red Teeth Mother Ship began to shake violently.
"We’re departing, where can we see the outside view? This is my first time in space!"
Zhang Yi and others excitedly grabbed their binoculars and shouted.
"Let’s go outside; we saw an observation area when we arrived that should offer a view outside."
Rhein told everyone.
Su Ming looked at the binoculars in their hands, somewhat surprised that these guys had come prepared.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go!"
Mandy and others couldn’t wait.
"Come on, let’s go together, class leader."
Rhein tossed a pair of binoculars to Su Ming.
"Okay."
Su Ming caught the binoculars Rhein had thrown, and honestly, other than city assessments and leagues, this was also his first time aboard a ship.
They quickly reached the observation area in Area H. It wasn’t very large, only accommodating about a hundred people or so. But since everyone was busy arranging their luggage, the place was nearly empty.
"Quick, hurry!"
Rhein and others rushed forward.
Su Ming also walked up, raised his binoculars, and gazed at the scenery outside.
At that moment, the Level 4 Mother Ship, Red Teeth, activated its anti-gravity device, and its massive hull slowly ascended, with the ground growing further away from them.
