Chapter 226: Chapter 226

- KILLIAN -

It was quite easy. Coming over. Not having access to her the whole day got to me. Even while working, it was all I could think about. That’s why I decided to pay her a visit. A surprise one.

This morning may not have been everything we hoped for but I know her too well to know that it would bug her. That’s part reason why I showed up. I knock gently on the solid window frame spread around the edges of her window, leading to her room.

If I wasn’t so me, I would’ve tagged what I’m doing as ‘so high school’. Sneaking into one’s girl’s house through her window when there is a front door is quite intriguing. For one, I know she won’t want me making a grand entrance into her home so I don’t mind meeting her this way. I just want to see her, be with her. Especially now that she’s supposedly with Liam.

I shake my head, shrugging the thought off. That part can wait, right now, she should have my full, undivided attention. I want to give it to her.

I let my attention rest on the inside of her room through the window. The gently click as the handle comes loose rings in my ears. Warmth hits the corners of my face as the window comes open, revealing her room to me.

“You’re crazy, you know that, right?” Is the first thing I’m welcomed with, followed by a kiss on the lips. I indulge in the kiss, returning the favour. Hazel’s lips part from mine and she takes a step back.

She’s the one who kisses me by the window far up the ground level yet I’m the one who’s crazy.

“And you’re just as crazy for liking someone like me.” I jump into the room, following her step. My hand stretches backwards to lock the window while my eyes rest on her. “For being with me even.” My arms secure her waist and with a gentle tug, I pull her to me. The gasp that leaves her lips at that makes a half grin form on my face.

“Can I ask you something?” Hazels voice peak out calmly, like a soft whisper.

“Sure, anything.” I let my lips fall on her forehead, giving her a short kiss.

“What are you doing here, Killian?” She blurts out. Her question makes me chuckle. “Not that I’m not happy that you are, I just don’t understand.” Hazel adds.

“Relax, I’m not mad at you for asking that. I would too.” I respond calmly. “I’m here because I don’t like the way you left this morning. I don’t like how devastated we both were. Couldn’t let my kitten go to bed feeling that way.” I take a hand off her waist and draw it beneath her chin then tilt her head up slightly till her gaze reaches mine. “I’m here because I love you.” My eyes are locked in hers. Hazel’s facial expression is to die for.

She looks so innocent and swooned. So vulnerable and so charmed. It’s quite beautiful to look at.

The flutter of her eye lashes is accompanied by a different shade on her cheeks. Her reaction makes a half grin form on my lips. I don’t know what the days ahead hold for the two of us and I also don’t know if I can guarantee that we’ll always be able to see each other freely, but one thing I can do is this.

If having to contact her outside her phone would be me sneaking into her room, then count me in. I take my hands off her and avert my gaze past her, examining her room. Personally, I would cringe and die from all the cuteness.

Her room is girly. Way too girly. All stylised with feminine colours. This makes me chuckle under my breath. Sleeping in a room like this would give me nightmares but I’m pretty sure she gets cotton candy dreams. The irony is funny. “Your room is. . .” I clear my throat, looking for the right word. “Impeccable.” I say. Anything other than that would mean me lying. I don’t lie nor do I fancy doing so, at least, not to her.

Hazel’s head falls, mouth buried under the back of her fingers. “Why, thank you. All in my entire life’s work.”

I make a face. Our decoration taste is completely different, that’s for sure. This makes me know that if we ever choose to settle in a home together, she would not be in charge of the home decor. No hard feelings.

A laugh rings in my ears, bringing my attention back to her. “You don’t have to be completely in line with it, Killian, I’m fine regardless.”

I let out a relieved exhale. “Thank God!” I breath, intending for her to hear me.

A pillow heads my way. My hand moves quickly and holds onto it before it could touch my face.

“You’re such a man! Geez.” She’s making herself get comfortable on her bed.

I throw the pillow back at her, just on her bed instead of right at her. This is when I raise a brow. “Are you tired?” I ask.

A yawn comes my way. Hazel nods. I may have arrived a little too late. “Need a man rocking you to sleep?”

This lady, the one who claimed to be tired, bit her lower lip and grinned. I could already tell some of the thoughts running through her head. “Does it involve fingers? Love me some fingers.”

I walk to her. The moment I get to her side, she adjusts and I let myself sit on her bed. It’s soft. Way too soft. The right amount of soft for someone so fragile as her though. Her hurt arm would need the relaxation. “And have your family rush here?” I lean my head lower, closer to hers till our faces are directed at each other and I can feel her breath on my face. “We both know quietness is not your forte.” My gaze flickers from her eyes to her lips then back to her eyes gain. “At least, not when you’re taking any part of me in.”

Hazel is silent. Her mouth spread wide open like she wanted to say something but she just hid her face along with her body under her duvet. “How would a nice cuddle till you fall asleep do?” I ask, kicking my shoes off so my legs can rest comfortably on her bed.

“That’ll do.” Muffles out the duvet cover. I dip my hand underneath the duvet and pull her to me till her head rests on my chest, my arm around her. I am careful to be gentle around her other arm, a complication is the last thing we want.

“Close your eyes.” I whisper. “And don’t worry, I’ll be here all night for you. Considering your door is locked.”

Hazel nods on my chest. This is when I run my hand through her hair, patting her calmly. The room is quiet. The only noise heard aside from her breathing are the whisks of wind coming from the window. Good thing it’s locked. I let out a sigh. My mind suddenly zones outside the two of us, my thoughts circling around the plan I have for the coming few weeks.

I stare at my free hand, they fold into a fist then unclench almost immediately. Judgment will come soon, I remind myself. I just need to be patient and remember to breathe.
