Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Outsmarted by the Characters in the Plot (Seeking Collections and Comments)
"Brother Ting?" Li Changhe growled low, taking off the hairpin hidden in his helmet, but Yun Ting never appeared.
"Damn it! What have you done?" Li Changhe didn’t dare to act rashly. Yun Ting was his trump card, yet she was subdued without giving a warning, even for a Level C Monster. If he acted thoughtlessly, he might get himself killed.
The Moon God and the others were also terrified beyond belief. They hadn’t sensed anyone approaching at first. It wasn’t until that voice asked about the first and second fights that they realized the sixth person was standing right in front of them.
Mo Mang was even doubting life itself. Her [Skill] included [Perception: A]. Yet she hadn’t noticed a thing!
Bai Luohe was the closest to Father Xia. The orange cat in her arms suddenly turned black and spoke in human language, "I’ll hold him off. Take Luohe away!"
As soon as the words were spoken, the cat seemed to be ready to take action, transforming into a huge shadow. However, in the next second, a Buddhist chant came from outside the house. The massive black shadow vanished instantly, and the black cat fell to the ground with a thud, meowing in pain.
At the same time, the sound of swords being drawn in unison came from outside the house. They were surrounded!
"Damn it! He came prepared!" Li Changhe thought quickly in his head. Had their actions last night been discovered by Father Xia or other men in black? Had Yun Ting been suppressed by this method just like the black cat?
Both the Fantasy Species and the Mysterious Species were strong races. How could there be someone in the Tang Dynasty capable of suppressing them?
Under the circumstance of being discovered by characters in the plot, anything could happen. If a plot character took an interest in the [Evolution Game], such as Qin Shi Huang from the [Eternal Throne], they would try to kill [Players]!
They couldn’t just sit and wait for death!
Li Changhe’s heart filled with determination, they had to fight their way out! Or they would die without a doubt!
Just as Li Changhe was about to make his next move, he suddenly thought of something, stopped pulling the trigger, and spoke softly, "Father Xia, how do you intend to deal with us?"
Father Xia raised an eyebrow slightly and said, "How could I hurt my own godson? If I wanted to kill you, why would I reveal myself to you?"
That’s right. If he had malicious intentions, even if he didn’t kill Li Changhe and the others, he would have at least tried to incapacitate them immediately.
Father Xia chuckled, "Master Yuan said early on that people from distant lands would come to help the Great Tang. I just didn’t expect that one of them would actually be my godson."
Master Yuan? Yuan Tiangang? Holy shit! Are the Transcendents of the Taoist sect already aware of the [Evolution Game]? [Players] cursed silently in their hearts.
Then Father Xia looked at the Moon God and said with a faint smile, "Dalisi Cheng, don’t have any misconceptions."
Moon God’s eyes flickered. Among the [Players], he had the highest level, the best equipment, and the strongest ability.
If he were to activate the [Moonlight Throne], he could probably defeat Father Xia and even break through the military camp.
Unfortunately, it was daytime now, and he was exhausted. Moon God cursed silently, guessing that his goal of clearing the common people with Heavy Fist the night before was to diminish their strength.
Having Li Changhe guard the Great Yunjing Temple must have been part of their plan! Damn it, they were outsmarted by the characters in the plot!
Seeing Li Changhe shaking his head slightly, Moon God sighed and tossed his dual gun-pistols into the [Backpack].
Father Xia saw Moon God’s weaponry vanish into thin air and his gaze flickered. He said with a faint smile, "Gentlemen, His Majesty requests your presence."
The door was violently pushed open, and dozens of soldiers swarmed in. Seeing them all holding chains, the [Players]’ faces turned pale.
They all looked at Li Changhe. If they were to be chained, they would truly have no ability to resist. Should they really not resist?
"There’s no choice. If we break out now, we can forget about completing our task. If our task fails, we’re all as good as dead. Let’s take it one step at a time," Li Changhe replied.
They really had no choice. If they were antagonized by the Great Tang, they might not survive the next two days, let alone complete the task. Li Changhe and the others were not [Special Ability Holders] who could fight hundreds or thousands on their own, especially with so many extraordinary people surrounding them. They might not even be able to defeat one in a one-on-one battle.
Father Xia said lightly, "Don’t worry, godson. I won’t harm you. After all, we’re going to meet His Majesty, so some precautions are necessary."
Damn it, he was still trying to take advantage of Li Changhe. Li Changhe nodded slightly, "Then I’ll have to rely on you, my cheap godfather."
One by one, they were locked up. Li Changhe, Heavy Fist, and the others secretly tried to break free of the chains but to no avail. It was probably made of meteorite iron, and it seemed unlikely that they could break it with just a [Player]’s strength. But with skills...
After exchanging glances, they all had a plan in mind.
They followed Father Xia into a large carriage. The black cat was also locked in a cage, guarded by several monks.
Not knowing how much time had passed, the Moon God and Heavy Fist took the opportunity to rest a bit.
Li Changhe and Father Xia, however, chatted and laughed as if there was no animosity between them.
Father Xia had always been eager to learn about the [Players]’ identities. Le Changhe found this interesting.
Bullshitting was his forte.
Li Changhe effortlessly steered the conversation from Dream of the Red Chamber to Journey to the West, leaving Father Xia completely baffled. The monks looked even more serious, most likely planning to go to the West to check it out.
The two also managed to obtain some information from each other. [Players] had probably been present in the Great Tang for quite a while. Their ability to make items disappear and their formidable combat power were their characteristics. Unfortunately, whenever local reports of [Players] were sent, the [Players] had already vanished by the time the urgent, 800-mile-long messages arrived.
After all, the Tang Dynasty’s communications and transportation systems weren’t exactly advanced.
With the events happening in Changan, and Master Yuan predicting that [Players] would come to help, Father Xia and the others managed to find clues of their presence, especially when Li Changhe first accepted the order. He had noticed the ghostly aura on Li Changhe, as well as the ghostly aura during last night’s patrol at Longevity Square.
What happened next was already known to Li Changhe. They had unknowingly fallen into a trap.
Meanwhile, the information that Father Xia had obtained was that Li Changhe and the others were immortals who had descended from the heavens... What a load of bullshit. It was clearly fake!
Father Xia had obviously heard Li Changhe and the others talk about the Li Zhi period.
"Prince Li Zhi will become the Crown Prince? They can know both past and present?" After pondering, Father Xia fell silent, fearing he might not be able to resist the urge to slap and kill Li Changhe for his nonsensical talk.
Li Changhe and the others, however, quietly sighed with relief. The people of the Great Tang had merely discovered the [Players] but had not yet learned about the [Evolution Game]. This was relatively fortunate. If it were like the case of the Emperor in the [Eternal Throne], killing [Players] and seizing their qualifications, things would be disastrous.
"Although His Majesty is curious about you, he ultimately believes what Master Yuan said, that you came here to help the Great Tang," Father Xia said. "When you meet His Majesty, show proper respect. Otherwise, even if you were truly my son, I couldn’t save you!"
"Don’t worry, my cheap godfather. Our goals, at least, are aligned," Li Changhe replied nonchalantly.
They’d take it one step at a time. If they could gain the support of the Great Tang, their chances of accomplishing the [Task] would increase. If it didn’t work out and the other side wanted to study [Players]... they’d just go all out.
