Chapter 518: Chapter 194: Magic Mirror (3000)
The Magic Mirror, from the fairytale of Snow White. Owned by the villainous Queen in the story, it was the all-knowing mirror.
Also a passenger in room 301 of the Dream Cruise.
This information was gleaned from Mad Kangaroo, when he was trapped and saw Li Changhe.
The first abnormality that came to his mind was the Magic Mirror from 301.
This is human nature, after making a regrettable decision. The first thing that comes to mind is regretful thoughts like ’if only...that would be nice’.
Unfortunately, there are no ifs.
As for the Magic Mirror, if it’s really all-knowing like in the fairy tales, that indeed is a being worth contacting.
Li Changhe put the Bird Beak Mask back on, sparkled the space in his hand and took out the Magic Bullet Shooter Rifle. Together with Little Red Riding Hood, they left room 409.
On the fourth corridor, Li Changhe scanned the hall, many people who had noticed movement on the fourth floor were giving him wary and dodging looks.
The Earth Knight was right, to the ordinary people, these oddly dressed [Players] with supernatural abilities, were no different from creatures of abnormality.
At least, to normal people, there is no difference.
"Is the first floor specifically left for humans? What exactly is the intention of the captain?" Li Changhe pondered walking past the rooms. He could clearly sense that the abnormalities in the rooms were peeking at him and Xiao Nan through the windows.
Of course, Li Changhe was just as unabashed to observe them, only just short of saying ’if you dare, come out and fight me’.
The abnormalities here adhered to certain laws, they did not intentionally harm humans and they couldn’t leave their rooms arbitrarily before lights out. It was probably due to the captain’s rules that constrained these abnormal beings, creating a somewhat harmonious environment between them and humans.
Since they couldn’t come out unintentionally, Li Changhe had no need to worry.
Carefully observing the abnormalities of the fourth floor, there were twenty rooms on the fourth floor. Among them, seven rooms were vacant, but the doors couldn’t be opened, which indicated they were occupied.
They’re probably still catching the people at the northern shore. If Long Wall’s plan was being carried out, they should’ve been... cleansed by now.
Li Changhe paused at room 420, through the window, he saw a pair of red high heels displayed in a showcase.
And on the floor surrounding the showcase, were nearly four female human corpses with various dress styles.
"The Red Shoes..." Xiao Nan naturally also saw this scene, her face showed no emotion but Li Changhe could feel her fleeting anger.
Among them was a female special squad Member’s corpse.
This Red Shoes character fought using the corpse of the squad member. From the bullet traces on the corpse, it was evident she combatted with squad members.
Those squad members were probably... Dead, fighting against such a level of abnormality.
"With the addition of the Pied Piper, there are quite a number of abnormalities on this ship that have an ostensible hostility towards humans." Li Changhe thought: "If possible, they need to be eliminated in advance."
A moment later, the two arrived at the door of room 301.
Just as he reached out to knock
"Click"
The door opened automatically. As if it was well aware of Li Changhe’s arrival.
"Interesting, I was wondering if it would refuse to meet." Li Changhe chuckled softly.
"Though it’s a third-floor abnormality, we still can’t take it lightly." The girl replied: "We must be very careful."
It was known from Mad Kangaroo that the Magic Mirror needed to respond individually.
Only one person would be allowed in each time.
Li Changhe nodding his head, entered room 301.
As the door closed slowly behind him, Li Changhe saw a full-length mirror. It stood in the middle of the room and apart from that, there was nothing else in the room.
After observing the room, Li Changhe looked at the full-length mirror.
He noticed three prominent cracks on the surface of the mirror.
"They couldn’t even provide a bed, how stingy. And you are cracked."
"Yes, when I was in the hand of my Master, the Queen. I had to be cleaned eight times a day. Plus, there would be those young, beautiful maidservants drying my body. That feeling, splendid!"
Life sure is better as a mirror....
Li Changhe’s voice echoed from the mirror.
Simultaneously, the mirror surface flickered, reflecting Li Changhe’s figure.
Of course, being a mirror, reflecting Li Changhe’s figure wasn’t a peculiar phenomenon.
But...the Li Changhe standing in front of the mirror was well-disguised in a magic costume, donning a Bird Beak Mask.
However, the Li Changhe in the mirror had no signs of disguise, revealing his original appearance straight away.
He wasn’t even wearing clothes.
"Don’t mind it, standing before me, no disguise will work. That includes clothes." The ’Li Changhe’ in the Magic Mirror patted his chest; his demeanor was just like the actual Li Changhe’s.
"So...do you have a relative named Demon-revealing Mirror?" Li Changhe thought it was good that Brother Ting isn’t here.
"I have no relatives. I’m just a mirror. Don’t judge me with human logic." The ’Li Changhe’ in the mirror smiled in response.
Oh, damn it, do I really look that smug when I smile? Li Changhe furrowed his brow.
Suddenly he asked, "Oh, damn it, why do you only let one person in?"
"This...is a limitation." The Magic Mirror was taken aback and asked back, "Is there a problem?"
There’s a huge problem! Li Changhe really wanted to come with the girl.
"Cough, I’m fine." Li Changhe waved his hand and smiled, "At least I know you can’t see through what I am thinking."
The man in the mirror stayed silent, shook his head and said, "Indeed, I cannot see through human thoughts and ideas."
"So, is there something you want to tell me now?"
"You can ask anything and, based on the answer you want, I will propose a price. The same answer might not cost the same for every person."
Li Changhe nodded, understanding this.
For instance, a billionaire asking for lottery numbers wouldn’t pay the same price as a penniless person asking the same thing.
No wonder Mad Kangaroo didn’t come to the Magic Mirror, the price he would have to pay could be enormous.
"So you know everything?"
"Not quite, I can see a lot of things. But not all of them, some are so devastating that even I would be damaged by looking at them. One of the cracks on me was due to an idiot who asked me where his faith was. I was silly enough to take a peek." The ’Li Changhe’ in the mirror spoke furiously: "That was my greatest regret! I didn’t get anything out of it, and it caused me serious damage!"
"Also, do not ask me who the fairest woman in the world is." That’s the question the queen asked the Magic Mirror in fairy tales. Perhaps it left a psychological trauma?
"Actually, when I heard this fairy tale earlier, I was thinking, couldn’t you just flatter the queen?" Li Changhe asked, which has been a lingering question since his childhood.
What if the Magic Mirror had simply said that the fairest of them all was the queen? Wouldn’t that have solved everything?
Could it be that even as a Magic Mirror, it lacked such wisdom?
I can’t lie, I told her she couldn’t kill Snow White," said the man in the mirror. "And I even said, Snow White is only young, when she reaches your age, queen, she definitely won’t look as good as you. You see how considerate I was?"
"When she reaches your age... did you actually say that?"
"Yeah, and the queen was furious. She punched me. See this crack? It’s been a hundred years and still hasn’t healed," sighed the man in the mirror, "So you see, women are troubling."
"If you dare speak these last words outside, you’ll be beaten up," Li retorts.
"By what?"
"Something dangerous with chaotic punches."
Li Changhe briefly explains, pondering the queen’s temperament, which happens to be quite big.
She was poked about her age, yet she only punched you, not breaking you into pieces?
Not keen on chatting further, Li Changhe asked: "So, please tell me. Do you know everything about this cruise ship? After all, you’ve been staying here."
"Of course, but if you want me to tell you, you have to pay a price." The man in the mirror replied: "Twenty years."
"What twenty years?" Li Changhe was stunned, thinking isn’t cleansing your mirror for twenty years a bit too much? Am I supposed to take you home with me?
"Your life, twenty years." A black, cadaverous voice came from the mirror: "You have a vigorous body and a long life. It’s a reasonable price. And I need it to heal myself. Put your arm on me, and I will tell you what you want to know after extracting the price."
"Ha?" Li Changhe burst out laughing: "Twenty years of life? I’m not even twenty yet!"
Li Changhe had just turned nineteen after the New Year, and the Mirror was asking for twenty years upfront; it was being quite gutsy.
Now Li Changhe understood why Mad Kangaroo dared not come. If he wanted to know about the existence of the other players here, he would probably have to pay more than fifty years of his life.
To expose the players, Little Red Riding Hood only required some prepared fresh blood, while the Magic Mirror literally required life.
So for Mad Kangaroo who planned to enjoy the rest of life, it was definitely not an option.
"I know, you’re still young. Taking some life away, it’s nothing big." The man in the mirror responded: "If... you don’t want to... then exchange it for something else."
Li Changhe did not respond but instead raised his Li-style Old Rifle.
"How about this? Enchanted bullets?"
"Are you threatening me?" The man in the mirror paused a bit, then shook his head: "Don’t be silly, you think those that could scratch me were ordinary beings? You can try, I won’t resist."
Li Changhe nodded, then without saying another word, pulled the trigger.
A bullet glistening with magic shot out of the rifle, leaving a trail of high visibility glow in the air, much like a meteor streaking across the sky.
But then... it disappeared.
The bullet did hit the mirror, but it was like it went into some liquid and instantly melted away.
"I see, simple physical attacks are ineffective against you?" Li Changhe put away his rifle and scratched his head.
"You see... it’s better to just pay the price honestly." The man in the mirror grinned.
Li Changhe sighed, and the space around him flickered.
An azure flame filled the room.
Mountain Pattern Armor, Ghost Face Mask, Black Sheep Cloak, Magnetic Gloves, Abyssal Whisper Mechanical Bow... Li Changhe took out all his gear, getting fully armed!
"Not giving up?" The man in the mirror’s face stiffened a bit, he was finally feeling a sense of danger at the sight of this geared-up Li Changhe.
With such a high price, naturally, there have been people trying to force it to disclose the information.
But this was the first time it had ever felt this kind of danger!
"I can give you a discount, ten years!" The man in the mirror hesitated and responded: "That’s my bottom line, don’t be ungrateful!"
"There’s no other way, there’s a lot I want to know. Besides this ship, I also want to find a person. After all, you’re a Magic Mirror, the opportunity is too rare. Sadly, the cost is too high. I’ll just play the bad guy." A sound like a bronze bell rang out from the Azure Flame mask.
Then he took out the... Big Lead.
’Swank’
"Crack!" Just by hearing a sound, the crack on the mirror’s surface rapidly expanded.
"Wait!"
