Chapter 1506: Chapter 157: Planetary Fortress (4K)
Li Changhe had come to scout information about this so-called Endless Void, seeking a way to return to the original normal world.
Unexpectedly, he obtained the beginning of the Evolution Game here with Yian.
According to Yian’s timeline, in the distant past, the Void housed a very powerful Divine Civilization. Their numbers weren’t many, but each individual was a True God or even higher.
Some among them could even devour entire star systems to fuel their own strength.
In terms of both technology and the arcane, they had reached a zenith that no race nowadays could even touch.
During that era, the Divine Civilization had no rivals; even the Chaos Evil Gods were suppressed by the civilization. And the long passage of time made Divine Civilization feel bored.
Therefore, they tampered with the consciousness of the Void, pulling strings as they saw fit.
Whether they intended to create a civilization that could be considered a rival or merely as a toy for amusement is unknown.
In any case, they went overboard. And played themselves to death.
It was only after this that Yian’s civilization and other suppressed civilizations and forces began to rise.
Ancient Beastmen, Chaos forces, Yian’s Elemental Creature Civilization, and a plethora of other races fought fiercely.
Then, during one era, a civilization rapidly rose in a dark corner—this was the Trilobite.
The Void consciousness, indeed influenced by the Divine Civilization, cultivated the Trilobite Civilization according to the demands given to it by the Divine Civilization.
And, as the Divine Civilization had envisioned, the Trilobite Civilization became a formidable one.
However, the consciousness of the Void, or the Evolution Game, always continued its path in cultivating the next Champion Civilization.
Thus, the Void was in perpetual war.
Generation after generation, Champion Civilizations rose, defeating their predecessors, only to be defeated by the champions that followed in the long stretch of time.
Until, the ancestors of Annihilation and the previous Champion Civilization died together, eventually declining into the Annihilation Civilization.
Having grasped the mechanisms of the Evolution Game through the last war, the Annihilation Civilization made a decisive move to find the not yet risen humans, intending to eradicate them in advance—eliminating the seedling of a Champion Civilization.
Li Changhe pondered for a while, but it was only a moment before he continued to ask, "And this is the universe specifically used for exile by the Void consciousness?"
"Correct, every once in a long while, different species are exiled here. And most of them are carbon-based life forms," Yian replied. "Your people are the first exiles in recent times. You’re few in number; many races have had their entire planets or even star systems exiled. But you just have one fleet, which in this barren universe, I fear, will soon be exhausted and devoured by other beings. It’s better to stay here with me; I can shelter you."
Yian spoke with sincerity, for a fleet adrift in this boundless and desolate universe would soon become like fish on a chopping board once resources were depleted.
And beings like Li Changhe, who possessed Divinity, the Supreme King, Yang Dong, He Feng, and others, would likely be devoured by those beings that craved Divinity.
The best course of action seemed to be to settle here. To join hands with the True God, Yian.
Moreover, some information was revealed, implying that past Champion Species had been exiled too. It seems that once a race becomes a Champion Species, they will acquire this power.
Yet humanity had qualified for the Evolution Game no more than three years ago, far from enough...
Facing the olive branch extended by a True God, a smile crossed Li Changhe’s mind.
This was quite a crude method of solicitation. After all, Yian simply wanted more intelligent beings to settle on his world to offer him faith.
So, instead of picking up on that, Li Changhe asked, "Have you ever tried to leave this Endless Void? As a True God, your children and kin are all out there."
"I’ve tried many, many times, but to no avail. I believe my kin in the exterior also attempted to summon me back and took action, but I’m still here, aren’t I? I heard from newer arrivals that my civilization has been destroyed, and the surviving younger generations have probably forgotten about me, a True God."
Yian let out a laugh, "So, don’t bother, it’s futile. There are too many powerful beings here. If you wander around the universe, you can see many corpses of True Gods and their fleets. They all attempted it but failed. Don’t waste precious Divinity on this. Instead, while your Divinity is full, find a place to settle down and proliferate your species quickly. I’ve scanned your physical structure, and you’re a very intricate species, quite difficult to maintain. Unlike us Elemental Creatures, who can live on almost any planet or even within stars. Why not settle down here with me?"
Yian said so much, essentially wanting humanity to settle on his world.
After all, his planet could at least barely sustain human life. And time, for a being like him, a True God, did not matter much. Before long, humans would begin to grow and multiply, and under his influence, gradually become his Believers—a species rich in emotion like humanity makes for a good source of faith. His own Divinity’s recovery rate would greatly increase.
"Don’t worry about that, I plan to make use of my full Divinity now to see different places," Li Changhe responded. "If we truly find no other way, we’ll come back and seek the protection of the True God, Yian."
"Good, I’ll be waiting for you. But I must tell you, not all beings are as easy to talk to as I am. You’d better be cautious," Yian laughed, believing that this would be realized soon.
