Chapter 1493: Chapter 1050: The Fierce Battle of the Giant City
Outside the Southern Vietnam Megalopolis in Southeast Asia, swarms of Sea Beasts, braving countless barrages of artillery fire, left innumerable corpses on the sea’s surface and along the coast.
And atop the high walls, all of the human side’s firepower erupted into a terrifying web of fire. Lasers, missiles, and various other weapons roared as they unleashed their intended might.
No matter the behemoths towering tens of meters tall or the Different Race army mixed among them, all were torn to pieces by the fierce firepower.
Above, the giant city defense air force pilots steered fighter jets to drop bombs, pulverizing the dense hordes of Different Race monsters!
The giant city was humanity’s ultimate means to preserve its spark of life, with its defense firepower incredibly formidable.
Any force wishing to conquer the giant city would pay a tremendously heavy price.
But this still could not stop the continuous onslaught of the Different Race army; their numbers were terrifying. They forcefully charged through the meat grinder-like net of fire, climbed the high walls, passed through the already destroyed gates below the walls, and surged into the giant city.
The breach in the high wall was humanity’s nightmare, but it was certainly not the end for humanity!
Countless residents of the giant city took up weapons and engaged in a bloody battle with the invading Different Race army and monsters. In alleys, on roads, and within houses, humans exploded with fierce fighting spirit, stubbornly holding back the advance of the Different Race. Yet the Different Race, seemingly inexhaustible, continued to crazily flood in, gradually pressing into the depths of the giant city.
A guard officer frantically issued orders to destroy all roads and buildings on the Different Race’s advance route, to drag out their invasion as long as possible.
"Can we block the gate?" an officer yelled. The current situation stemmed from the destroyed gate, through which the Different Race could march straight through. If they could block the gate, they might hold out longer!
Unfortunately, the soldiers on the walls were unable to close the gate, and the operations on the ground also failed time and again.
"We’ve sent five teams already, all failed!" the officer’s aide shouted in response.
The Different Race army knew the importance of the gate and had set up layered defenses. It was difficult for the human ground forces to even approach, let alone block the gate.
"Damn it," the officer cursed. Had a high-level individual of the giant city not been corrupted by Chaos, causing a breach in the wall defenses, would they have been so passive?
"I’ll go!" And at that moment, a voice sounded.
The officer turned sharply only to see several men and women in strange and distinctive attire. The man at the front was dressed in the Great Wall battle dress, young but very steady.
This person was none other than Pan Ke, a named member outside the Great Wall. Following him were human players from various organizations.
"Pan Ke," the officer replied, "Can you really do it? There are too many Different Race troops there. We’ve dispatched no less than three hundred Transcendents, but all failed."
"We will give it our all," Pan Ke replied somberly, "If we keep on like this, the giant city really won’t hold."
"My troops will provide full support to you. May you be victorious," the officer saluted Pan Ke, "I was rude to you before, and for that, I truly apologize. If we all survive this, I’ll buy you a drink."
"Let’s hope this flag is planted firmly..." Pan Ke bowed in return. He then set about forming an elite team with the players and some Transcendents, preparing to block the overtaken gate.
As a Transcendent born and raised in the main world, Pan Ke was considered a prodigy of the Association.
Achieving Extraordinary status at twelve, entering the Profound Level at eighteen. He was the unique genius youth of the Taoist path.
And unsurprisingly, he was chosen as Mr. All-known, managing all affairs of the Transcendents.
He was once proud and confident, believing that he would revive the glorious era of the Extraordinary.
But after he became a player and learned more about history and its uncertainties, his pride and confidence dissipated.
Had it not been for the demise of the previous generation of powerful Transcendents at the hands of the Three Corpses God, would Pan Ke have stepped into this position? Which among the thirteen Transcendents wasn’t stronger than him?
If his junior uncle Li Changhe had been found earlier, with his talent, what right did he have to be called Mr. All-known?
Especially after seeing the rise of the Extraordinary Alliance in the ninety-nine cities of Netherworld, he felt even more embarrassed.
It was his world’s junior uncle, the Supreme King, who had created this era of extraordinary prosperity. What was he compared to them?
"I might not be a genius like my junior uncle, but... I still have some usefulness," Pan Ke thought to himself.
At this moment, the human troops launched a charge, beginning to cover the elite team which he was a part of.
And he also led his team into the chaos of the battlefield, solely to find the opportunity to block off the destroyed gate.
As a member of the Extraordinary Association outside the Great Wall, Pan Ke naturally would establish the Black Great Wall. But this would take some time; they had to hold the gate for about five minutes to build the Great Wall and would need to fortify the Black Great Wall afterward. In other words, after establishing the Great Wall, he had to defend it until every Different Race inside the giant city was eradicated.
This was a very dangerous task, but for now, it could only be entrusted to him.
As the human army tangled with the Different Race legion, Pan Ke and his team quickly approached the gate.
As seasoned gamers, their advance was overwhelming. They soon came upon the giant city gate.
And there, beneath the gate, Pan Ke saw the enemies he had to kill. Those human Transcendents who had defected to Chaos!
It was because of these bastard’s betrayal that the giant city had faced such a catastrophe. Pan Ke of the main world’s Extraordinary Association, known as Mr. All-known, was about to clean house!
The other side also noticed Pan Ke emerging from the battlefield at this time.
"Isn’t this senior Pan?" laughed the Chaos Transcendents, "At this point, do you also wish to join our master? Come into the arms of the lord of wisdom. Senior Pan! Behold my grand strength!"
"I’m here to send you off, traitor!" Pan Ke charged out of the broken ruins, his sword in hand bursting with thunderous light.
Divine Sword Thunder Control!
The violent thunder wrapped around his sword, piercing into the enemy ranks, and the terrifying lightning reduced a huge Sea Beast to char.
Those Chaos Transcendents confronted Pan Ke with laughter, shouting, "Don’t you yearn for the limits of the Extraordinary? Don’t you wish for the same strength and power as the Supreme King?"
Unmoved, Pan Ke unleashed his magical abilities, his fellow gamers fully opening their Sequence, and some even summoned a Beastmen mech to carve through the Different Race ranks.
Pan Ke himself then blasted those Chaos Transcendents to pieces with a palm thunder strike.
Even if they had turned to Chaos, trash was ultimately trash!
Pan Ke sneered inwardly, arriving in front of the gate where he saw Different Race still pouring in and shouting, "Five minutes!"
"Leave it to us!" the gamers shouted back.
However, the Different Race seemed to sense the intentions of Pan Ke and his group. A large Different Race force inside the giant city unexpectedly changed direction, preparing to return and defend the gate. And outside the gate, the Different Race troops, disregarding their lives, forcefully charged through the fiery net to attack the gate.
Pan Ke took a deep breath.
He knew the survival rate for this battle was very low, but even in death, he had given his due contribution!
He knew he was far from as talented as those geniuses, but he would never get discouraged, never compromise!
"Bring it on, you bunch of scruffy seafood!" Pan Ke roared, "Humanity will not fall!"
