Chapter 1360: Chapter 956: The Master of Soldiers?
As Li Changhe approached, Old Xu’s eyes were full of surprise and vigilance.
And the sniper Old Zhao, hiding in a high place with his gun set up, also vigilantly aimed the muzzle at Li Changhe’s head.
Clearly, they were very suspicious of Li Changhe, who had suddenly appeared, possessed great strength, and whose intentions were unclear.
Li Changhe calmly placed the jack, prying open the twisted cabin. He then slowly dragged Old Xu out.
After glancing at Old Xu’s injuries, Li Changhe understood that both his legs were broken. As for the other injuries, they weren’t as bad. Secretly administering some High-Efficiency Healing Liquid would stabilize him.
However, from their conversation, it could be inferred that this old soldier known as Old Xu planned to surrender to Chaos, and to block the Beastmen’s pursuit for his teammates.
To surrender to Chaos...
Li Changhe was somewhat surprised—did the humans of this world actually control it?
Resisting corruption was supposed to be extremely difficult. Could they maintain themselves at the critical point of not being corrupted? The armored warriors of Great Tang certainly hadn’t managed to achieve that.
Moreover, why was he so sure that after being corrupted, an Evil God would grant him strength? Give him enough power to fight off the pursuers?
Although the power of the Evil Gods was formidable, they wouldn’t grant it to their Believers without reason.
And facing so many Beastmen, one Believer presumably wouldn’t be very effective. It’s not like an Evil God would conjure up a tank on the spot for him, right?
"It’s indeed been said that some humans in this world turn to Chaos, but this is the first time I’ve seen it," pondered Li Changhe. Upon entering this world, the first step for players was to gather information.
He Feng, Yang Dong, Chen Yu. They were all desperately searching for information in their respective areas.
According to the intelligence, each giant city possessed considerable military force, and indeed, there were certain anomalies within the cities.
Moreover, not all humans remained holed up inside the giant cities—some would leave and operate in the wilderness.
Like scavengers, who would leave the giant cities and search for resources in various abandoned cities.
Like the sentry teams of certain giant cities, who would patrol the wilderness near the cities. They would detect and attack Different Race units approaching.
Like the messenger from the giant city...
Due to the emergence of psychic storms, human communication was hampered. Additionally, with the invasion of Different Races, even the status of a few human communication satellites in space was uncertain.
This also made the connection between giant cities extremely difficult.
It led to the reemergence of the ancient profession of messenger.
They were responsible for delivering messages between giant cities, with an extremely high level of danger.
After all, they had to travel through the perilous wilderness. If luck was not on their side, they would encounter the Different Race.
If a team had someone like Big Iron Pestle, a high-level gunman, they might encounter Different Race, Annihilation, and Chaos all in one go.
And this team seemed very much like the so-called messengers of the giant city, who had been attacked by the Beastmen en route.
Li Changhe thought to himself, his hands never stopping as he dragged Old Xu out of the cabin.
Old Xu was covered in blood, and his broken legs made him grimace in pain. Staring at Li Changhe, he asked with difficulty, "Who are you?"
Li Changhe, hearing his accent and after carefully looking at Old Xu’s face, was slightly stunned for a moment, then responded with a smile in Yanyun dialect, "Naturally, I am human."
It was only then that Li Changhe noticed the old soldier known as Old Xu was actually an acquaintance from his own world, Xu Fu.
Xu Fu from the main world, had become a player after the disaster fog and had joined the officials, in the same group as Old Zhao.
He hadn’t expected to run into his counterpart from this world upon entering the Netherworld Ninety-Nine Cities.
Though he was much older and his face was weathered, the face was still faintly recognizable.
This gave Li Changhe a pleasant surprise. Since Xu Fu, a Yanyun native, was still alive, could it be that others were living in some giant city too? It seemed like he needed to probe for information later. He just didn’t know what the relationship between himself and Xu Fu was in this world or if they even knew each other.
Hearing Li Changhe’s Yanyun dialect, Xu Fu looked at him with a mix of amazement and suspicion.
Li Changhe was wearing magical attire, which made it hard for Xu Fu to see his face, but his accent was undeniably that of Yanyun, not likely to be faked.
Could such a coincidence really happen?
While being besieged by Beastmen, to be rescued by a human powerhouse suspected to be a Transcendent, and even one from his own hometown of Yanyun...?
Wasn’t that just too bizarre? Was it some kind of plot by the Evil God?
Xu Fu was astonished internally, but he didn’t have the luxury of mulling it over.
The roar of the Beastmen grew louder; the snarling engines of their armored vehicles could already be heard in the distance, rapidly approaching.
Yun Ting had handled many of the Beastmen in the ruins, but more of them were converging towards this location.
This area was close to the territory of the Beastmen. The bloodthirsty and belligerent creatures wouldn’t let any invaders off easily.
If Li Changhe still wanted to hide his strength, it wouldn’t be wise to keep tangling with them.
Thus, Li Changhe picked up Xu Fu and approached an armored vehicle modified by the Beastmen.
He opened the door and dumped the dead Beastman driver and machine gunner, whose heads he’d blown off, onto the roadside.
After securing Xu Fu in the back seat, Li Changhe drove the armored vehicle out of the ruins.
He paused for a few seconds next to a ruined building. The human sniper, knowing of his presence and having been spotted, made no effort to hide.
The sniper hung a rope, quickly slid down it, and jumped onto the armored vehicle.
The sniper was agile, quickly flipping into the vehicle. After checking on Xu Fu who was nearly passed out from pain.
He climbed into the passenger seat and said to Li Changhe, "Thanks for saving him. Next, please head east, my teammates are there to meet us."
Li Changhe looked him over and couldn’t help but chuckle internally, feeling a bit joyful.
So it was, this human sniper was Zhao Qianhui.
This world’s Zhao Qianhui was even more experienced and mature, holding his pistol at his waist while talking to Li Changhe.
He was clearly wary of Li Changhe, which was a very good response.
Soon, Li Changhe floored the accelerator, speeding through the ruins.
As the vehicle burst from the crash site of the warship, indeed, on the highway to the east, they saw the human convoy that had retreated earlier.
The human squad was surprised to see Zhao Qianhui and Xu Fu emerge from the encirclement.
And upon seeing Li Changhe, their expressions changed, but they made no rash moves. Instead, they gestured for Li Changhe to keep up with their vehicles.
Thus, three armored vehicles quickly weaved through the ruins.
Onboard the human squad’s vehicle, a warrior asked softly, "Who is that guy? A scavenger? Or a messenger?"
"Could this be just a coincidence? It feels more like a conspiracy. But the Different Race doesn’t seem to play these games."
"Could he be a spy from another giant city?"
"Not sure, but he definitely rescued Old Xu and Old Zhao. Let’s escape first, then consider his identity," the squad captain asked, "What does the Taoist say? Is he a Transcendent?"
The Transcendent in the convoy stared at the vehicle in the rearview mirror, silent for a long time.
Because, upon seeing Li Changhe for the first time, he faintly saw a Six-armed Demon God!
