Chapter 1124: Chapter 775: Great Tang Players
In the quiet wasteland above, a giant tree monster crawled rapidly across the ground with two twisted arms.
Its massive body left behind a deep trail that spread far into the distance.
Both the squads of knights patrolling the main roads and the twisted beasts that lived in groups avoided the behemoth.
The knights urgently retreated to their fortresses and checkpoints, while the beasts scattered and fled to hide.
It was a powerful abnormality of a certain region, and now, for some unknown reason, it had left its territory, instilling terror and trepidation in the native creatures.
What they didn’t know was that atop the peculiarly moving tree monster stood two figures, and they were speaking words incomprehensible to the natives.
"Earth Dragon One! Advance four!" Someone shouted with particular glee, stubbornly believing their mount to be a dragon. That, of course, was Li Changhe.
The tree monster, however, let out an unwilling roar, yet still rapidly crawled in a certain direction. As one of the top predators, even the knights had to be wary of its presence. But now, it had fallen to being this human’s ride, incapable of any rebellion. This filled it with tremendous anger, yet there was nothing it could do.
Big Iron Pestle sat on the monster’s head, with a map spread out before him.
At this moment, for the first time, he felt hopeful about his Lucky E.
It turns out that being extremely unlucky can indeed have the opposite effect.
The intention of Li Changhe was to make use of his own exceptionally bad luck to select a destination.
If it were Big Iron Pestle’s luck, he figured there was a very high chance of encountering dangerous creatures like the tree monster. This was not unfamiliar territory for him. When his luck was at its worst, getting hit in the face by a meteorite wasn’t unheard of. Before reaching LV10, he had experienced various misfortunes alongside a LV10 player from a different race.
That player was one of the rare few with divinity, which just happened to trigger the Reaper’s Favor. As a result, in just over a dozen minutes, they experienced a ground collapse, dam leakage, a face wash by a flash flood, and electrocution in water, among other disasters.
In the last moment, the player tried to use an Escape Coin, but as expected, it failed.
All he could do was let out a desperate roar and then got taken out by a falling artificial satellite.
So, it’s one thing to be strong, but whether one can survive is another matter entirely.
And now, from the perspective of the task, this has actually become an advantage that allowed them to find the monsters with the King’s Medal earlier than other players.
Furthermore, Li Changhe’s Riding EX could be very effective in preserving their strength. After all, that’s quite a large mount.
If necessary, Big Iron Pestle didn’t want to exhaust himself too much either.
And now, with the two of them cooperating, if any foolhardy soul decided to hunt players and obtain the King’s Medal, it would essentially be a death wish.
"Finally, I have a moment to hold my head high and sigh with relief," murmured Big Iron Pestle, shedding tears of emotion, for he knew that most players were currently struggling to find the abnormalities with the medals. But he... would find them wherever he went!
Meanwhile, Li Changhe activated his Hawk Eye Magic Eye, having the black hawks be on the lookout to better observe any players that might be around. After all, he was attracting too much attention at the moment, which could draw in malice.
Fortunately, black hawks could identify tracks, and even if it were an Assassin Type player, as long as there were traces left behind, Li Changhe could use Tracing Insight to see the person’s rough appearance and movement.
At that moment, as Li Changhe controlled ’Earth Dragon One’ through a stretch of forest, his expression changed.
For, in a muddy patch in the forest, he saw a very familiar imprint—it was the footprint of a Great Tang armored warrior!
Li Changhe decisively used Tracing Insight and saw an armor-clad warrior draped in skin passing through the forest. Their path was the same as the direction Li Changhe was currently heading.
"Isn’t this coincidence?" Li Changhe chuckled lightly.
...
Meanwhile, several kilometers away, a battle had ended, and an ordinary-looking youth,
carrying a bronze sword on his back, was making his way through the perilous swamp.
The swamp, which would normally trap a person and harbored various poisonous creatures, could not hinder him in the slightest.
For it was this very young man who had beaten the strongest creature in the swamp to death with punch after punch, the Cursed Poison Frog, and claimed the King’s Medal.
As the sword-carrying youth was walking out of the swamp, he grumbled, "Look at you, don’t get too excited just because you see an Extraordinary Soldier. In the preparation space, you almost blew our cover."
The bronze sword behind him trembled slowly, as if responding to the youth.
"I know, I know. The presence of the General Ancestor excites you a bit. But we need to prioritize the bigger picture. I’m sure the ancestor would be magnanimous and not mind the fact that you once cut through his flesh. After all, you are a sword. He probably can’t blame you for that," complained the youth, and then added, "However, you said that the location of someone’s fall has been interfered with by an outside Evil God. That’s something we need to pay attention to. He is either a great demon of the Evil God, or... he is the Evil God’s target."
The bronze sword expressed agreement and then trembled lightly again.
"Are you saying... you sense the presence of dangerous creatures nearby?" the youth asked with a smile. "Well, that’s great. The sooner we gather the King’s Medals, the sooner we can proceed with the following investigation."
As soon as his words ended, the youth leaped up, and the grand image of an eastern dragon appeared behind him. Its unfurled wings sent the creatures within the swamp scurrying to hide.
The next second, the youth transformed into a dragon shadow and sped away through the air.
In about a minute, he had flown to his destination.
It was a desolate ruin, which from the traces left on the ground, seemed to be similar to a church or a similar structure. Tall, black stone statues stood on either side of the ruin.
As soon as the youth landed, he noticed a figure not far away.
It was a warrior clad in steampunk armor, investigating something at the edge of the ruins.
"I’ve actually encountered a Great Tang player," the youth thought with a light chuckle, nodding slightly to the Great Tang soldier as a form of greeting.
The Great Tang soldier, however, cautiously kept a certain distance from the youth.
That was normal, after all. Great Tang players were wary of Main World players, as many player organizations yearned to discover the secrets of the Great Tang armors.
The Great Tang players typically only had contact and cooperation with China Great Wall, barely interacting with other players.
Furthermore, with the Hundred Generals Trial Sword Task potentially leading to conflicts between players, it was understandable to be vigilant.
"There’s no need to worry. We are both human. Whether you are a Great Tang player or a Main World player, I will not make a move against you," the youth replied, trying to convey his goodwill as much as possible, and looked towards the ruins. "If you’re still not at ease, how about I go in front of you?"
The Great Tang player did not respond verbally but gestured for the youth to proceed, clearly still untrusting. That made sense, though; from the perspective of Great Tang players, only the officials and perhaps that General Li Ba were truly trustworthy, right?
"It’s a pity I’m not acquainted with General Li Ba. Well, let’s see what’s inside these ruins," the youth thought to himself.
Just as he was about to move,
he and the Great Tang player simultaneously turned their heads toward the direction of the jungle and took a defensive stance.
They felt a huge tremor approaching, something massive was drawing near!
