Seoul Object Story
Chapter 247

It was a massive, snow-white Hungry Ghost, like a giant rice cake.

Though smaller than the Hungry Ghost I’d seen in my previous dreams, its expression exuded far more confidence.

Gwooo!

After scattering the swarm of smaller “Nameless,” the isekai white Hungry Ghost let out a deep, resonant roar.

Its expression showed no trace of resentment, and its cry was far from cute.

Not to mention its rock-hard body!

My own Hungry Ghost, with its pitiful expression and adorable “kyuhinghing” cry, was definitely cuter.

The blue-haired girl approached the ugly Hungry Ghost, clearly delighted, and began petting it vigorously.

“Amazing! You found your way here!”

Despite its rough, stone-like texture, the blue-haired girl beamed as she stroked it, unbothered.

She thumped the white Hungry Ghost and shouted.

“Now go! Blast all the enemies away!”

Hearing the blue-haired girl’s command, the white Hungry Ghost charged forward with a confident expression.

It probably thought the “Nameless” it had so easily scattered weren’t much of a threat.

Hmm, but won’t the “Nameless” quickly adapt to such brute force attacks?

The “Nameless,” creating an atmosphere of terror with their slow movements and ability to seemingly teleport when unobserved, were clearly Objects capable of manipulating space.

Physical attacks relying on mass weren’t particularly effective against Objects that could manipulate space.

Sure enough, the arrogant white Hungry Ghost’s charge ended the moment it collided with the first “Nameless.”

Despite the enormous difference in size, Hungry Ghost couldn’t push the “Nameless” back and was instantly caught.

After anchoring itself in space, the “Nameless” began digging its sharp claws into Hungry Ghost.

The white Hungry Ghost was soon reduced to a shredded mess, like a torn-apart rice cake.

“Ah!”

The blue-haired girl cast a worried glance at Hungry Ghost, which was slowly regenerating from its severe wounds.

I approached the girl and extended my hand.

“Let me borrow the Hungry Ghost!”

The blue-haired girl stared at my face for a moment, then nodded and grasped my hand firmly.

“Alright. I’ll lend it to you.”

The blue-haired girl and I joined hands and began controlling the white Hungry Ghost together.

We each held Halo and the white Hungry Ghost’s core in our free hands.

Yerin’s inexhaustible firewood began seeping into Hungry Ghost’s core, while Halo settled onto the white Hungry Ghost’s head.

The white Hungry Ghost’s body turned black and began to crumble endlessly.

That ugly Hungry Ghost, perhaps of a lower rank than my cute Hungry Ghost, instantly burned to ash.

But the endless flames of firewood surging through its core began restoring Hungry Ghost’s disintegrated body.

An infinite cycle of destruction and regeneration.

This painful repetition was gradually rebirthing the white Hungry Ghost as a higher-ranked being.

With each crumbling, it advanced one small step—agonizingly slow, but steady.

It would need to crumble thousands of times to approach the level of the marshmallow Hungry Ghost, but it was progressing surely, if slowly.

As its rank increased, the white Hungry Ghost let out a pain-filled groan.

Kyuhinghing.

Simultaneously, Halo settled firmly on Hungry Ghost’s head, spreading white flames around it.

As these nullifying flames touched the “Nameless” fragments, their once-solid forms began vanishing like mirages.

It’s working!

Just as I thought we could easily last an hour like this, everything began to collapse.

!

The sky crumbled, the ground shattered, revealing an endless void beneath.

It felt like a failed timeline rewinding, but something was different.

The dream is collapsing.

The white flames were destroying the dream itself, created by Object abilities.

But we hadn’t seen the ending yet!

What should we do?

***

In the Sehee Institute’s lounge.

The room was always full of soundly sleeping people, perhaps because even an hour’s rest here felt like eight hours elsewhere.

In a corner of this lounge, a Bud Reaper slept, its leaves gently swaying in the moonlight.

Suddenly, transparent Bud Reapers began gathering around the pot containing the navy-blue glowing Bud Reaper.

These were special Bud Reapers, invisible to all except humans who had eaten their fruit.

The gathered Bud Reapers were slightly smaller than the one planted in the pot.

Aside from size, they looked identical, like younger siblings visiting their older sister.

Mom is calling us!

Mom's request.

Sister, wake up!

The smaller Bud Reapers poked the potted Bud Reaper’s chubby cheeks, trying to wake it.

Seemingly annoyed, the potted Bud Reaper furrowed its brow and burrowed deeper into the pot.

!

Startled, the smaller Bud Reapers grabbed the potted one’s Bud, preventing it from hiding.

Then began the smaller Bud Reapers’ assault.

They yanked it completely out of the pot, slapped its cheeks repeatedly, and pried open its eyelids.

But the older Bud Reaper just furrowed its brow and squirmed, refusing to wake.

Should we call a Red Reaper to set fire to its Bud?

As this idea spread, one younger Bud Reaper approached its older sibling, clearly furious.

“Ang!”

It opened its mouth wide and bit down hard on the older Bud Reaper’s plump cheek.

!!!!

Shocked awake, the older Bud Reaper’s eyes flew open.

A clear bite mark remained on its cheek.

?

Facing their confused older sibling, the younger Bud Reapers began projecting their will intensely.

Mom is calling us!

Mom needs us!

Hearing this, the older Bud Reaper nodded slightly, then walked out into the moonlight with a serious expression.

Thump thump.

The smaller Bud Reapers followed close behind.

Tree!

The older Bud Reaper raised both hands, projecting its will.

Tree!!!

The younger Bud Reapers also raised their hands, forming tree-like shapes.

Their Buds began flickering with navy light, then shot beams skyward.

The beams pointed towards Russia.

Towards where the Gray Reaper was.

This scene was witnessed by a single Golden Reaper passing through the lounge.

Mom?

It was one of the Golden Reapers diligently searching for the mom who had played the candy prank.

***

The white Hungry Ghost, its body charred black, screamed in an adorable voice.

Kyuhinghing.

The white Hungry Ghost has become even cuter!

The blue-haired girl smiled at the white Hungry Ghost, its voice now incomparably cuter than before.

But just as she was about to share this joy with the girl whose hand she held, the black and white-clad girl suddenly went limp, as if losing consciousness.

“Huh?”

She was still firmly grasping the blue-haired girl’s hand, so she hadn’t completely passed out, but something was clearly wrong.

The black and white-clad girl was definitely still there, solid and present, but for some reason, she seemed to be growing increasingly blurry.

It was as if she were a malfunctioning TV screen, distorting and filled with static.

Still holding hands, the blue-haired girl gently laid the limp girl on the ground.

“Are you okay?”

The blue-haired girl asked worriedly, but received no response.

This strange phenomenon soon began spreading to the white Hungry Ghost.

The halo of light above its head shook violently, as if unstable, and the flames regenerating the white Hungry Ghost’s body began to diminish.

What should I do? Should I let go and break the connection?

As the golden flames decreased, the white Hungry Ghost’s cracks grew more severe.

Moreover, the girl whose hand she held looked like she might vanish at any moment.

Boom!

Suddenly, massive trees erupted from the city’s outskirts with a tremendous roar.

These colossal trees encircled the city like protective walls.

They were mystical trees, their colors a swirling mix of gold and navy.

The trees were hazy, like mirages, yet undeniably present.

Around the black and white-clad girl, Magic Books that looked exactly like the blue-haired girl began to appear.

They were entirely navy blue.

They were only as big as a palm.

They had Buds growing from their heads.

And they looked younger, with adorably chubby cheeks.

Other than these differences, they were identical to the blue-haired girl.

These Bud Magic Books surrounded the black and white-clad girl with worried expressions. The one that seemed to be their leader had a clear bite mark on its cheek, which was slightly amusing.

To think the most confident-looking one had been bitten.

“Hehe.”

Perhaps hearing the blue-haired girl’s soft laugh?

The Bud Magic Books turned towards the sound, their expressions becoming extremely confused.

They looked back and forth between the blue-haired girl and the black and white-clad girl, tilting their heads in bewilderment.

Two moms?

***

Just as my vision began to blur, the real-world Siberia overlapping with the fantasy city—

Enormous trees shot up, firmly supporting the dream world.

The connection that seemed about to break due to Halo’s influence was reestablished by the Bud Reapers’ power.

As my blurry vision returned to normal, I regained consciousness.

Mom!

The moment I opened my eyes, the Bud Reapers piled onto me.

They’ve multiplied again!

There was definitely only one Bud Reaper before!

To think this joyless responsibility has proliferated once more.

The Bud Reapers wore confident expressions that seemed to say—

“We came to save Mom!”

As I stood up, still holding the blue-haired girl’s hand, the crumbling white Hungry Ghost became whole again.

Kyu!

The white Hungry Ghost let out a victorious roar.

Immediately, a massive amount of white flames spread in all directions, falling like snow over the entire city.

These flames were nullifying snowflakes, erasing the “Nameless” fragments.

“We won!”

I grinned confidently at the blue-haired girl.

But “Nameless” didn’t seem ready to end things here.

A massive gust suddenly blew from the deep, dark clouds.

Amidst roaring thunder, the clouds were torn apart, revealing a hideous arm in its entirety.

That arm grasped the enormous crack in the sky and slowly began to tear it open.

What gradually emerged from the crack was far more massive and chilling than I had imagined.

It seemed like the embodiment of all human malice.

Its grotesquely twisted body began scraping at the city, as if crawling with one arm.

With each scar etched into the city, “Nameless’” terrifying true form emerged further from the crack.

The presence exuded by “Nameless’” true form was so powerful that even those unconnected to Objects could feel it.

I felt a slight tremor in the hand I held with the blue-haired girl.

“The Magic Book that killed a god.”

The blue-haired girl murmured softly, gazing up at the sky.
