Seoul Object Story -
Chapter 209: The Labyrinth (3)
I was lying in the courtyard of Sehee Research Institute, where the warm sunlight was trickling down, eating pudding and watching the Mini Reapers.
Since the number of Mini Reapers that left the institute riding the Cloud Fish was quite large, the courtyard of Sehee Research Institute felt a little deserted.
In that relatively quiet courtyard of Sehee Research Institute, my eyes landed on a strange Golden Reaper.
It was a Golden Reaper that wandered around the people with a somewhat hesitant expression. It also ran away as soon as it made eye contact with me.
Each Golden Reaper indeed had a slightly different personality, but it was the first time I had seen one that was that different.
It was a Golden Reaper, but I had never made eye contact with it properly because it disappeared when I tried to look at it properly.
For some reason, I smelled something interesting…
I looked at the place where the Golden Reaper had run away after making eye contact a little while ago and smiled sinisterly.
***
Plop-! Plop-!The Black Reaper was carefully walking through the thick shadow created by the intense light of the fake sun, chasing after its precious human.
Its precious human was wearing sturdy leather shoes and walking briskly along the gravel road. However, despite her confident gait, she was hiding sadness, loneliness, and despair in her heart.
The Black Reaper wanted to rush over and comfort its precious human right away, but it couldn’t do so because she was afraid of it.
The Black Reaper felt depressed, lost its form, and melted into something like slime.
Biiii-!
At the same time, it made a pitiful sound that no one could hear.
I wanted to comfort the precious human.
I want to play with the precious human.
I want to be praised by the precious human.
The Black Reaper seeped into the gravel, hoping that it could win the love of the precious human like the other countless Mini Reapers.
Even though there were many people around it, no one noticed the Black Reaper, which had changed form into something like slime and flowed through the cracks of the gravel.
The Black Reaper, who had been chasing the precious human from afar by feeling her emotions, was suddenly startled.
!
The precious human is gone!
The startled Black Reaper hurriedly entered the mouth of the labyrinth where the attachment human had disappeared into. As the Black Reaper entered, a completely different space greeted it. However, such things did not matter to the Black Reaper.
The precious human is in danger!
To the Black Reaper, the labyrinth seemed like a powerful but harmless Object. However, upon entering the labyrinth, it turned into a ‘harmful’ Object full of the intention to kill humans. Furthermore, even though they had clearly entered through the same entrance, the precious human’s emotions could be felt so far away from it.
The Black Reaper slipped through the cracks in the wall before haphazardly destroying the wall blocking it and charging toward its precious human.
The precious human is anxious.
The walls of the labyrinth were extremely strong, but it wasn’t much of a problem for the Black Reaper. After all, it had the strength and power to chew through even the immortal metal made through alchemy!
However, the Black Reaper lacked the speed of the Golden Reaper. Before long, the precious human began to feel more anxious as she felt like her life was being threatened.
No!
The Black Reaper gathered all its strength, turned its body into thorns, and shot them out. By penetrating countless walls, it was able to successfully save its precious human right before she was attacked.
Biiii-!
Inside the wolf’s body, the Black Reaper let out a howl of joy and performed the harmful Object removal method it had learned.
First, it infiltrated the body and destroyed its brain, and then it destroyed the heart where energy was gathered. It also cut off its spine joint by joint, and shredded all the muscles and bones.
In the end, it rips the head off!
After it performed the strongest attack that its strong mother had taught it, the wolf couldn’t endure it and collapsed helplessly.
In the Black Death’s opinion, the removal method he had performed this time was really perfect and fast.
As expected, Mom is amazing!
I’m doing it well, aren’t i?
The Black Reaper jumped out in a cheering pose, expecting to be praised. Unfortunately, its beloved human’s reaction was completely different from what it had expected.
She fainted as if she had seen something terrible.
The precious human is scared.
The precious human is so surprised that she hurt herself.
The Black Death melted with a gloomy expression, and cried softly.
Does the precious human hate the Black Reaper?
The fallen precious human was frowning while tossing and turning as if she was having a nightmare. It felt sorry for her, so it patted her cheek with its small hand, but it didn’t have much effect.
Instead, a red palm mark made of sticky blood was left on her cheek.
The Black Reaper looked down at the precious human and decided to approach her in a slightly different way. Since the precious human hated it, it was determined to be with her in a different way.
It’s okay if you don’t particularly like me.
I want to be with you.
It’ll be a little sad, but it’s okay.
The Black Reaper thought so and thought hard with its small head about the way to be with her.
***
The girl had a dream.
It was a dream where a huge monster with black skin emerged from the wolf’s stomach. It was a terrible monster that tore the wolf apart terribly, like the alien from a certain movie.
It was a nightmare in which the girl could not move a finger as if she was pinned down, even when the monster was tearing the wolf apart. The monster that tore the wolf apart slowly approached her, showing off its ominous black sheen, and began to touch her cheek with its sticky, blood-stained tongue.
The feeling of blood on her cheek was truly realistic.
“Heok!”
The moment the girl woke up from the nightmare, she was startled and raised her upper body. When she looked around, all she could see was a burning green ominous torch, a backpack torn to pieces, a dungeon rose, and the headless corpse of a wolf that had become a mess.
It wasn’t a dream…
As soon as the girl saw the wolf’s corpse, she bent down and retched. Even now, if she closed her eyes, she could still see the wolf writhing terribly.
Before long, although she felt dizzy and nauseous, the girl had no choice but to force herself to calm down. After all, she was hungry and didn’t know where she was. If she continued to stay still, she would wander through the labyrinth and starve to death.
The girl slowly got up on her trembling legs and quickly checked her body condition. Aside from the fact that she had lost little to no blood despite encountering such a horrific and strange phenomenon, there was no problem.
“This is why I had such a nightmare.”
The girl muttered as she ran her palm over her cheek and saw the large amount of blood that was dripping down.
Just what is this?
The girl held back the feeling of wanting to vomit as she examined the wolf’s corpse, but she didn’t see any traces. She thought she had seen something glowing yellow right before she fainted, but she couldn’t remember clearly because she was so surprised.
“I’m hungry.”
After fighting the wolf fiercely and collapsing from shock, her hunger was getting worse. Her arms and legs had no strength at all, perhaps because she was moving too much while starving. In the end, the girl had no choice but to stop investigating the wolf’s cause of death and move.
The girl gathered up the torn dungeon roses and stuffed them into her pocket. It wasn’t something worth selling, but she decided to bring it just in case.
She then opened the map book, stood in front of the torch, and took a deep breath.
It’s scary.
Another wolf-like monster could appear.
She could die from an unidentified phenomenon just like the wolf.
If I keep standing still, I’ll just starve to death.
The girl gritted her teeth and manipulated the torch with trembling hands. The room flipped upside down again, and a passageway opened up on the other side.
“If I want to make it to the end of the labyrinth and return home, I can’t be discouraged by this!”
The girl shouted loudly as if trying to dispel her fear, and slowly went to the other room.
The place she arrived at was a room that gave off an extremely mysterious atmosphere. It was no different from the other rooms, but the reason for the mysterious atmosphere was because of the sword which was stuck in the center of the room.
A sword of form she had never seen before. It was a short sword that was easy to handle with one hand. It was a simple sword with only a blade and a handle, but there was something uniquely intimidating about the sword.
The girl looked at the sword and her eyes sparkled in wonder.
They say items come out of dungeons, so this is how it is, huh?
The girl approached the sword carefully and pulled out the black sword. The grip felt like it was a custom-made sword that fit comfortably in the hand. The sword itself was so light that it felt almost weightless, as if it was hollow.
However, that made her worried.
Is it really a proper weapon if it’s this light?
The color was completely different from a normal sword, so it felt like a decoration. Still, perhaps because it was the first proper ‘item’ she got from a dungeon, the girl was quite excited.
And for some reason, the sword seemed to be happy too.
***
The girl who had been so excited about getting the sword soon became humble again.
“Go away!”
The girl swung the sword, which was as light as a sorghum straw, around recklessly. In front of her, a swallow, which had a long blade instead of a foot, flew freely through the sky and easily dodged the girl’s sword strikes.
“Haa… Haa…”
The girl was breathing heavily and thinking. The swallow was strangely wary of the girl’s swordsmanship, so although she hadn’t been attacked yet, it didn’t seem like the standoff would continue.
I should cut that swallow with my sword? Does that make sense?
The girl muttered to herself, wondering if she was being asked to imitate the famous swordsman.
The moment the girl felt the swallow’s gaze change, the swallow began to fly straight toward her at a speed she had never seen before.
This is my end!
The girl was so flustered by the speed that she didn’t even think about swinging her sword. But then, a strange phenomenon occurred. The sword that she hadn’t even swung elongated and split into three pieces, instantly cutting the flying swallow to pieces.
The swallow, who had been hit exactly three times, was cut into four pieces and fell to the ground.
What… what is this?
The girl stared blankly at the swallow’s corpse on the ground, dumbfounded by the strange phenomenon her sword had caused.
