Chapter 92: Out of Character
When I returned to my room, the fatigue from all of the activities finally caught up to me. My stomach growled from hunger.
I stepped into the shower to rinse off the sweat and other fluids from my body. Christian’s scent lingered all over my body, making it seem like he was here with me.
As soon as I came out of the bathroom, the maid knocked on my door.
"Second Miss, breakfast will be served soon."
"Thank you," I replied, doing my best to sound like I had just woken up.
Looking at my bed, I noticed that it looked untouched. I quickly pulled the blanket up and rolled around a few times to make it seem like I actually slept in my bed last night.
"I hope I have some time to sleep at the office today. These sleepless nights are starting to add up," I mumbled on my way to the closet.
-
The outfit I chose was nothing special. Simply a caramel colored blouse and a white skirt. I had some time left over, so I tied it up into a simple knot, securing it with a large pin.
Not having anything else to do, I decided to head over to the dining room even though it was still a little early.
I only waited for a few minutes before Morgan came strutting over with a ’larger than life’ attitude.
"You’re up early. You must’ve slept well," she said with a smile.
What is happening?
Not only did Morgan not immediately make a snarky comment as soon as she saw me, but she even smiled sweetly. I thought my eyes were deceiving me.
She walked over and took a seat at the table, sitting calmly without making an additional sound.
Did she like touch herself for the first time or something?
Whatever the reason was, it caused her to be unrecognizable. I took a seat beside her, waiting for the rest to arrive.
About five minutes later, everyone else arrived one after another. The moment that Christian walked into the room, Morgan nearly had a heart attack.
Her red face and watery eyes looked at Christian as if he were the last remaining man on the planet. If I didn’t know any better, I would think that she spent the night with him.
As soon as he took a seat at the table, she fluttered her eyelashes. "Christian, how was...last night?"
The words were full of implied context. Everyone at the table paused and looked at her and Christian. Even my mother, who had just arrived, paused and looked at the two of them.
Christian looked unfazed and flashed her a big smile, "Better than anything I could have asked for."
His words caused the rest of us women to blush. My cheeks flushed pink while Cherie was torn between feeling shy and angry.
My mother glared at Morgan, dying to ask her what was going on. She looked at my father, begging him to ask about the situation, but instead of a similarly angry look, he seemed very content.
The table stayed awkwardly silent until the food was served. Everyone wanted to know what Morgan’s words implied, but nobody wanted to be the one who asked.
Only after the atmosphere became insufferable did Morgan speak up once more, "I wish to go shopping this afternoon. Will the driver be available?"
Before my mother could answer, Cherie perked up. "Shopping?! I want to go too! It’s been so long since I’ve shopped in this country."
Morgan frowned, glancing at her. Though she seemed visibly upset, she didn’t say anything.
"That’s a great idea. You girls should go out and have some fun. Leslie, you should go too," said my mother.
I looked up at her, "But I have work...."
"Surely you can take an afternoon off. What do you say, Christian?"
Christian nodded politely, "Of course. I’m not so insufferable as to deny a request for an afternoon off."
"Perfect. It’s settled then. I’ll send the driver for you at noon, Leslie." My mother nodded, approving of the plans. Morgan didn’t react much, and Cherie continued to eat her food with a smug expression.
I didn’t want to go shopping with these two, but I had no choice in the matter.
I just hope Yulia doesn’t need me in the afternoon. I’ll have to apologize later.
-
After breakfast, Christian boldly offered to drive me to work. What was more surprising was the fact that Morgan had no reaction to it. She showed no jealousy or anger, only staring at him with infatuated eyes.
This is getting creepy.
Not waiting for her to change her mind, I quickly followed behind Christian to his car. As soon as we drove out, I looked at him.
"Well, Morgan was quite different this morning. What do you think caused her to act so out of character?" I asked.
"Are you sure you want to know?" he asked.
"Umm, we’ll I’m curious," I said, unsure.
"As much as I don’t want to admit this, but there’s a one hundred percent chance that she spent all night touching herself to the thought of me with her thong."
"Oh, gross!" I said, trying to delete the mental imagery from my mind. "I had a feeling it was something along those lines, but for some reason, saying it out loud makes it worse. Also, what did you end up doing with her thong?"
Christian grinned, "I left them in the center of the bed. There’s no way whoever walks into that room to clean doesn’t see them."
"What?! Why?" I asked. Doing that would only confirm that something happened between them last night.
Christian shrugged his shoulders, "To have some fun. Plus, if I draw attention to her, they’ll pay less attention to you. I don’t want your father to be suspicious of you after the incident with the photos."
"Then I have to thank you," I smiled. At first, I thought that he had gone crazy, too, but after hearing his reasoning, I felt happy that he thought of me.

The moment we arrived at the office, we both let out a big yawn. The fatigue was hitting us hard.
On our way up to our office, we passed by Blake, who had just arrived.
"Good morning, Sir. Good morning, Miss," he greeted us politely.
I returned the greeting while Christian turned to face him. "Good morning, Blake. Could you do me a favor and cancel or postpone my morning meeting today? I’ve got something important I need to do."
"Of course, Sir. I’ll get right on that," he replied and hurried to his office.
In the elevator, I looked at him curiously, "What sort of important thing do you have to do?" Usually, I didn’t ask him about his business, but curiosity got the better of me this time.
He flashed a wide grin. "Take a nap, of course."
