Secretly Mine
Chapter 27: Different

Chapter 27: Different

My heart trembled as I waited for his answer. I could only picture myself in his situation- angry and betrayed.

"I don’t believe you would have betrayed me," he finally said after a brief silence.

My eyes widened. I looked at him, trying to find his reasoning from any facial expressions, but nothing revealed itself.

"Why?" I breathed out in a barely audible volume.

Christian leaned in, about to place a kiss on my lips.

"Because you’re different, Leslie."

His lips touched mine, and my heart swelled with emotions. Before I knew it, I had streams of tears running down my face.

There it was again, another first. It was the first time in my life that I heard someone say that I was different from my family. The first time I was seen as an individual and not just an entity of the Moresi family.

The feeling was so...liberating.

My tears began to flow heavily as the resentment and isolation I felt throughout my entire life began to burst through the walls I built to suppress them.

Instead of panicking or leaving, Christian hugged me tighter and allowed me to cry all of my emotions out.

I wasn’t sure how long it was that we sat embracing on his bed, but it felt like hours. Christian didn’t once rush me or make me feel like I was bothering him.

After crying my heart out, I looked up at Christian and allowed him to wipe the tears from my face.

"What do I do? If I don’t come back home with information, it’ll only be a matter of time before my father finds me useless and locks me back up at the house."

Christian smiled, "Just tell him."

"But wouldn’t that hurt you? I don’t want to do that to you." My hands wrapped around his arm.

"Haha, it’s okay, I promise. You don’t have to tell him everything, and some of the things you do tell him can be fake. Like today, for instance: you saw me meet with the Lombardi’s and overheard that I will attend a dinner event with them on Friday night."

"So you want me to lie to my father? What if he figures out it isn’t true?" I asked.

A huge smile bloomed on Christian’s face. "Shouldn’t you be more upset about lying to your father?"

I was stunned. For some reason, I didn’t feel bad at all. Maybe it was because it was my family and not someone else that lying to my father didn’t seem to bother me much at all.

Whose side are you on, Leslie?

Christian laughed at my contemplative expression, "I won’t ever force you to do anything you don’t want to."

I quickly shook my head, "No, it’s only right that my father gets the taste of his own medicine. I don’t agree with his methods."

"Well, either way, don’t stress about it too much because I will, in fact, be meeting with the Lombardi’s on Friday night," he smiled.

Nodding, I wasn’t sure why he would want to send my father this information, but from his carefree smile, I knew there must be some sort of plan.

"Okay, I will pass this information along," I said.

After our heartfelt discussion, Christian wrapped the robe around me. "Come, let me show you to your office."

I looked at him, horrified. I was only wearing his grey robe, and nothing else underneath. I couldn’t imagine the amount of gossip I would cause to spread if I walked around the office building dressed this way.

"Come, let’s head over now." Christian took me by the hand and walked me back into his office.

Instead of going to the double doors to leave his office, we walked to the direct opposite side of the room, where more lacquered cabinets lined the walls.

Another pocket door?

Just as I thought, he lightly pushed on the panel, and a small door swung open, leading into a generously sized office.

"This was originally designed to be Blake’s office, allowing him a secret side entrance into my office for convenience, but he insisted on taking the office by the elevator instead," explained Christian.

Office by the elevator?

I didn’t notice any other doors on this floor, but I assumed they must all be hidden pocket doors.

"You have your main entrance over there. The door blends into the wall, so look for where the wall light is hanging to find it. Of course, you’re more than welcome to step into my office whenever you like."

Christian leaned over and kissed my exposed neck.

The office wasn’t as big as Christian’s, but it was massive. Instead of dark colors, this office seemed to be recently remodeled to follow a feminine aesthetic.

It was light and bright, with the use of bright pastel colors and light wood. The overall atmosphere felt very cheerful.

"Thank you, I really love it", I said as I looked around.

All of the furniture was high quality, and the computer, along with other small appliances, was top of the line. There was also a pink velvet couch by the entrance, mimicking the layout of Christian’s office.

Although the couch was pink, it gave off a fresh floral vibe instead of an overpowering girly one. I liked everything about this room, especially the hidden entrance into Christian’s office.

Christian led me to take a seat at my desk. I felt like a CEO from this perspective, sitting in a luxurious executive chair behind a large desk.

"It suits you very well. Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to change or add", he said, placing his hands on my shoulders as he stood behind me.

I leaned back in the chair and looked up at him with a big smile, "No, it’s perfect the way it is."

The next moment, I felt Christian’s hands slide down from my shoulders, under the robe, landing on my breasts.

My body instantly reacted as a wave of desire washed down me.

"I think we need to break in the new furniture, what do you think?" he whispered behind me. His breath tickled my ears in the best way possible.

Instead of answering, I pulled the sash on my robe, allowing it to flutter open.

"Good girl."
