Chapter 21: Vittoria Global (2) [Christian POV]

"Forgive me, sir. The traffic today is very bad, we might be late," my driver said.

I wonder if Leslie saw the note I left her.

"Sir?"

She looked so cute at breakfast after her father made his very first likable suggestion, asking if she could work for me.

"Sir, we will be arriving shortly."

I know exactly which office I want to give her. I hope she comes today.

"Sir, we’re here."

I looked up and noticed that the car was parked in front of my company building.

"Oh, Johnathan, you made it here so fast. Good work!" I smiled as I got out.

His expression seemed a little off, but I didn’t question it and walked inside. The receptionists greeted me as I walked over to my personal elevator, the leftmost one.

The entire ride up to the top floor, the only thing I could think of was Leslie. Her misty eyes and subtle smiles had me completely preoccupied.

"Good morning CEO Vittoria. Mr. Webb is waiting for you in your office," my secretary greeted me.

"Morning, thanks, Blake."

What does Zachary want from me today?

I pushed through the doors of my office to see my good friend napping on one of the leather couches in my office.

"Wake up," I kicked him with my foot before dropping off my briefcase on my desk.

"Whoa!" he jumped up, startled. "You’re finally here, I thought you got here earlier."

It is early, what are you talking about?

I looked down at my watch and finally realized how late it was. "Yeah, I didn’t even realize how late it was. What’s up, why are you here?"

"Jeez, can’t a man visit his friend?" laughed Zach.

"You’re bored, got it. How can I help?" I smiled back.

Zach has been my best friend since childhood, and I knew him like the back of my hand.

"C’mon, man, you don’t have to call me out like that. My dad’s already threatening me to get my ass back to the company but you know me, I’m not built for that kind of thing like my brothers are."

"Yeah, you’re built for partying and beautiful women, I know", I laughed, shaking my head.

"Okay, but it’s not like I’m a lowlife! I’ve always been respectful to every woman I’ve been with!" he stated proudly.

Zach had always been a love-struck kind of guy. He fell in love as quickly as he fell out of love, but it was true that he always treated his women well.

"If you’re bored, go get me some information on the Moresi auction house. I’ll even pay you."

Zach perked up, "I don’t need your money, but that red vintage sports car you have is calling my name."

I rolled my eyes. "Fine, bring me information worthy of the car, and it’s yours."

"Deal! By the way, how did your engagement party go? Did you have fun?" he teased as he stood up.

Fun? I had more than fun.

A small smile crept up on my face as Leslie’s face appeared in my mind.

"Yeah, it was fun", I said, looking away.

"Oh ho, ho! Don’t tell me this eldest Miss Moresi has captured your heart!" he exclaimed dramatically.

"God no!" I frowned.

Morgan’s infatuated eyes shattered the beautiful image I had in my head. While she was pretty in her own kind of way, it didn’t hold a candle to Leslie’s feral beauty.

Looks really aren’t everything.

I looked over and saw the teasing smirk on Zach’s face.

"Okay, get out of here. I have work to do." I dismissed him, waving towards the door.

He chuckled and made his way towards the door, "Fine, fine. But you can’t escape this topic forever. I can tell there’s something you’re not telling me about this situation!"

I waved him off as I took a seat in my chair, leaning back.

Zachary left, giving me a moment of quiet, but before I could fully relax, I heard a knock on my door.

What now?

"Come in", I called out, folding my arms over my chest.

"Sir, the receptionist sent a message saying that you have a visitor. There was no prior reservation made", said Blake.

He was my personal assistant and my right-hand man when it came to company matters.

"If there was no appointment, then why didn’t she just turn them away? You know my rules", I sighed, wondering why I had to explain such a simple matter.

"The receptionist said it was a young woman from the Moresi family. She felt—"

"Why didn’t you say earlier? How long has she been waiting?" I stood up from my chair.

Blake looked visibly surprised at my reaction, but I didn’t have the time to explain.

"About twenty minutes, sir", he replied.

Twenty minutes? Fuck.

I stood up and stormed out of the office, making my way towards the elevator.

For the first time in my life, I felt like the elevator was moving at snail’s pace.

C’mon, hurry up.

As the elevator doors finally opened, I immediately caught sight of her beautiful chestnut brown hair. She was sitting in the waiting area, staring at the reception desk, watching intently.

What’s so interesting?

I followed her line of sight, where I found a boisterous, round man arguing with the receptionist. Behind him were two scantily dressed women.

"Tell him that I’m good at sucking, I can drain his balls in a minute flat"

The first words out of the young woman’s mouth made me pause momentarily. This was the first time I heard someone proclaim such....skills. And so proudly, too.

These people have no class.

"Forgive me, sir, but I don’t believe the CEO would be interested in such an offer." The receptionist did her best to diffuse the awkward situation, but the man clearly didn’t back down.

"AND HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT? Go and call him over, I’m sure he’ll be thrilled", he yelled.

I couldn’t take this nonsense any longer. I’ve already made Leslie wait long enough, and just the sight of her stirred something inside of me.

Without waiting any longer, I walked over, tapping Leslie on the shoulder.

"I apologize to inform you that my receptionist is correct, I am not interested in your offer. In fact, I find it quite appalling."

Everyone looked over at me with realization. I knew that my words wouldn’t shut him up, so I pressed on and informed everyone that I was engaged.

All eyes shifted from me to Leslie, who was standing beside me.

"Oh, is this your future wife? She’s a pretty one." The man looked at Leslie with a tinge of desire.

"Oh no, I’m not—" Leslie tried to explain.

I took a step forward, shielding Leslie from his lustful eyes. For some reason, the misunderstanding didn’t bother me at all. I would be lying to say that a part of me didn’t want people to think this way.

"Sir, asking such personal questions when you don’t even know me is rude. Please leave before I have security escort you out," I said, motioning towards the door.

As they finally walked away, the young woman turned around and made an inappropriate gesture, "CEO Vittoria, if you ever change your mind, feel free to call me!"

I felt disgust bubbling in the pit of my stomach.

After the matter was finally settled, I led Leslie to my elevator. The moment the doors closed, my body moved on its own as I pushed Leslie against the wall.

Her cheeks flushed pink while her misty eyes looked up at me. I reached out and cupped her cheeks in my hands, feeling the softness of her delicate skin.

"God, Leslie, I missed you so much."

The words came out in a soft whisper as I leaned down to kiss her on the lips.

I felt her body squirm as I pressed her against the wall. Her every motion sent a spark of fire through my body.

The air in the elevator turned hot and heavy as we both gasped for air before we went right back to clashing our lips together.

I moved my hands down to pull the neckline of her dress away, exposing her delicate neck. After pulling the fabric a little more, I found the small red marks I had left earlier.

Looking at them nearly sent me into an uncontrollable frenzy, wanting to rip her clothes off and take her here and now.

Instead, I gently kissed her neck, listening to how her breathing spiked as my lips pressed against her skin.

From this position, I could clearly smell her intoxicating scent mixed with her usual soft perfume.

"Christian, the elevator", she breathed into my ear.

Unlike the way down, the ride up seemed to go by in an instant blur. I could swear it moved at different speeds just to torture me.

I pulled away just as I heard the bell ding and the doors open. Leslie adjusted her dress before we stepped out into the hall, walking straight to my office where we could have some much-needed privacy.
