Chapter 631: Chapter 631 Quarrels Are Not Good for Her
Yvette anxiously waited for the call from Lance. When the phone rang, she answered it immediately.
"Lance, how is going on now?"
Her voice trembled because she was afraid that something bad would happen to Ellen.
"I asked Frankie to bring the best people to look for her and called the police, but she is not in the missing place now. We are still looking for her."
He did not hide the truth because it was useless to lie to Yvette on the basis of her character.
If she couldn’t get any news about Ellen, she would go out to look for her.
In that case, he would be even more worried about her.
Yvette burst into tears and asked, "Is Ellen in danger?"
"It’s okay. Don’t worry. I’ve already told Jamie. I believe we’ll find her soon," Lance comforted her.
"What?" Yvette was shocked.
She shouted, "How could you tell Jamie? He is the murderer. Ellen has no enemies in New York. When the company of Mr. Robbins went bankrupt, she borrowed money and gave compensation to the employees. No one in New York wants to hurt her except Jamie. I think he is the one who asked someone to hurt Ellen."
"It’s not him," Lance said calmly. "Believe me, Yve, Ellen is his child’s mother. He won’t kill her. Right now, only Jamie can find her."
The longer he delayed, the more dangerous she would be.
He did not tell Yvette this because he was afraid that she would worry too much.
"Is it possible for Jamie to treat Bobby as his own child?" Yvette doubted.
After all, Jamie always showed that he would give up everything for his own benefit.
In addition, Jamie did a lot of things out of line, so Yvette didn’t believe that he would show his mercy just because Ellen was Bobby’s mother.
"Believe me, Yvette. I believe that he won’t hurt Bobby or allow anyone to hurt Ellen," Lance said.
There were many things that he could persuade but not interfere with. After all, Bobby was the child of Jamie.
No one else had the right to say anything.
However, Jamie used to ask him if he knew good heart doctors, which showed that he was not as cold as he appeared.
In fact, it had been a long time since they last met because of the relationship between Ellen and Yvette.
They didn’t have the same idea. Moreover, Lance was a henpecked husband, and his children were still young, so he simply contacted with Jamie as less as possible.
There was no need to explain some things among adults. The tacit alienation was the last dignity.
He believed that Jamie knew it, so he didn’t contact him. But this time, for the sake of the child, he swallowed his pride and asked Lance.
Therefore, he attached great importance to Bobby.
Yvette didn’t need to worry about that.
Lance said, "I’ve already arranged for it. I’ll fly back tonight. Frankie will take his men to look for her. Don’t go out alone to look for her. Just stay at home and wait for the news. Wait for me to come back, okay?"
Yvette was at a loss now. She wanted to go out to look for Ellen, but she did not have as many methods as Frankie’s professional followers. If she went out, she would make trouble.
If something happened to her, Frankie had to send someone to help her, which might delay the search for Ellen.
Therefore, she stayed at home as Lance required, waiting for the news.
"Your project is at the most important stage. Will it affect you if you come back now?" Yvette asked.
"It’s okay. I’ve already handed it over to the supervisor here. Looking for Ellen is urgent now," Lance said gently.
Yvette was touched and said, "Have a safe trip. Sleep as much as you can on the plane."
She knew that he must have not slept well in the past two days because of the time difference and the high-intensity work.
She felt sorry for him, but she could support him only.
"Well, I know. When this project is over, I’ll have a long vacation with you and babies."
After they got married, Lance rarely went on a business trip unless it was necessary.
The main reason was that the children were still young. Even if there were many nannies, he would not be at ease with Kamila Bard and Tanya Hudson taking care of them.
Moreover, Yvette was in nursing period, so it was easy for her to have psychological problems. Lance reduced his work and tried to stay at home to accompany her as much as possible.
However, this project was the key to expanding the overseas market.
Foreign countries had always used all kinds of technology to restrict America. Lance also wanted to contribute to his country and try his best to expand the overseas market and increase the influence of his motherland.
It also made his energy industry indispensable to other countries.
Therefore, he attached great importance to this project and had gone abroad many times.
But time was always limited. Sometimes, he would land on the ground and stay there for twelve hours and then fly back, because he missed his babies and was worried that Yvette would be unhappy at home.
This was indeed a critical moment. After hanging up the phone, Lance seized the little time to continue the meeting. When the plane was ready, he went back home.
The project was important to him, so was the feeling of Yvette.
At their wedding, he promised that he would never let her face something bad alone in the future.
...
Jamie suddenly wanted to leave, so he didn’t eat much.
Kaya was not pleased. She seemed to have heard someone on the phone mentioning Ellen, so her unhappiness instantly turned into extreme uneasiness.
"Jamie."
Kaya suddenly stood up and grabbed his arm.
Jamie stood still and looked at her as if he was waiting for her to speak.
During this period, the relationship between them became more and more estranged. They were engaged, but they were not as good as colleagues in the two departments of the company. At least, colleagues said hello to each other.
Women’s intuition had always been very subtle. Kaya felt that Jamie seemed to avoid her.
He was either on a business trip or working all night. So, he almost had no time to accompany her.
Even for today’s meal, it was because she told him that she had offered incense in front of the McBride family memorial tablet, so Jamie had agreed to have supper with her.
But he didn’t even take a sip of the soup she made.
Kaya moved her lips and said, "I’ve cooked this soup for six hours, but you didn’t taste it yet."
She wanted to ask him if he was going to look for Ellen, but she didn’t dare to ask.
The more she said, the more annoying he would be. As long as she didn’t say anything, she was still his fiancee and would become his wife.
It wouldn’t do her any good if they had an open quarrel.
Jamie said expressionlessly, "I have something urgent to deal with. I’ll take it next time."
He pulled his arm and frowned slightly, looking a little impatient with Kaya who was tugging at him.
Kaya was sensible and immediately let go of her hand. She maintained a smile on her face and said, "Go ahead and do your work. Don’t forget to eat even if you’re busy. I’ll cook soup for you next time."
Seeing her happy face, Jamie frowned slightly but didn’t say anything more.
Kaya acted as if she didn’t see the discomfort of Jamie. She gently and considerately took his coat and put it on him.
Seeing that he was about to reach the door, Kaya called out to him again, "Jamie."
