Secretary's Secret Lover -
Chapter 606 I Love You
Chapter 606: Chapter 606 I Love You
At the foot of the mountain at the border town.
Sitting in the courtyard, Ellen wrapped in a thick down jacket. She was basking in the sun and squinting comfortably.
The door was opened.
The puppy in the yard took the lead in wagging its tail to greet the people.
Kenyon came with two black fish and a basket of jujube.
Ellen got up, took the medical bag from his shoulder, and said, "Did Adam give it to you?"
"Yes, but it’s said that it’s wild and nutritious, so he asked me to make soup for you."
After Kenyon put down the things, he put a meatball on the puppy’s plate. He said, "Blackie, you can have a good meal today."
Blackie wagged its tail and happily ate the meatball.
Kenyon said while feeding Blackie, "Did you be a good dog today? I’m not at home. You have to help me protect my Ellen."
Ellen burst out laughing as she listened. "It’s only a puppy, and you’re talking about it every day..."
Kenyon stood up, clapped his hands, and said, "When I was a child, some elders said that black dogs had intelligence. If you say it a few more times, it would remember."
Ellen didn’t expect Kenyon to believe in such things when he was so young and had received a good education.
In fact, she didn’t know that Kenyon began to believe it because she was sick.
Sometimes, people had no choice but to pray.
He hoped that God would take pity on her.
Ellen was miserable enough. Every day, he prayed that god would treat this woman better.
She could be healthy and that was enough.
Ellen asked, "How’s Adam’s wife?"
"She caught a cold. I got her some medicine. She will be fine soon."
"That’s good," Ellen said.
It had been almost half a year since they came to this remote village.
The night they escaped, they decided not to go abroad.
It was impossible not to leave traces if they went abroad.
Usually, the most dangerous place was the safest place.
They chose to stay in the country. On the way, they changed a car in an abandoned parking lot and drove westward for seven days.
Along the way, they would find an abandoned parking lot to exchange for a car every time they went to a town.
When they passed by here, they had changed five cars.
The car tires were broken, and a man in the village enthusiastically asked them to rest.
Then, the man found a garage to repair the car, but there had never been a car stopped in this place. The man was a bike repairman, so he couldn’t repair it after a long time.
Kenyon said that he didn’t want to repair the car. It was originally a car that was about to be abandoned. Even if it was sent to the car repair shop, it might not be repaired.
He gave the man a few hundred dollars as a token of his gratitude.
However, the man refused. He even enthusiastically invited them to stay overnight.
At night, the man set up a bonfire for them. There were not many people in the village, only a dozen or so, all of whom were lonely old people.
There were only two couples left in this village.
He said that the village would soon be abandoned because no young people were there.
When they died, the village would be completely empty.
In the evening, everyone came. Because they hadn’t seen young people for a long time, the old people were very enthusiastic about them, but they didn’t gossip about their backgrounds at all. They just talked about what had happened in the outside world.
That night, Ellen felt a long-lost warmth. Those men kept calling her "Elley", reminding her of her parents when they were still alive.
At night, these men thought they were husband and wife, so they specially reserved a room for them.
Ellen slept on the bed, while Kenyon slept on the floor.
Ellen listened to the chirping of insects outside the window and suddenly said, "Ken, let’s live here."
This place was fated with them.
They were going to buy a house here, but the old man said that it was fate that they could stay here. There were a pair of 100-year-old people in the village who died. This house was blessed, so they let them live there.
Ellen looked at the house and fell in love with it immediately. There were three main rooms, a well, and a large courtyard with an osmanthus tree. It was summer, and the fragrance was so fragrant that it made people dizzy.
Therefore, they settled down here.
In order to thank the men in the village, Kenyon helped them get the medicine for free.
The village was blocked, and the nearest town was more than 30 miles away. Kenyon bought a motorcycle and a three-wheeler.
He knew that Ellen should be protected well.
At first, in order to hide their tracks, they had not left the village for three months.
Fortunately, there were fruits, vegetables, chickens, ducks, and fish here, which were completely self-sufficient.
In the next three months, Kenyon would go back to town once a week to bring necessities to the villagers and ask about the situation in New York.
She knew that Jamie was under investigation because of the scandal of sexual abuse.
Just as he was in a dilemma, the shareholders in the McBride Group voted for him to quit his job and claimed that he was in recuperation. In fact, everyone knew that he had quit his job.
However, Jamie was not someone who could be defeated so easily. After two months, he returned to the McBride Group through his engagement with Kaya Hawkins, the daughter of the Hawkins family.
After that, he frequently did charity work with Kaya and showed off their love.
Then, he began to keep a low profile, as if Ellen’s disappearance did not affect him at all.
However, it wasn’t hard to see that he hadn’t given up looking for her yet. He had just become more cautious.
Fortunately, Jamie had been following their plan and focused on overseas.
It was also for this reason that they hid Bobby.
It was safe to stay with the nanny.
Ellen would have a video call with the nanny every Wednesday to see what was going on, and Bobby would also chat with Kenyon.
At other times, no matter how much she missed him, she would never video chat with Bobby.
They didn’t dare to bring Bobby to the village until it was completely safe. After half a year of investigation, the village was very safe and backward, which was very suitable for them to live in.
They had planned to pick up Bobby in spring. But he was in poor health, so it was not suitable for him to stay here in winter.
However, they had made a plan. They would let Bobby stay in here all the time except for winter.
With the nanny, they could rest assured. In a few years, Jamie would not keep a close eye on them. At that time, the four of them could live together.
She didn’t have to worry about money at all.
She had applied for domestic financing and investment in the name of Yvette, which was enough to cover medical expenses of Bobby.
Kenyon had also secretly bought a lot of property. Now they just needed to wait quietly in this small village for a suitable match.
It was a pity that she couldn’t attend Yvette’s wedding in person, but Yvette sent her a video chat.
It was not until she had stayed in the village for two months that she dared to contact Yvette. Since Lance and Jamie were friends, she believed in Yvette and naturally trusted Lance as well.
However, Jamie was very smart. He was afraid that Lance would accidentally expose his plan, so he asked Yvette not to tell anyone, including Lance.
At the wedding venue, Jamie was not present because of the scandal. The wedding ceremony was very grand, and the bride and groom were elegant.
Yvette had told her a lot of things. Ellen was touched by Lance’s sincerity and felt happy that her best friend had finally found her Mr. Right.
However, to be on the safe side, they agreed to reduce contact and report to each other every year that they were safe.
The fish thrashed in the basin, interrupting Ellen’s thought.
Seeing Kenyon washing jujube, she stood up and said, "Let me kill the fish."
"No," Kenyon said, "let me do it."
The jujube was fertilizer-free. He quickly washed the jujube and handed them over. He reminded her, "You can’t eat too much. It’s not good for your health."
Then, he took the fish to deal with it.
The sun shone on the side of Kenyon’s face. The wound on his face, which had been hit by Jaiden’s man, had left a scar because of the delay in treatment.
However, he was still handsome. He was a gentleman, and even the scars on his face were gentle.
Ellen took a bite of the jujube. They were crisp and juicy.
She thought that everything was a cycle of cause and effect. She was not Kenyon’s savior. She was just like a flower in his eyes.
He was her savior.
Otherwise, she would die long ago.
The time flies. On this day, Kenyon came back from treating the villagers and called Ellen out of the house.
Before going out, he wrapped her up tightly.
Then, he pulled her out and said, "Look."
It was white outside, and the tips of the trees were hung with snow crystals, causing them to be extremely beautiful.
Kenyon said, "This is the first snowfall since we came here. Do you want to make a wish?"
It was said that the wish would come true.
Smiling, Ellen nodded and closed her eyes to make a wish.
Since she came here, she was so much happier than before.
She would smile when she saw Blackie, she would smile when she saw the video every Wednesday, and she would smile when he saw Kenyon coming back with the harvest.
Everything made her feel the beauty of life.
This was a life that she had never dared to think about before.
She lowered her head and made a sincere wish. "I hope every day in the future will be ordinary but happy."
Kenyon tilted his head to look at her. Her eyelashes were stained with snowflakes, which made her look pretty.
Ellen opened her eyes and smiled at him. "Don’t you make a wish?"
Kenyon looked at her seriously and said, "My wish is to be with you."
They looked at each other silently.
Ellen’s face was red.
She said in a low voice, "Kenyon, let’s give Bobby a great family."
Kenyon was stunned for a long time.
It was a huge surprise.
In the past six months, he had kept Ellen’s words in mind and knew that she wouldn’t get over her emotional pain so quickly, so he had never mentioned it.
He had thought that if Ellen could never recover, it would be good for them to live like this for the rest of their lives.
He was willing to protect them for the rest of his life.
He was willing to do everything.
In short, he didn’t mind anything when he was with them.
But everyone had a wish.
"Ellen, am I dreaming?"
"Clap!"
Kenyon slapped himself so hard that his face turned red.
Ellen felt sorry for him. She touched his face. "Why did you hit yourself so hard..."
Kenyon held her hand tightly and said, "Ellen, can you say it again? I feel like I’m dreaming."
Ellen could feel the man’s hands trembling.
She had been thinking about it for a long time.
She once tried to ask Kenyon to start a new life, but she failed.
Bobby needed a great father, and she also needed a person who could help her.
If it was Kenyon, she could have more confidence.
Since she was not dead and still wanted to live a good life, she should take the next step.
After all, Kenyon had already done many things to her.
She was going to respond to him.
"Kenyon, I want to be with you. Are you willing..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he kissed her forehead.
There was no love. Just a light touch was enough to make them tremble.
Kenyon felt that he could do everything for her.
"Ellen, I love you."
He held her face and said in a trembling voice, "I will love you with my life..."
Ellen leaned her head on his chest. The young man’s heart was beating very fast, but she was at ease.
With Kenyon by her side, she didn’t have to worry or think about anything.
He was thoughtful, gentle, and meticulous. Sometimes, she even felt that he was older than her.
She didn’t know when she was moved by him.
Perhaps it was when he was unwilling to swear in her name, or the night they escaped together, or the night they came to this small village, at the bonfire party, his reassuring shoulders...
There were still so many days left. Dawn and dusk. Every time he came back, he would smile...
For so many days, it was worth being tempted by him every moment.
In short, she wanted to be brave.
She would be in a relationship with him, they would be a family.
That night, in order to celebrate, they decided to have a great meal.
Ellen’s face was pretty under the light.
Kenyon cooked a lot of her favorite dishes and put them in the bowl.
They were sitting at a table inside. Halfway through the meal, Ellen got up to go to the bathroom.
Suddenly, she hit someone, and a lighter fell out of the man’s pocket.
She quickly apologized and picked up the lighter. The words on it made her stunned.
