Secretary's Secret Lover
Chapter 408 Lance Feels Warm

Chapter 408: Chapter 408 Lance Feels Warm

Aaliyah had given Kenyon an out.

However, Kenyon only smiled gently and started the car to leave.

Other than Ellen, he did not even want to talk to other women.

It was just that his family threatened him to stay with Aaliyah until she reached home.

He agreed to send her home, and that was all.

Aaliyah looked at the speeding car. Her eyes were red, and she began to cry at the door.

Her parents ran out. When they saw Aaliyah crying, they were shocked and angry.

They immediately called Preston Corben, the head of the Corben family, and severely lashed out at Kenyon.

Preston was sensible and comforted them, saying that he would definitely give them an explanation.

By the time Kenyon returned to the Corben’s house, it was almost eleven o’clock.

As soon as he opened the door, he saw that the villa was brightly lit.

Preston sat on the armchair with a walking stick, his face dignified and solemn.

"You jerk, kneel!" he shouted loudly.

Kenyon seemed to have not heard him. He just stood there, his back straight.

Preston was so angry that he asked the housekeeper to punish Kenyon.

The housekeeper brought out a long and flat bamboo. It was obviously specially made.

Being hit by the bamboo would not leave any bruise on the skin, but it would be killingly painful.

Preston held the flat bamboo and hit Kenyon one after another until the latter fell to the ground.

Throughout the whole process, Kenyon did not make a sound.

Even though there was blood coming out of the corner of his mouth and his internal injuries were severe, Kenyon still gritted his teeth and endured the pain.

Preston said, "Kenyon, don’t blame me. I just want you to live a fair and square life. Do you want to be an illegitimate child for the rest of your life?"

Kenyon’s lips were full of blood. He said slowly and laboriously.

"I don’t need to be strong by ways of marriage. On the day I came back, I told you that I didn’t want to marry."

"You!" Preston pointed at him and was so angry that he couldn’t speak.

Kenyon’s face was pale, and his face was covered in a cold sweat. He struggled to stand up and stand straight again.

He was much taller than Preston, and his aura instantly became cold and threatening.

"Remember your words. As long as I can get that position, you will let me live the life I want."

Preston watched Kenyon limp out of the house and slammed his walking stick on the ground.

Kenyon never listened to him.

...

Yvette was still sleeping when she was woken up by a phone call from Susana.

After the call was connected, Susana said in a panicked and broken voice.

"Yve! Ellen just told me that she killed someone!"

"What!" Yvette suddenly sat up.

Susana cried so hard that she couldn’t catch her breath, and after a pause, she told Yvette what had happened.

She had something to ask Ellen at night and called her, but when Ellen picked up the phone, Ellen said in a trembling voice that...

She had killed someone!

Later, Susana couldn’t get through to Ellen.

Susana cried, "Yve, what should we do now?"

Yvette was also panicked and tried to comfort Susana. "Don’t cry. Think about what else she said on the phone."

Susana thought about it.

"I seem to have heard someone calling out ’Mr. McBride’. Then I didn’t hear anything else."

Mr. McBride?

Yvette thought about any Mr. McBride who knew Ellen.

It must be Jamie McBride.

"Don’t worry, I know who to look for. I’ll call you when I get to the bottom of it," Yvette comforted Susana.

Hanging up the phone, Yvette immediately called Lance.

Lance picked up in a second.

"Yvette, what’s wrong?"

When she heard Lance’s voice, her nose felt sour.

"Lance."

When Lance heard her broken voice, he asked anxiously, "What’s wrong? Don’t be anxious. Tell me slowly."

Yvette told her about Ellen and cried.

"Lance, can you help me find out if it is related to Jamie? If it is not, don’t disturb Jamie."

Because she was afraid that Jamie would find trouble with Ellen again.

Lance was silent for a moment and said, "Alright, I will tell you when I check it out."

"OK, I’ll wait for you."

Yvette’s confidence in him made Lance feel warm on this cold night.

Lance said in a good mood, "Yes, wait for me."

Yvette couldn’t fall asleep, waiting for Lance’s reply.

About half an hour later...

Lance called.

"It’s Jamie. Ms. Robbins hurt Jamie," he said.

Yvette was shocked.

"Is Ellen in danger?"

Lance said, "No, but Jamie is seriously injured and has not woken up yet."

Yvette’s heart skipped a beat.

"Where is Ellen now? Do you know where she is?"

"In Jamie’s villa, Jack kept her there."

Lance couldn’t bear to see her worry and said, "Don’t worry too much. Jamie has blocked the news. He probably won’t do anything to Ellen. Otherwise, she should be at the police station now."

Yvette was slightly relieved, but she was still uneasy.

"Can I go to see Ellen?"

"No, I don’t know where Jamie is now. I have to wait until he wakes up."

Jamie had offended many people in the process of taking back the McBride family.

In order to prevent people from seeking revenge, he had to block any negative news, and his whereabouts was a secret.

"Is there no other way?" Yvette asked with concern.

"Don’t worry, Jamie won’t hurt Ms. Robbins."

Lance knew Jamie. His love for Ellen was no less than Lance’s love for Yvette.

However, for some reason, Jamie’s methods were fierce.

Lance did not agree with this matter and advised Jamie.

However, those who had experienced the death of their parents would be extreme, and they were not easily persuaded.

Moreover, ever since Ellen left, Jamie had less contact with them.

And Lance and Jamie were slowly drifting apart.

Jamie lived in his own world and got separated from the world.

Although they didn’t contact each other much, Jamie still respected these old friends of his.

No matter how many times Lance told Yvette to be at ease, Yvette was still worried.

She asked, "Lance, if there is any news from Jamie, can you tell me?"

"I got it," Lance agreed.

Yvette looked at the time. It was almost one o’clock.

Thinking of Lance’s paleness at night, Yvette thought that he must be tired and didn’t want to bother him for so long.

She said, "It’s late. I won’t disturb your rest."

Lance suddenly asked, "Can you sleep?"

"What?"

Lance knew her very well and said, "Every time you have something to worry about, you can’t sleep."

Yvette was stunned.

Lance was right. How could she fall asleep when such a big thing happened?

Lance continued, "Open the curtains and take a look."

Yvette was sitting on a chair at the dressing table by the window. She could draw the curtains when she stood up.

She drew the curtains and said, "Lance, you wouldn’t..."

She could not finish the rest of the words.

At the entrance of the villa, Lance was leaning against the car and looking at the balcony.

Yvette exclaimed, "Did you come from the hospital?"

"Yes, I was afraid you were too worried." Lance’s magnetic voice came from the phone.

A warm feeling welled up in Yvette’s heart, and she did not know what to say.

Lance leaned against the car and looked at her on the balcony on the second floor, satisfied.

He smiled and said, "Go to sleep. I will stay here with you."

"Why are you staying with me? Hurry up and go back. You haven’t recovered yet."

"I can’t sleep either," Lance said.

"Why can’t you sleep?"

Lance said lightly, "You can’t sleep because you are worried about others, but I am worried about you, so I can’t sleep."

Yvette didn’t know what to say.

The air was very humid on a summer night.

Yvette couldn’t bear to see him so tired and asked him, "Would you like to come up?"
