Chapter 97: Chapter 97 I Will Always Be Here
Shen Weiyi’s lips pressed into a thin line, and he looked down and said, "If you’ve decided, then that’s fine." After speaking, he turned and walked away.
Qin Zhen blinked and looked at Shen Jingqi.
Was that an agreement, or was it not?
Shen Jingqi said, "Then let’s all live together, but the rooms are full. The three of you will have to make do with sleeping on the sofas in the living room."
"Okay, thanks!" Gu Xun voiced his thanks.
"What about our tents? Are we still setting them up?" Li Yue asked, looking at the half-assembled tents.
Jiang Zhiyi glanced in the direction where Shen Weiyi had left and pursed his lips, "Set it up, we can keep it for watching the sunrise tomorrow morning."
Qin Zhen caught up with Shen Weiyi, "Do you really have the heart to let them sleep in tents?"
"No!" Shen Weiyi’s expression had already returned to calm. He actually knew that they had done nothing wrong. They couldn’t really let a girl sleep outside alone, but he still felt uncomfortable and unhappy!
"What were you guys just talking about?" Shen Weiyi looked at Qin Zhen, hesitating.
Qin Zhen smiled and said, "I know you’re tough on the outside but soft on the inside; I’ve already agreed to let them stay. But what’s the deal with his sister?"
Shen Weiyi replied, "That’s the daughter his stepmother brought with her. His biological mom passed away from illness a few years ago."
Around the sixth grade, Jiang Zhiyi’s mother had fallen seriously ill and died not long after. The day his mom died, a heavy rain fell, and he ran out of the hospital alone. When Shen Weiyi found him, he was curled up alone at the place where they first met, crying like a wounded little beast.
Shen Weiyi would always remember the look in his eyes when he looked up at her—full of helplessness and despair—as he said, "Yao Yao, I don’t have a mom anymore!" His hoarse, choked voice was heartbreaking.
She stepped forward to embrace him and gently patted his back, saying, "It’s okay, you still have me!"
Later, it was Shen Weiyi who held his hand and brought him back home.
From then on, he became especially clingy to her, and the two were almost inseparable.
Xu Wanyu married into the Jiang Family with Xu Chenxi three years ago.
The day his father remarried, he went alone to his mom’s gravesite and stood there for a long time; Shen Weiyi was also the one who found him.
The wind on the hill was strong that day. Dressed in white shirt and black pants, the youth appeared lonely, like he was abandoned between the dreary sky and earth, which deeply saddened Shen Weiyi.
She took the initiative to embrace him and said, "Jiang Zhiyi, don’t be sad, I will always be here."
"I’ll never allow you to leave me!" That day, the young man’s embrace was unusually tight, as if trying to embed her into his bones.
The wind was cold that day, but the hug was exceptionally warm.
Perhaps because she felt sorry for him, and maybe because neither had a mom, she had been especially indulgent towards him over the years.
This caused him to become increasingly obsessed and sensitive, always trying to prove her care but forgetting that she, too, could feel hurt.
She had promised never to leave him and had vowed to always be by his side, but ultimately, she went back on her word.
She had overestimated herself and underestimated time. A lifetime was too long; her patience had limits, her tolerance had limits, and her will and passion also had limits.
Now, she had reached her limit!
Looking at her clearly despondent eyes, Qin Zhen comforted her, "Don’t think too much; we came out to have fun. I don’t think his sister can cause much trouble. If you feel unhappy, just let it out. Look at me..." He then cupped his hands around his mouth like a megaphone, leaned towards the sea, and shouted loudly, "Hey, ’Z University,’ wait for me, I’m coming for you soon."
