Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Why Don’t You Sacrifice Your Looks
"Ugh, I’m so bored! I want to play games; I want my freedom." In the Sheng Family’s study, Shen Jingqi sprawled across the desk like a dead fish, groaning loudly.
"Shut up! You’re too noisy." Shen Weiyi looked up from her book and interrupted him.
"What? You actually find me noisy." Shen Jingqi hopped up from his chair in a huff, about to explode, when suddenly an idea flashed through his mind. He then looked at her ingratiatingly, a negotiating tone in his voice: "Sis, how about you sacrifice your good looks to persuade Brother Ting to let us both have a break?"
"No way!" Shen Weiyi refused.
"Come on! Aren’t you bored? We’ve been listening to him for almost an hour. I don’t care; I need a break." If she wasn’t tired, he certainly was!
"If you want a break, go tell him yourself."
Shen Weiyi wasn’t bored at all. Since she was already there, she naturally wanted to make the most of all the time she had. Plus, he was a good teacher, no worse than any school teacher.
Sheng Ting came back from taking a phone call and saw Shen Jingqi looking half-dead but Shen Weiyi maintaining a proper sitting posture. He paused, then said, "Do you want to take a break?"
"Yes!" The very next second, Shen Jingqi bolted out of the room.
Seeing Shen Weiyi still in her seat, Sheng Ting said to her, "Do you want to get up and walk around too? My mom prepared some fruit and snacks in the living room. You can have some and then continue."
Shen Weiyi looked up: "No need, I’m not tired! Oh, is it possible that this problem can be solved in another way?"
"Let me see..." Sheng Ting walked over, stood behind her, slightly bending over her, engulfing her in his shadow, "Indeed, it can be solved like this..." As he spoke, he picked up a pen and started working it out on the paper beside her.
With only two people left in the room, one speaking and the other listening, the absence of a certain someone’s noisy voice made the atmosphere unusually harmonious.
Shen Jingqi, returning with a plate of fruit, was taken aback at the sight. He stuffed the half-eaten fruit in his mouth, then stealthily took out his phone and snapped a photo.
Looking at the sneaky snapshot on his phone, he curved his lips in satisfaction, then knocked on the door and walked in nonchalantly, extending the plate of fruit towards Shen Weiyi: "Here, I got this for you. Eat up!"
"Thanks!" Shen Weiyi glanced up briefly, showing no interest in eating but addressing Sheng Ting instead, "Let’s continue."
Shen Jingqi: ...
Tsk, can’t understand why they’re so enthusiastic about tutoring!
Fine, if she doesn’t eat, I will. He retracted his hand, settled onto a nearby couch with the fruit plate, and began eating.
In the room, apart from the sound of discussing problems, there was now the noise of someone eating.
"Crunch munch—smack chew—"
Shen Weiyi couldn’t help but lift her head and look at him, "Can you go outside to eat?"
"Me?" Shen Jingqi pointed at himself.
Is he being shunned?
"Alright then!" He stood up with his plate and went alone to the living room.
Thinking that the two of them probably wouldn’t finish anytime soon, he took out his phone and launched a game. After finishing one round and seeing that they were still not out, he casually started a second, then a third round...
After facing several weak teammates—definitely because of the weekend, with kids coming online—Shen Jingqi lost interest and decided to curl up on the couch for a nap.
Waking up more than an hour later, he saw Sheng Ting escorting Shen Weiyi out.
Is it finally over?
Yawning, Shen Jingqi got up and said, "Can we go back now?"
