Chapter 22: Chapter 22 A Qualified Ex Should Act as if They’re Dead
Qin Zhen’s gaze swept over Jiang Zhiyi’s face and then fell on Shen Weiyi at his side, suspiciously asking, "Do you know each other?" She naturally recognized the neighborhood class tyrant and prominent figure of the school.
But what was the meaning behind the other party suddenly blocking their way, oh no, blocking the way of the new deskmate?
"We know each other!"
"We don’t know each other!"
Two voices rose almost simultaneously.
Qin Zhen looked at one, then the other, not knowing who to believe.
She then saw the big shot opposite her smile at her and say, "I’m sorry, may I borrow her for a moment? Don’t worry, we really do know each other, she’s my girlfriend."
Shen Weiyi shot him a glare and retorted, "Jiang Zhiyi, stop talking nonsense, we’ve already broken up."
"Yao Yao, I was wrong, can we not fight anymore, please?" Jiang Zhiyi bowed with a submissive look, completely ignoring Qin Zhen’s surprised and shocked expressions, and very obediently apologized.
Qin Zhen had an expression as if witnessing juicy gossip.
Tch, had she not seen it with her own eyes, she would never have associated the person now groveling and acting like a little puppy with the arrogantly untouchable big shot of the school.
"Cough cough..."
Qin Zhen coughed lightly, then let go of Shen Weiyi’s hand and said, "Well, how about I leave first, and you two can chat?"
"No need, I have nothing to say to him."
Shen Weiyi intended to walk away with the other person but was caught by the wrist by Jiang Zhiyi.
At the staircase entrance, passersby curious about the drama, cast their gazes on the two.
Shen Weiyi felt a headache coming on and didn’t want to become the subject of gossip on her first day of transferring schools; she held in her temper and said to Jiang Zhiyi, "Let go of me first."
Shen Weiyi was unwilling to tussle with him in front of everyone, but the person in question not only didn’t let go but gripped her even tighter.
"I’ll go to the cafeteria first and save you a spot." Although Qin Zhen really wanted to stay and watch the drama unfold, she sensed that the atmosphere between the two was off and, winking at Shen Weiyi, left first.
Jiang Zhiyi lowered his eyes, fixating his unwavering gaze on Shen Weiyi’s face.
Shen Weiyi, not wanting to be a spectacle, said to Jiang Zhiyi, "Let’s talk in your classroom."
Jiang Zhiyi then dragged her by the wrist to the classroom.
The classroom was almost empty, and Jiang Zhiyi closed the door behind them, pinning her against it and said, "You transferred to Jiu Middle School and didn’t even tell me? I know, you must want to surprise me, right? I knew you couldn’t bear to leave me."
She knew he would think that.
"You’ve got it wrong," Shen Weiyi silently sighed in her heart and said, "The transfer was arranged with my dad beforehand, and I admit it had to do with you but that was before. We’ve broken up now, and if the transfer wasn’t already settled, I definitely would not have moved. Even if I said let’s be friends in the future, you probably wouldn’t agree, so let’s just be strangers. From now on, in school, don’t talk to me, and it’s best if you act like you don’t know me, after all, a proper ex should be like they’re dead, right?"
Jiang Zhiyi’s expression darkened.
Damn ’like they’re dead.’
He was still alive, alive and well.
In the past, Jiang Zhiyi would inevitably have made a scene, but now... he didn’t dare.
"Still angry? I’ve already apologized." The young man pursed his lips, his face showing hurt, his puppy-dog eyes looking both pitiful and innocent, a stark contrast to his usual cool and defiant demeanor in front of his friends.
Unfortunately for him, Shen Weiyi was used to his antics, her heart as firm as a rock, unmoved.
