Shen Weiyi had always attended a private elite school, but Jiu Middle School, where she was about to enroll, was a provincial key school known for its high college entrance examination pass rate, a factor that had many parents scrambling to get their children admitted.
Director’s Office.
Secretary Jiang, accompanied by Shen Weiyi, knocked and entered the door.
They saw a portly middle-aged man with a rounded belly seated inside.
"Director Li, hello, this is Weiyi, Mr. Shen’s daughter. I’ve brought her to register, and we’ll be counting on the director to take special care of her from now on," Secretary Jiang said with a signature polite smile.
Director Li quickly stood up and shook Secretary Jiang’s hand warmly, "No need to mention it, just rest assured. Jiu Middle School is a city key school, and there certainly won’t be any problems with Shen studying here. Please convey my thanks on behalf of the school and our students to Mr. Shen for his generosity."
Secretary Jiang: "You’re being too kind, Director Li. There are so many people who want to sponsor the school, we’re just thankful you’re giving Mr. Shen this opportunity."
"Ha-ha-ha, Secretary Jiang sure has a way with words," Director Li laughed heartily, then his gaze fell on Shen Weiyi, "This must be Shen. I have reviewed your previous records, and your academic performance is quite good. If you encounter any problems at school, just come to me."
"Thank you, Director," Shen Weiyi nodded slightly.
Just then, a figure passed by the door, and Director Li called out to them, "Teacher Zhao, you’re heading to the classroom, right? This is the new transfer student for your class, take her with you on your way!"
"Understood, Director."
Director Li turned back with a smiling face to Shen Weiyi, "This is Teacher Zhao, your class English teacher. Teacher Zhao is one of our school’s core instructors. Study hard under Teacher Zhao’s guidance, off you go!"
"Hello, Teacher Zhao!" Shen Weiyi approached and greeted.
The latter looked at her indifferently and said coldly, "Come with me."
The school bell had been ringing for several minutes, but Classroom Fifteen was still a noisy affair.
Walking to the door, Zhao Liqiu’s face flashed with disgust.
She was the English teacher for Class Fifteen, temporarily assigned to substitute for the original foreign language teacher who took maternity leave due to pregnancy.
Jiu Middle School was a provincial key school with the highest college acceptance rates in the province.
Most of the students admitted were top students from the city.
But Class 15 was an exception.
Aside from those who earned their place through merit, there were others who got in through connections and money.
Zhao Liqiu herself was the product of a humble background, having risen from the countryside, tested into a prestigious university, and, through sheer effort, secured a teaching position at Jiu Middle School. With a proud nature, she disdained this so-called second generation of rich and powerful students who squandered educational resources without serious study.
If it wasn’t for the principal’s pressure and the promise of promoting her to the head of the English teaching and research group, she wouldn’t have wanted to take this class.
Zhao Liqiu approached the classroom and banged on the desks with a sour expression, "Quiet down, what sort of behavior is this for a class? I know that most of your families have already arranged your futures, and that not taking the college entrance exam won’t affect your lives, but please don’t disrupt the other students who do want to learn. Not everyone is as fortunate as you. Also, we have a new student in our class, let’s all get acquainted."
Then she looked toward the doorway at Shen Weiyi: "Come in, introduce yourself briefly, and let’s not take up too much time."
