“Come in,” Liu Sisi said as she handed Xiao Han a pair of slippers.

Xiao Han stepped inside and was met with a refreshing scent. It was very comfortable.

“What’s that smell?” Xiao Han curiously asked.

“It’s the smell of Vanilla,” Liu Sisi explained with a smile. “My dad picked the Vanilla from the mountains himself, dried it, ground it into powder, and then burned it in an incense burner to create this fragrance.”

“It’s very comfortable,” Xiao Han couldn’t help but greedily inhale it a couple of times.

“Then… do you want some?” Liu Sisi asked. “I can give you some.”

“No need,” Xiao Han shook his head.

“Why not?” Liu Sisi asked, puzzled.

“If you give me Vanilla, wouldn’t you also have to give me an incense burner?” Xiao Han laughed and said, “After I finish it, I’d have to come back to you for more.”

“That’s okay too,” Liu Sisi shook her head.

Xiao Han entered Liu Sisi’s home and looked around curiously.

The decor was antique and purely Chinese in style. Upon entering, a huge screen greeted him, which surprisingly featured calligraphy from several masters, looking very imposing. The last screen even featured calligraphy by Mao Zedong, a piece titled “Snow in Qingyuan Garden”, wild and ambitious in its strokes.

Passing through the screen, the living room was full of sets of mahogany furniture. Even the sofa was made of solid mahogany, beautifully carved, and refreshing to the eye. Xiao Han had never seen such pure Chinese styling before; seeing it now, he couldn’t help but fall in love with it.

“Xiao Han, you take a seat first,” Liu Sisi said. “I’ll go make some tea for you.”

“You don’t have to be so formal,” Xiao Han hurriedly said.

However, Liu Sisi had already scurried off to prepare the tea. The central air conditioning in the living room was on, gradually filling the house with cool air, very comfortable. From the decoration and luxury of the home, it was clear that the Liu Family was not short on money. Originally, he had thought Liu Sisi’s family was of average wealth. Liu Sisi quickly set up the tea set.

“Then it must taste pretty good,” Xiao Han was indeed looking forward to it.

Although not much of a tea connoisseur, he knew a sip would tell him all he needed to know about the quality of the tea.

Liu Sisi began to make the tea with focus.

“Here, drink up,” Liu Sisi said after she had steeped the tea and poured Xiao Han a cup.

Holding the cup of tea, Xiao Han first smelled it, the aroma was rich and refreshing. It felt like all the cells in his body were opening their mouths to breathe in this comfortable scent. Xiao Han couldn’t resist praising, “Nice, the aroma is strong.”

“Take a sip,” Liu Sisi urged, her eyes filled with anticipation.

Xiao Han gently blew on it and then took a sip. The sweetness of the tea immediately reverberated in his mouth. With his eyes closed, he took a deep breath and then said, “Good, good, it’s really good.”

“Tasty, right?” Liu Sisi poured him another cup.

“Yes,” Xiao Han nodded. “This flavor is truly excellent, many times better than ordinary tea leaves. But with such a great flavor, hasn’t your dad considered selling it? He could definitely make a good amount of money.”

“My dad simply doesn’t care about that,” Liu Sisi shook her head. “The tea he processes and makes himself is not something he feels just anybody should drink.”

“Okay then!” Xiao Han nodded, realizing that this family truly wasn’t lacking in money. Although he didn’t understand what Liu Sisi’s father did, at least he could tell that his status and background were certainly no small matter.

Liu Sisi laughed and said, “Xiao Han, where are you going tonight?”

“Back to the dorm.” Xiao Han replied.

“Do you… do you want to… sleep over at my place?” Liu Sisi’s face turned bright red.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Han awkwardly said, “Isn’t that… not so good?”

“What’s not good about it?” Liu Sisi pursed her lips and said, “My dad isn’t home, what are you afraid of?”

“I… I’m not afraid of your dad.” Xiao Han shook his head and said, “The two of us… a man and a woman alone in a house, I… I’m worried it might damage your reputation. What if word gets out? How will you ever get married?”

“Then you marry me!” Liu Sisi giggled.

From her tone, it was nine out of ten times to irritate Xiao Han.

Of course, Xiao Han definitely believed that there were many people pursuing Liu Sisi, including second-generation officials and the wealthy. “I’ll get you my dad’s pajamas to wear.” After saying that, Liu Sisi turned and went into the room, then brought clothes back for Xiao Han.

Xiao Han, dressed in the clothes, had a beaming smile, radiating the joy of spring.

“Watch TV for a while, I’m going to take a shower,” Liu Sisi said, glancing at Xiao Han with a hint of allure.

Having said that, she immediately went into the bathroom.

Xiao Han sat alone in the living room watching TV, feeling rather bored, so he decided to take a look around Liu Sisi’s home. Such a luxurious place, and he had only seen the tip of the iceberg; he wondered what the other rooms were like.

He pushed open the master bedroom door. The furniture in the master bedroom was also very luxurious, with an entire bed made of rosewood. There was an old-fashioned sewing machine in the corner, and a wedding photo from the 1980s hung on the wall above the head of the bed. The man in the photo was probably Liu Sisi’s father, and the woman was her mother.

Liu Sisi looked incredibly similar to the woman in the photo. Their eyes, facial features, and even contours were about ninety percent the same.

Coming out of the room, Xiao Han pushed open the second room, which was Liu Sisi’s bedroom, the only one filled with a modern vibe. There was a computer desk in the room, the bed was a pristine white princess bed, quite beautiful, and the floor was carpeted. The room felt cozy and adorable. There was even a huge teddy bear on the bedside. It seemed that a common trait among girls was their love for fluffy toys.

When he pushed open the third room, he found a very simple guest room, with no expensive furniture inside, just a plain wooden bed. The room had a balcony with a view.

This must be the guest room, he thought.

But when Xiao Han pushed open the fourth room, he was taken aback. It was a massive study with three walls of bookshelves filled with dense stacks of books, some even old collectible editions.

Moved by curiosity, he walked in. The shelves were certainly not made from ordinary materials, and the desk was made from golden nanmu wood. Turning on the light, he could almost see the golden threads on the desk’s surface, radiating bursts of light.

Xiao Han had no interest in these expensive woods but curiously stared at the books on those three walls. There were rubbing editions of the “Compendium of Materia Medica”, the “Inner Canon of Huangdi”… countless others.

Unable to resist his curiosity, Xiao Han started to flip through them. The content was rich, and Xiao Han memorized it all in his mind. After finishing, he carefully placed the books back exactly as they were.

Xiao Han was so engrossed in the books that he lost track of time.

A startled cry came from the doorway.

“Xiao Han!” Liu Sisi called out urgently.
