Chapter 979: Chapter 0979: Observation
Stepping outside, Luo Yang walked a few steps with Hong Jiaxin.
Luo Yang said, "Jiaxin, let’s take a stroll around."
As expected, Hong Jiaxin wasn’t interested.
The resort was actually quite fun, but Hong Jiaxin couldn’t stop thinking about her parents, leaving her no mood to enjoy herself.
Thus, despite the abundance of entertainment facilities around, none of them could attract her.
As she turned to head back into the hotel, Luo Yang stopped her.
"Jiaxin, I need to take care of something. Come with me," Luo Yang said.
"What is it?" Hong Jiaxin asked.
Heading to the Willow Forest—just to check out the surroundings.
Tomorrow night might indeed require a meeting with the people from Skull Fortress there.
Although, if it really came to that, Luo Yang would involve Hua XiYi and Master Hua.
"Let’s walk around and familiarize ourselves. If we need to escape, it’ll be easier," Luo Yang said.
"You can go alone. I need sleep," Hong Jiaxin replied.
Luo Yang was mainly worried about Gu Xue targeting Hong Jiaxin.
Keeping Hong Jiaxin close was better than leaving her alone in the room.
"Jiaxin, if you’re tired, walking a bit will perk you up. Or, I can carry you." Luo Yang said with a playful smile.
Hong Jiaxin snorted with laughter.
"No way am I letting you carry me!" She let out a tiny yawn.
"Jiaxin, don’t be shy. Back at school, didn’t you carry me? Now it’s my turn to carry you," Luo Yang said, already crouching down.
That time at school, the two had made a bet, and Hong Jiaxin had lost.
To keep her promise, she naturally carried him.
"I don’t need you to carry me! I’m not going!" Hong Jiaxin said, trying to push Luo Yang away.
The two bantered as they walked forward.
There was a fleeting moment when Luo Yang wanted to share some of his speculations with Hong Jiaxin.
It was about the mystery surrounding her identity.
But, considering his thoughts were still just guesses and lacked evidence, saying anything would only add to Hong Jiaxin’s worries.
The words reached his lips but were swallowed back down.
Thinking carefully, based purely on facial features, Hong Jiaxin really didn’t resemble the Hong Zhong Couple much.
But that alone couldn’t definitively prove that Hong Jiaxin wasn’t Hong Zhong’s daughter.
Children not resembling their parents was a common occurrence.
That said, Luo Yang felt that some of his deductions might actually be correct.
He simply hadn’t gathered enough evidence to support them yet. Under these circumstances, sharing his conjectures with her would only confuse Hong Jiaxin more.
Being so close to her, it seemed natural to tell her about any new discoveries.
But considering her current mental state wasn’t great, saying anything might make her even more agitated.
Perhaps she already had some thoughts of her own.
Luo Yang hadn’t had a deep conversation with her about it, so he wasn’t sure what she truly thought.
In terms of intelligence, her mind was sharp.
In other words, if Luo Yang could deduce it, she probably could too.
The difference was that, as someone directly involved, she might be unwilling to pursue certain lines of thought.
If Luo Yang voiced it, it might give her a direction to think about.
The problem was that Luo Yang’s thoughts were almost entirely speculative.
Without concrete evidence, treating his guesswork as truth might be harmful, leading Hong Jiaxin to overthink even more.
While caught in thought, he noticed the path ahead had become more complicated, with crossroads and smaller trails intersecting.
This seemed to be a central hub within the Blood Devil Sect amusement area.
Passing by a barbecue stall, Luo Yang asked, "Jiaxin, want something to eat?"
Hong Jiaxin replied, "No."
But Luo Yang, ever enthusiastic, stopped anyway and said, "Jiaxin, have a bite."
He was merely using the opportunity to observe the surroundings more carefully.
Afterward, they kept walking.
"Jiaxin, let’s head over there," Luo Yang said.
By then, they were already close to the Frozen Lake’s edge, near the Willow Forest.
