Chapter 174: An Enemy of your Enemy
Chapter 174: An Enemy of your Enemy
Sometimes you’ll realize how come an npc has a different view from one player to another. Is it status, wealth, social standing, or maybe race? They mostly act in terms of the player’s choice, what your move to further develop a relationship. Your attitude, words, and even the way you act in front of them will develop their separate views. A different attitude they display only to you, but if we’re talking about a quick summary. They’re most likely comparable to a visual novel character so yeah choose wisely on your route
"What a coincidence that you’re here at this time of the night. Good evening I should properly introduce myself, my name is Zen Bleightrol. It’s nice to see such a high-ranking soldier visiting me at this hour, isn’t that right Ms. Yuri?" He gave her a bow once she fully opens the door and find him standing in her front. He greeted her whilst he crouched and saluted her to show his utmost respects
([Rewrite system: The author is currently facing a powerful npc that has an immense amount of bloodlust
Status: Your body is unaffected by the mental effect of the bloodlust. The pressuring aura is being endured by one of the author’s skills [Mental Fortitude]
Function: The function called [Persuasion] is currently in play. A sense of hesitation is detected in the npcs body. If you manage to play your words correctly, you might be able to survive])
’As much as I don’t have any knowledge concerning this side of the trials. I was able to acquire most of my knowledge from the village elder. One of the most important names was Yuri Frigres. Why was she important even though she wasn’t even the main character of this story? Whilst the resistance leader hasn’t shown his face, he was said to be well-versed. Fighting, tactics, and strategy, a perfect leader figure with no such faults. Why the fuck was this extra important?’
"It seems that I was going a little bit rusty after my injuries. To think that I’ve made you wander in our camp for so long demon fiend! As much as I desire to eradicate you here and now. I want some of my answers to be solved if you abide by my rules, I might spare you a painful death," She closes the door and emits an illuminating aura that was the opposite of his eye. At the same time, his eye seemed to have reacted and even leaked to his surroundings. She revealed his demonic feature whilst pointing her blade
[System: The npc Yuri Frigres has revealed her divine weapon [Krisheldeour] the blade of light. The divine weapon has detected a remnant of a demon that dwells within the player. The power of the npc is too much for the player’s body even though the npc is nerfed. If you desire to live, then we advise you to answer the npc’s questions, who knows you might survive. But thats not going to happen isn’t it? You’ve come across the worse scenario due to your demonic eye]
’The reason why this extra was said to be more important than the main character of this story. Was the reason for being chosen by the divine weapon of her time, the blade that slashes evil and alike. The ace of the resistance, no matter how skilled their leader was. He couldn’t have met the requirement of the divine weapon, because of their goals in life. Whether the two of them didn’t possess any similarities, they set aside their difference to vanquish the royals,’
"If thats what you wished for I wouldn’t have any problems with your request. However you might want to consider my side as well,"
"Why should I do that...? You’re a demon fiend, a wretched soul thats been corrupted by the demons. You might’ve sold your soul to gain your power and stand in your current position. Why should I waste my time hearing the words of a greedy scumbag?" She didn’t even hide her emotions, she detested him for having his demonic eye. When it was about to look like he doesn’t have any sort of escape until a beeping noise started to arise
It came from the outside world and its noise became louder by the second. She tried opening the door with no luck of even twisting even for a little inc to move. And then she shifted her gaze to see a switch that was being held by her target
"You may have caught me off guard, but what would a single person do if I planted a dozen of bombs? Let’s you cut my arm before I push this button on my hands. I might have a few other ways to trigger the bombs, who knows it might all be a bluff. But you’re betting the hundred or even thousands of lives if you were to choose incorrectly. You said you wanted to discuss something am I correct? I’m simply making it fair that I can say my own experience. In doing so to not be one-side, you can’t have a proper conversation if you won’t try to listen," Morris offers her a seat after she tries to destroy the door with her sword. Only for it to be repelled before it could even touch its surface
No matter how much he was in a pinch, he seems to have a plan. Seeing as he could anticipate her next move, he was able to deny her of accomplishing her plans. For such a divine weapon to be easily repelled, she immediately lowered her sword. As much as she detested his presence, she didn’t want to risk the lives of the innocent people
’Master is this the moment that you have spoken about? Where I’ll appear as a means to gain an upper hand in this trial?’
Morris gave him a nod and he quickly appeared standing in the middle of the table. Where the conversation between the npc and himself has taken place, even though he wasn’t a real demon. His body was forged by the materials that came from the depths of hell and things relating to his aura. Whether it was by appearance or not, he was detected as a demon
[System: The sacred treasure [Diablos] the demon of machinery has descended to the mortal realm]
"Greetings from the world above, I am the demon called Diablos. I assumed that you have met with my contracts...? There seems to have been a misunderstanding on your side. To be perfectly honest, I don’t seek the lives of those people, nor am I related to the demon that the royals have summoned. I’m but a humble demon that came to the world above my own to seek a worthy host," His aura was too similar to a demon that her weapon told her of his power. The presence and the power he emitted were simply too distant from the aura of her enemy
"It seems that you finally understand, I never thought of harming the innocent. You can simply ask my demon if thats his goal, but seeing your expression. I don’t think will have any questions about whether or not im a spy sent by the royal guards," He quickly turns off the noise that he emitted earlier
"Even if you’re not a part of all this, why did you approach the resistance? Seeing as your knowledge has bested me. The way you used the lives of my soldier to threaten me and the door that repelled my swing. What are you after...? I’m a mortal that’s been allowed to wield this divine weapon," After she realizes that he wasn’t a part of the countless spies roaming around the resistance. Her temper has lowered to a point where she can have a proper conversation
Even with the misunderstood to have been resolved, she couldn’t find it in her heart to spare his life. Spy or not, he had contracted a demon, the very evil that her weapon ordered her to slay. Their plans have finally come to their turning point after Diablos gave the final push
"Fret not for I am a primordial demon, im, not a lesser demon thats aims to make a name for himself. I don’t have any intentions of joining the ranks of the youngins, I’m only given a task to enter the surface. Since I’ve found a worthy vessel alongside my travels I formed a contract. I don’t know if it was a coincidence, but I was sent to a place where my task has resided,"
"What do you mean by that?" Yuri was overly curious about his reasons
"Simple, my task was to capture the lesser demons thats endangering the heavenly will. Demons may have halted their ascension to the world above. But we’re a race that holds contracts with great importance. Having a contract that we have signed is a sign equivalent to losing our pride. Hence I was ordered to capture the runaway demons from hell and capture them," After he was able to persuade her, Diablos left. Leaving the two of them to continue with their chat
"Ahem... I’ve heard some information similar to what your contracted demon has uttered. It seems that I’ve mistaken you for a lesser demon. If you didn’t stop me it would’ve been a major crisis on my side, if I continued with my actions... It would’ve violated the contract, which would’ve resulted in an earlier start of the holy war. I asked that you’ll overlook this matter! I don’t want to be the cause if the end of the world were to arrive due to my poor choices,"
She was convinced by their lies after she witnessed such an aura from diablo and the effect of his persuasion. Along with the information that was relevant to her world, he overcomes a life-threatening situation. It took him a lot to prepare for such a thing to occur, but in the end, he was able to escape
"Of course, I’ll overlook this matter... But remember there wouldn’t be another time!! I’m not here to start a war. I’m only doing this because it’s a part of my contract with my demon. Sign this and I’ll forget about that stupid act of yours to provoke the primordial demon. You know what they say, an enemy of your enemy is your most trusted ally. But we can’t trust each other’s words, thats why I propose a life and death contract,"
With a stroke of luck, information, and lastly his wits and scheming personality. He was able to escape from an unavoidable death and he ends it by forming a contract. A contract that grants him information, connections, and even the cooperation of the second in command. All of that he acquired by showing his hands that gave him the winning route filled with privileges
[System: You’ve now gained a high-ranking title from the resistance whilst retaining your mercenary role. The privileges and standing within the resistance are now in your possession. You’ve achieved such an incredible feat. The system has rewarded you with a title and 10 unused stat points]
’I might not be the mc, but im sure as hell good at milking the system in its achievements. If this keeps on going, I might even have the stat line that can go toe to toe with Hugo. For now, let’s focus on my life, I’ll meet him once I’ve entered the third trial,’
