Chapter 165: The Dangers Of The Corridor
Chapter 165: The Dangers Of The Corridor
I can’t believe how much of a pain my readers are, there were a few good ones that banded together to survive. However, some of them stick their finger up my ass, and instead of focusing more on the trials I also have to deal with those idiots. Sigh, I can’t believe it, whenever I go it seems like they’re scheming at everything. Now they’re targeting the beta testers to gather a ton of information that they have no such possession
[System: You’ve arrived at the 21st floor, the system has detected that your team was the one that defeated the 2nd mini-boss. Your party will be given a temporary buff on exp drops for the next 3 hours any exp you’ve obtained will be tripled. We hope that our hospitality and great service to you have been imprinted on your hearts. Since you’ll die at any given moment, we’re very thankful to be remembered]
’Oh please. Even with all of that buff, we’re only getting a few experience points, I remember the time I’ve spent. To balance everything from level zero, every time another ten levels have been placed in the player. The system will lower the buff they’ve received when they were weak, it’s in the tip of my tongue. Now I remember I placed it as one of the absolute laws of the system, aiding the weak and restricting the strong,’
"Great, we’ve been transported in the middle of nowhere. Did you get any kind of clues when you killed Sindreth? I’ve heard that they drop a clue that’ll make things easier for the story quest to start," Once their bodies have been fully transported to the 21st floor. They found themselves in the middle of the castle grounds. Which was completely different from the other area which was at the entrance of the gate
"This is the only thing I’ve got," Morris opened his inventory and revealed a letter that he obtained by defeating the mini-boss
[Letter Of An Unknown Warrior: At last my comrades and I have vanquished not one but two of the frost guards. I’ve thought about how odd it was that even though the castle layout wasn’t confusing. We haven’t heard from a single one of our allies that were dispatched to the castle. That’s when I realized when I’ve seen it for myself, my brothers have been teleported to a faraway place. The only thing I have to make use of tracking them was the sound of the wind, sometimes it was normal and other times it was not. To whoever is reading this make sure you listen carefully to the sound that you’ll only hear when there’s a powerful wind]
"Listen to the wind? That’s the greatest clue they have to offer, it sounds way too complicated. But as much as I don’t want the five of us to get lost, we all know that staying in a single spot will be our undoing. We can’t risk the chance of a monster spawning in front of our location, for now, let’s go to the southern path,"
Sam and the others agreed with her choice for their party to move on from their current location. No matter how a player may look at it, their area was oddly a mysterious sight to behold. There wasn’t a sign of any monsters however they could feel something was wrong, why would the trials become so easy? That’s when they heard, what the letter have spoken about the sound of the wind, it was just a normal breeze. Until the others could feel a sudden chill that was building up in their spines
"This is...?" Erick and Morris were able to perfectly discern the origin of the sound that hide within the gust of the wind. Without even doubting their guess, they called out on their team to move
"Everyone duck!!!" They did what Morris told them to do and by the time the sound got any louder. They saw the upper half of the corridor of the castle being sliced into the middle area, which left a mark to be identified. Before they could slowly get up on their feet, they were dragged by the two into the corner. Whilst another round of the concentrated sound activated once more, this time it cut the middle area in half. The only difference was that it became vertical instead of a horizontal attack
"What the hell was that!!?" Colt was confused with what they’d witnessed with their very own eyes. Rather they didn’t even get to see the attack, however, the two beg to differ when they were able to perceive an attack
"It’s not an attack that came from a spell that requires mana or a technique that requires the use of one’s chi. It’s the sound of a fully concentrated wind, I heard it when I fought a mage that uses the wind element. It’s easily perceivable since you can feel the mana that draws the wind. However this isn’t even the work of mana or even chi, it’s a mechanism that gathers wind. And shoots itself once it reaches the required volume of power,"
While Erick was busy explaining the function of the attack to their teammates. Morris on the other hand was concentrating on his chi which followed the sound. Revealing that it travels through their chosen path and the other ways as well. After he collected the information that was provided by his copies that he ordered to patrol the other passage
"Should we turn back?" Sam was questioning her choices and asked the others for their opinion.
"Let’s continue with our current route," No one voiced out their opinion. Except for Morris that told them about the results of his investigation
"Don’t tell me you learn about that because of your eye?" Jenna was a little concerned about his well-being after she questioned his findings
"No, I didn’t, the power of my eye has some limited use even if it could help. I don’t think you guys would agree when there’s a chance I might get another curse. I was able to learn that the attack travels farther away from our location, and its force didn’t even get any lower. The only thing that we could do is to continue with our tracks, just follow with Erick and my movement. Since we notice that were the only ones that were able to detect the presence of the attack,"
The five of them lined up with the two of them taking the lead, and run as fast as possible before another round was fired. They’ve continued this over and over again with every step they took the noise started becoming more visible. What was just a hint of irritation within the gust of wind has turned into a concentrated whistling sound. That shoots out another round of a powerful set of attacks and they continued doing everything in their power to survive
’I’ve heard from the village chief about this powerful item that’s the origin of all of this complicated structure. The story is pretty simple the players and a few npcs are re-enacting the whole coup de etat. The royal families are absolute dicks, fucking assholes that’s worse than the breaking government. And the only reason why they’re still alive even with all of this war was due to the existence of the frost guards. Who’s a bunch of loyal people of the old ruler that swore their loyalty to these filthy pigs that called themselves royalty,’
[Don’t even think about blocking that attack, no matter what you’ll have to run, the volume of that trap can’t be blocked. If you could, I would congratulate you on the spot and even speak a few kind words for someone as irresponsible as you. I’m not joking, you can’t block that, if you do your body will be shredded into a million pieces. With just a sheer amount of force that’s within that trap]
’I can see the opening we just have to enter that hoooooooooooly shit!!!! They’re not going to make it, and the circle is about to close. Moon, grab them all, and Sun I need you to block the next attack, I can hear such a powerful vibration. If they get hit at that point, I can’t even imagine them surviving that large amount of force,’
"Erick, hold that opening until I catch the three of them. Do anything as long as you’re able to keep it from collapsing," With just a few seconds left before the upcoming round that came from the large mechanism above his current location. He summons forth his familiar that changed their body to a whole new level after he unleash their seal
[System: Familiar Sun & Moon has been relinquished of their mutation seal. The homunculus-exclusive magical beast has revealed their true form. They’re sealed power is emerging from the depths of their body, you have enough bond to control them in their crazed state. The familiars awakened]
Even if it was for a short moment, he was able to release the full potential of his familiar, Sun manifested a thick layer of fur. Which hides her scales that came from a variety of different armored beasts, while her counterpart. On her opposite, Moon changes his form to suit its purpose of capturing the companion of his master. Spikes disappeared from its body, poisonous breath, and many other deadly features were removed. To safely gather his allies at the same time, their leader had arrived
[System: The familiar Origin (Morgan) has activated the skill [Blessing of the sovereign]. An exclusive skill for leader type familiar which increases the overall stat of those under its ruling. Familiar Sun & Moon has been influenced by the skill, their stats have been increased by 30%]
Sun released a powerful roar that manages to push back the sound in time granting Moon the time he needed to capture his prey. After everything was settled, they were forcefully summoned back to his side. Which brought along his companions that were able to keep a hold of his familiar. Once they reached the other side of the hole, they found themselves surrounded by a ton of npcs
