Chapter 159: Into The Edge We Go [3]
Woah why are guys here...? Back for more? Now’s really not the perfect time for that, how come you may ask. Well, it started in the evening while im in the middle of the forest with these three running beside me. Oh right you’re asking how I got into this kind of a mess, let’s go back an hour or two
hours ago
’Characteristic is a big hulking player and his name is a Knight, which is a class that’s mostly found to be a vanguard. There’s no way it, can it? I don’t think that it’s a coincidence at this point, Esther, Kyo min soo. Also the time I met Gaust, even if the system gave me a hint concerning Gaust’s current location. I can’t deny the fact that I was the one that chose this biome in the first place I wonder if this has something to do with me~’
[Morris dodge!!!]
"What?" He wasn’t able to dodge in time once he got a glimpse of a blade that wasn’t even detected by his ears. Nor was he alerted by any chi or mana that was imbued at a speeding dagger that came in his way. Before he could do anything in response, the weapon was already blocked. While his front was covered by Sam that notices such a fast and speeding projectile aimed at her allies
"Zen, are you okay?" Sam quickly checks his body for any kind of injuries, while Jenna and Colt pulled out their weapons. Pointing it to the dark that wasn’t reached by the light that came from their campfire. He takes his time and examined the item that shocked him after he saw the results
[Appraisal: Analysis completed, the knife has a trait called [Stealth]. It was able to hide its presence that hides its sound and applied mana/chi. It also can inflict an increased amount of damage if no one has perceived its presence]
’Stealth!!? Why the hell does this ordinary weapon have affixes? It’s not even the stage for affixes to be a thing. What in the hell is happening!!?’
Before they could assess whether or not they had encountered an attack, they received a heavy firing of long-range attacks. That was oddly similar to what was about to strike Morris at his most vulnerable spot. They countered by sending their attacks that either manage to break the projectile or redirect its flow away from their body. When this was currently transpiring before their very eyes, Morris changes the difficulty level of his traps. That was located in the area where they received a heavy amount of pressure from an unknown group
[System: You’ve changed the difficulty of the traps you’ve previously placed, they now became more aggressive. Lethality has drastically increased, and power output is now being fully utilized. Auto repairing has been initiated, every broken part has been repaired. Changing the weapons to match the lethality and new adjusted power output, previous command. Has now become obsolete, the newly created objective is to annihilate any hostile threat]
"What the hell!!!" Jenna and the others witnessed a large sparkling light that momentarily disappeared. Alongside the spilled blood of their enemies that came after the disappearance of the light. Dozens of dismembered bodies fell from the sky, while they heard the screams of such nightmarish trap
"What are you guys waiting for!!? We have to run, pack everything and let’s go!!?" They didn’t even ask Zen any kind of question and simply followed his command. By fleeing from their current area and entering a much thicker area within the forest
[Hey, I’ve managed to track down what you told me. That thing about a trace of any powerful mana dispersion. I’ve found a similar reading to what you requested]
’Great... Can you send me the coordinates?’
He momentarily enhances his sense of hearing with his chi which displayed him such a gruesome sight to behold. Apart from all of the blood that was unnecessarily spilled, he didn’t see anyone that was able to catch up in their tracks
[System: The player Christoper Morris has activated the skill Mirage. Which grants a player a perfectly created copy that possesses its skill]
His allies were too focused on their own lives that they didn’t even dare to look back. Which gave him the time to spawn a few mirages, that quickly followed his command to cover their tracks in a ton of spell circles. That would’ve been easily triggered upon contact, making it harder for anyone to casually follow their trail. And soon after they escape from their unknown attackers, they entered deeper into the forest. Which houses a variety of deadly monsters, once they’ve finally calmed down, they took refuge inside a cave
"Sigh... I guess that’s that... We can rest here for a while..." Morris was busy panting after they stopped and once he regained his breath and simply turn around to face the fire. In his view, was his allies who aimed their weapons that were pointed at his face. Along with the arrival of an irritating voice that only spells trouble
([]Rewrite system: The author is currently at point-blank range of a weapon wielded by a few hostile players. The system notices a slight hesitation in their actions to release an attack on the author. Activation of the function [Persuasion] is in effect. Your words can affect the decision of non-transmigrated players])
"Zen, we trusted you with our lives... Would you care to explain what was that thing that the three of us saw? I didn’t detect any kind of traps when we entered this place. So how come I wasn’t able to detect all of those things that so happen to activate once you alerted us?" Sam placed her dagger below his throat and Jenna along with Colt remained to aim their staff and now at his head
[System: Your frustration is being neutralized since it doesn’t belong to the personality of file name Radiant Knight]
"I didn’t do anything wrong I swear. I just place some traps if there was a chance. That we might have encountered a bunch of monsters," He replied with an uneasy tone and a facial expression that was filled with terror by the actions of his allies. Sam and Colt didn’t believe what came out of his mouth, however, Jenna was convinced about his acting. Even going so far as to remind the two of his current position
"Hold on!!! Can’t we just talk this out? Zen hasn’t done anything wrong, aren’t you guys forgetting that he just saved us?"
([System: The mob character [Jenna] is being persuaded by your words. Whilst the other mobs remained to be unfazed by your words])
"Jenna, this isn’t the time!!! Didn’t you see that? Those traps could’ve killed just about anyone. Think about the chance if Knight came in contact with that trap," Sam brushes off her words after she uses the name of their comrades. For a good amount of reasons to aim their hostility toward their newly recruited ally
"That’s a frostherian trap set, it has a function to lower and increase the lethality option of a trap. It was on a lower level in case your ally would’ve triggered one of them if he were to notice our tracks. If you don’t believe that, then answer this... Why would I help you guys just to do something that’ll make you hate me? What would I gain if I were to kill you guys, nothing right...? If I were aiming to kill you guys off, isn’t being in a position where im in charge of everyone’s share of food the best way to kill all of you?"
After he said another way of ending their lives, they slowly come to realize that he didn’t mean any kind of harm. His tone wasn’t that of a trickster and his facial expression was out of pure shock and fear for one’s life. Showing his strength would only reinforce their beliefs that he has any kind of ill intentions. Which made it clear that his only option was to persuade them into believing his words
([Rewrite system: You’ve successfully managed to persuade multiple mob characters at once. Proficiency of the function has increased to a certain extent. The suspicion that the three mob characters which were pointed at the author are gone])
"Sorry about that, Zen we didn’t mean to aim our suspicion at you. It’s just a little hard to believe any word that came from a stranger’s mouth. But you are a part of our team, it’s a little selfish if we didn’t trust you like everyone else," Colt gave him a pat on the back after they came back to their senses
"Of course, it was all an accident I wouldn’t hold any kind of grudges against you guys (Fuck you assholes!!! If only you guys know that im holding myself from killing all of you)," His inner thoughts didn’t even leak, and his facial expression remained unchanged as a player that survives a misunderstanding
"Well, It’s going to be harder to find Knight, after all, we’ve just entered coordinates farther away from his location," It was at this moment that he finally told the three of them the truth about their ally
"You wouldn’t believe me if I say this~" He paused for a moment and waited for their answer
"Zen, come on just tell us. If you still have some doubts after our rude display I’ll promise I’ll believe you. No matter how hard it is to swallow, you can trust me~" Sam replied while she keeps checking the coordinates. Until her hands were then gently held up by Zen
"Your injured ally destroyed his ring"
"Come again?" The three of them were confused about the information that came from their ally
"Okay, let’s take this slowly, your... Injured ally... Broke his pair of his ring... Right about now, the coordinates that you’re following is not the right one. And the area that we’ve arrived at is his current location~ what do you guys have with my neck!??"
"Who are you!!?" A sharp and pointy blade that’s from an enormous sword was being held near Morris’s neck. By a figure that appeared out of nowhere and dons the same armor. As the mentioned ally that was their main objective in reaching this area
