79: Chapter 62: Questioning and Killing 79: Chapter 62: Questioning and Killing Continuing forward, the group saw more corpses by the roadside.

The dead were all innocent civilians of Constantinople, most of whom had been stabbed from behind.

Many bodies had their wrists or fingers chopped off to snatch their watches and rings, making the deaths extremely horrific and cruel.

However, none were as shocking as the initial sight of the mother and child.

Through the vision of the Mind Body, Medea saw that Sigrdrifa’s mind was filled with a blood-red killing intent, while Eleanor’s was a deep red of anger.

Peggy and Mia exhibited a blue-green color of disgust and revulsion, Nora was a deep green representing sorrow and grief.

Even the always expressionless Miel’s Mind Body showed a slightly sad light green.

Only Aske’s Mind Body color remained a dull gray, like the somber hue of steel.

Calm.

This man, even when confronted with hellish scenes, still maintained an unshakable calm and sanity, without a hint of emotional disturbance.

Medea licked her lips, feeling an increasing curiosity to delve deeper into this man’s soul.

Eleanor, holding her gun and shield, led the way at the front, with Sigrdrifa carrying her battle axe and swaggering beside her.

Mia was reconnoitering a hundred meters ahead, providing a basic early warning mechanism for the team.

“Three enemies,” Mia’s voice finally came through the radio channel, “sixty meters ahead, just coming out of the shop.”

Following Mia’s direction, the rapidly advancing group saw three Frank Knights emerging from the shop, almost every one of them draped in brightly colored clothes freshly stripped from dead bodies, their pockets filled with rings and watches, and with makeshift sacks made from rags on their backs, containing mobile phones just looted from the shop.

“Eleanor,” Aske’s deep voice sounded over the radio channel, “can you wait for me?”

“Do you want to take action personally?” asked Aske.

“I want to ask them a few questions,” Eleanor said.

Aske fell silent.

From professional habit, his first instinct was to refuse such naive and childish behavior, but Medea’s earlier words reminded him.

Bonding teams through common interest cannot last forever if their fundamental views do not align and will eventually fall apart.

The sense of team belonging…

still needed to be nurtured.

“Go ahead,” Aske said, “but be careful.

Sigrdrifa, go support her.”

“Okay,” Sigrdrifa promptly agreed.

The three Frank Knights, joking and laughing, suddenly became alert and stopped in their tracks.

Eleanor stood in the middle of the road, looking coldly at them, her long spear and shield reflecting a chilling cold light.

“You…” Eleanor slowly asked, “do you understand what you are doing?”

“Mercenaries from Constantinople?” The Frank Knights drew their great swords and sabers, but Eleanor’s next words stopped them dead.

“Are you still believers of God?” Along with Eleanor’s accusation, the three Frank Knights’ faces immediately turned pale.

“It was your Emperor Constantine who broke his promise first!” one Frank Knight shouted, “We came to kill the heretics!

But your emperor promised to pay for the ship fare and then went back on his word at the last moment.

Do you expect us to just drift on the sea?”

“That does not justify your killing!” Eleanor swung her long spear forcefully, a fierce wind sounding as if it could shatter gold and split stones, “Unarmed civilians, mothers, and children, how could you bring yourselves to kill them?

What about the vows you made before God when you became knights?

Are you not afraid of descending into hell and facing judgment?”

One Frank Knight immediately dropped to his knees, trembling as he pressed his forehead to the ground, muttering prayers for God’s forgiveness.

The other two Frank Knights exchanged a panicked glance, hastily trying to defend themselves:

“It’s not true!

We…

have the permission of the Holy Throne!

He allowed us to come and re-establish order in Constantinople…”

But their words faltered; could maintaining order mean killing and looting?

Their excuses gradually turned incoherent.

“The blood you shed and the lives you harm, the Lord will demand an accounting,” Eleanor raised her long spear vertically, her gaze locking onto the knights, “Whosoever sheds man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed.”

This was already a declaration of war, the two Frank Knights swallowed nervously and also raised their weapons, assuming a battle-ready stance.

However, Eleanor did not immediately engage them but said softly:

“Aske, I have finished asking my questions here.”

“Oh.” Aske replied, “Then let’s clear these enemies.”

“Finally, can we fight now?” Sigrdrifa complained, “You Franks talk too much!

We people of the North don’t waste words on such matters.”

With her battle axe in hand, she said, “Killing is enough.”

The two girls charged at their opponents instantly, with the Frank Knights shouting as they swung their weapons in greeting.

Instantly, blood spattered from the throat of the Frank Knight on the left as Peggy ran her short sword across his throat from behind; the Frank Knight on the right’s head reeled back as a bullet struck his skull.

Had it been any other two Solomons here, they would have been fatally struck down.

But Peggy’s short sword, as if cutting through crocodile skin, had difficulty, and despite all her strength, she couldn’t sever the windpipe.

Miel’s bullet lodged in the knight’s skull without penetrating.

The physical power of these two knights was above level four.

“Control the right, focus fire on the left,” Aske quickly said over the channel, “Catch the stun!”

Medea immediately looked at the knight on the right, taunting, “Just a simple Frank Knight after all.”

The knight, furious, raised his head, and in the moment his gaze met hers, his self-awareness was controlled; he stood dazed and confused.

Being heavily skewed toward physical power, he was extremely weak in spirit resistance, completely unable to resist the attacks from a mental level.

Eleanor and Sigrdrifa, one in front and one behind, both advanced towards the knight on the left.

The opponent twisted his body and charged forward like a wild bull, swinging the two-handed greatsword from above, Mountain Crashing Strike!

The blade chopped down, and the shield was raised.

In the blink of an eye, Eleanor had already swung her left-hand shield to counterattack, the steel blade violently colliding with the orichalcum shield, causing both combatants to stagger backward from the force.

Rigid state.

In usual training, Aske instilled the most knowledge about how to seize combo opportunities in group battles.

First was the rigidity caused by blocking or parrying and second was the stiffness caused by being attacked.

Now, seeing the knight’s body slightly lean back, the others were not going to miss this chance; they instinctively moved according to their training.

In an instant, Sigrdrifa’s battle axe, Mia and Peggy’s short swords, and Miel’s bullets all focused fire on the knight.

At the unprotected spots of the armor, a large amount of flesh burst open instantly.

The critically wounded knight swung his great sword like mad, trying to push back the surrounding enemies, when suddenly another figure appeared and harshly slashed him again.

Is it you?

The knight looked at his ally in shock, then fell into a near-death coma.

The controlled knight’s eyes became vacant as he struck his head once more, completely killing him on the spot.

Then he turned around dazedly, reversed his military saber, and slashed his own throat powerfully, cutting it open.

The intense pain made his mind awaken from being controlled, filling his eyes with incredulity as he collapsed powerlessly backward onto the ground.

A large amount of extraordinary power flowed out from the bodies of the two knights.

Lacking extraordinary traits, this power couldn’t coalesce into form, but was slowly absorbed by the others present.

So much!

Feeling the abundant spirituality surge through her, Sigrdrifa became excited immediately.

She couldn’t wait and turned her head to look at the knight still kneeling on the ground, then suddenly struck with her axe, instantly killing him.

The opponent did not muster physical power to resist but just accepted the axe, dying as if relieved from a heavy burden.

“What are you doing!” Eleanor exclaimed in shock, scolding her.

“Killing the enemy,” Sigrdrifa replied.

“He had already lost his will to fight!” Eleanor shouted angrily, “How is what you did different from slaughtering an unarmed person?”

“He was not unarmed,” Sigrdrifa defended herself, “Who killed all those corpses we saw along the way?”

“The ones responsible for those bloody debts suddenly repenting and kneeling before death, they can avoid being killed?

Who was just quoting ‘Whosever shed man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed’?”

Eleanor was left speechless, her face ashen.

Seeing the two women about to fall out, Aske had to intervene to smooth things over:

“Alright, no more arguing.

Eleanor, look at the expression on the knight’s face before he died; clearly, there was relief and tranquility.

He probably had long thought of atoning with his death.

Sigrdrifa killing him actually fulfilled his own wish.”

Hearing this, Eleanor looked down and indeed saw that the knight’s face was calm and tranquil, distinctly different from the fierce faces of the others killed.

So, her expression softened slightly, and she shook her head, not speaking further.

The group continued their ascent up the mountain, once again seeing more corpses… and scattered Frank Knights.

These knights had extreme attributes, their extraordinary power entirely converted into physical power, to the extent that even bullets had difficulty penetrating their bodies.

However, their spiritual power was similar to that of ordinary humans, allowing Medea to control one with just a glance, followed by a merciless focused fire and encirclement to kill them.

At the commercial district base on the mountain summit, the group encountered the first threat—a hunting squad formed by seven Frank Knights, specifically targeting nearby guards and armed forces.

Then, this hunting squad encountered a counter-hunt.

At the start of the battle, Medea directly controlled one of the knights with her gaze.

The knight, relying on inertia, took a few steps forward, his great sword swinging viciously at a nearby ally.

The other was caught off guard, not even managing to block in time, as the enormous head soared into the sky.

“The Heart-snatching Witch!

Do not look into her eyes!” the Frank Knights called out, quickly splitting into two groups.

Two of them swiftly engaged the controlled knight, while the other three turned rapidly, rushing toward Medea with their great swords.

“Eleanor, side move to block,” Aske commanded.

Eleanor quickly held up her shield, blocking the charge path of the three knights.

The knights raised their great swords simultaneously, slamming into the shield with the momentum of their charge, the immense force knocking her and her armor flying.

“Sigrdrifa, tornado slash straight ahead,” Aske said quickly.

Tornado Slash!

Sigrdrifa spun around wielding her dual axes, becoming a whirlwind of blades, and charged rapidly towards the three knights.

The knights immediately dispersed to evade, skillfully dodging her attack.

At that moment, Aske said again:

“Shadow, left one, focus fire.”

The knight on the far left was retreating when suddenly a hand emerged from the shadow on the ground, holding a short sword and slashing at his ankle.

The blade collided heavily with the steel shin guards, causing the knight’s step to stagger slightly, then suddenly his head was violently jerked backward.

Shot between the eyebrows.

The timing was extremely precise, catching him just as he staggered, causing him to completely lose balance and irrevocably fall backward.

Peggy quickly rushed beneath him, taking advantage of the immense inertia of his body and armor to thrust her short sword straight into his spine.

Directly above her, Sigrdrifa had already leaped high with axe raised.

Jump chop!

The axe cleaved into his skull, finishing off the Frank Knight’s remaining life, as the remaining two knights immediately lunged toward Sigrdrifa.

Miel’s rifle fired at full power, bullets tracing intersecting trajectories in the air.

The knights, despite sustaining bullet damage, charged fiercely, determined to take Sigrdrifa down.

Then they saw Aske, alone with a sword, blocking in front of Sigrdrifa.
