59: Chapter 49 Pursuit Plan 59: Chapter 49 Pursuit Plan When the Imperial Agent dispatched by His Majesty Zoe arrived at the Aske family mansion, he realized that the place was already empty.

On the train heading west, Aske was idly scrolling through his phone while Nora sat beside him, curiously gazing out the window at the plains.

“Aske?” she turned to ask, “Where are we going?”

While the other girls continued their daily training on Fire Island, it was only Nora and Medea, who heard Aske was leaving Constantinople, that clamored about feeling stifled in the half-plane and wanted to get out and breathe some air on the train.

“Our destination is Stanimaka,” Aske replied, still focused on his phone, “a military town located in the central-southern part of the Imperial Thrace Province.”

“Are we going treasure hunting?” Nora asked curiously.

“No, we’re going to fight a wild map boss,” Aske responded as he handed her the phone.

Nora looked at the phone screen, which displayed a news article:

“From Solomon’s ‘Truth Newspaper,’ issue 327.”

“Recently confirmed by the Church Court, Temple Knight Fengkexim has betrayed the Holy See; his true identity is an undercover agent for Emperor Otto of the Divine Luo Empire, infiltrating the Holy Temple Knights to spy on the Church Court’s intelligence over a long period.”

“This despicable betrayal has provoked the Holy See’s wrath, prompting the Red Cardinal Clement to pursue and kill him.”

“Reliable sources indicate that Fengkexim has been injured by the bishop and has fled to the border of the East Solomon Empire.”

“The Church Court has now issued a heretic pursuit order; any mercenary group that kills Fengkexim and brings back his entire head to the Church Court will be rewarded with 500 pounds and qualification to register for the Holy Temple Knights.”

“Caution: Fengkexim’s cyborg enhancements are at 70% (extremely dangerous).

His equipped weapon is the Slaughterer III Rifle, which can switch between assault and sniper modes.

The assault mode fires five-round bursts; the sniper mode fires two-round bursts, equipped with self-aiming and support laser components, making it highly powerful.

Those inexperienced in handling firearms should be wary.”

“This Slaughterer is part of the series belonging to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a Blue Name rifle that could essentially be used throughout the mid to late stages,” Aske noted indifferently, “Military firearms are mostly produced by the Solomon Church; civilians can’t access them, let alone such high-grade gear with self-aiming components…

We might not care about the bounty, but we must get our hands on that rifle.”

“What’s a Blue Name weapon?” Nora inquired curiously, entering baby mode.

“And what’s this self-aiming component?”

“White, green, blue, purple, orange; equipment is graded from low to high,” Aske responded.

“Most weapons are plain white.

If made with special materials, like the Meteorite Armor Ellie wears, that’s considered green and of superior quality.”

“On this basis, if equipped with Extraordinary Runes or high-tech components, it becomes a Blue Name piece of equipment; a massive integration of components or runes forming arrays makes it Purple Name equipment; Orange Name is the highest grade where almost every piece is unique.”

“So, this rifle is a Blue Name weapon, considered to be of a very fine grade,” Nora murmured thoughtfully.

“Exactly,” Aske said.

“If we later modify it, upgrading it to a Purple Name firearm is also possible, not to mention it’s a sniper rifle.

Do you know the maximum range of a sniper rifle?”

“Um, 1000 meters?” Nora guessed.

“2000 meters,” Aske corrected.

“Any farther and the trajectory would be affected by gravity and crosswinds; hitting the target would then just be down to luck.”

“The self-aiming component can overcome this limitation; it’s a device that emits infrared laser, marking the invisible laser on the enemy, and then the bullet automatically corrects its trajectory in mid-air to precisely hit the target along the laser path.”

“With a sniper rifle equipped with a self-aiming component, the line of sight becomes the range; as long as you can aim, even twenty thousand meters away, you can hit a person.”

“But we wouldn’t normally deal with enemies from such a distance, right?” Nora asked in surprise, thinking if she would have to run thousands of meters away to set up her rifle if she encountered an enemy.

“That’s true under normal circumstances, but there’s one exception: when we face high-rank enemies,” Aske explained.

“Let’s say we have a level 19 enemy with Mind Power as his Main Sequence, mastering similar laws; then, all of us combined wouldn’t be a match for him as we’d be controlled by him as soon as we get close.”

“However, if it’s a sniper, there is a chance to snipe him from a distance.

After all, few laws or bloodlines can sense or strike an enemy over two thousand meters away, giving the sniper rifle a crushing advantage in such situations.”

“Theoretically, a skilled sniper can kill any Transcendent below a Demigod focused on spiritual power with just one bullet.

If it’s a Giant, a Dragon, or others focused on physical power, then several bullets might be required.”

“There’s a saying, ‘Below a Demigod, all are mere mortals,’ and that’s exactly the principle here.”

As they chatted, they saw Medea appear at the carriage entrance, bringing over a plate of peeled hazelnuts.

“You’re too slow,” Aske joked.

“Couldn’t help it, got chatted up by a bunch of smelly men on the way,” Medea said nonchalantly.

“A few even tried to get physical, revealing their dirty desires, which I could clearly sense even without using my Mind Power.”
