Chapter 38 - 38 29 Heaven Mountain
38: Chapter 29 Heaven Mountain 38: Chapter 29 Heaven Mountain Three or four longswords fell in succession, and Aske slid in under the encirclement of the Sleeping Warriors, breaking through.
He bounced up from the ground, the sword light suddenly bursting upwards.
Far East Swordsmanship, Rising Dragon Slash!
The Sleeping Warrior in front was using his sword to block when Aske’s strong Rising Dragon Slash interrupted his defense.
Aske followed with a Falling Phoenix Slash, plunging his longsword into the opponent’s skull.
Holding the sword in both hands, Aske swung the corpse around him as a meat shield to block the countless attacks from the surrounding enemies.
Then he violently withdrew his longsword and forced the surrounding enemies back with a Half Moon Slash, casually choosing a direction to break through.
A Sleeping Warrior in that direction attempted to intercept, but Aske’s longsword suddenly sloped downward, stabbing at his foot.
The warrior quickly swung his sword to defend, but Aske’s longsword bounced off his blade and strangely reversed its direction, thrusting straight for his throat.
Caucasus Assassination Skill, Sand Sword!
The tip of the sword pierced the throat and withdrew, splashing out fresh blood.
Aske turned and side-stepped, dodging an assault by several Sleeping Warriors, and suddenly performed an upwards slice with his longsword, the East Solomon Military Swordsmanship “Vibrating Wings,” forcibly breaking the opponent’s block, followed by “Continuous Stabbing” that punctured a bloody hole in the enemy’s chest, then grabbed the corpse by the shoulders to take incoming attacks, before kicking it away.
In a flash, he had taken down four Sleeping Warriors, causing even Priest Alexander to rue, remotely commanding his warriors to exit the encirclement and permitting the remaining Steel Knight illusions to advance and attack.
Aske rolled away, dodging the knight’s long spear thrust, suddenly drawing the Imperial Eagle and aiming at Priest Alexander, noticing Peggy closing in on the BOSS from behind.
Peggy also winked at him, and a subtle tacit understanding arose between them.
A gunshot rang out, and the Imperial Eagle roared with flames as Aske fired.
Priest Alexander immediately activated his Dream Materialization Ability, creating a channel to collective subconsciousness in the air and devouring the elephant hunting bullet into it.
Then, a fatal pain erupted in his chest: a short sword pierced through his torso from behind, rendering him unable to maintain the gateway to the collective subconsciousness, and the next bullet from the Imperial Eagle shattered his skull.
The skull and its contents exploded, spattering red, white, and gray matter all over Peggy, who couldn’t dodge in time.
“Ptui, ptui, ptui!” She spat out in disgust, continually slapping off the brain matter, blood, and skull fragments that covered her.
The last of the Steel Knight illusions vanished, and Eleanor, holding a shield and long spear, charged into battle.
The two met in the midst of combat, parrying attacks from Sleeping Warriors on either side.
Aske then said,
“Have Medea cancel the burst.”
As a result, Eleanor once again broke through the lines, shouting toward Medea in the distance,
“Enough, Medea, close your eyes!”
Amidst the flames, the exhausted Medea was forced to extract Spirituality from her nearly depleted Spiritual Body.
Hearing Eleanor’s call, she forced her eyes shut and activated her Mind Power on herself:
“There are no beasts here…
There are no beasts here…
Everything is just a false illusion…”
The revulsion latching onto her consciousness gradually faded away, and a sense of exhaustion returned to her limbs.
The flames on her body extinguished, she slowly collapsed, supported on the shoulder by the arriving Eleanor, who used her long spear to deflect enemy assaults.
Off in the distance, the gunshots from Aske resumed rhythmically, and the blood-drenched Peggy, like a vicious ghost, arrived and began slaughtering the remaining Sleeping Warriors.
These dream-trapped fellows felt no pain and knew no fear.
If combined with unified command, they would be formidable warriors.
However, due to the death of all the Priest BOSSes, the inherent flaws of their rigid mechanical nature were laid bare, allowing the trio to effortlessly slaughter them all.
“The Healer is here!” Seeing no enemies left standing on the field, Nora hastily ran over, first supporting the gravely injured Medea.
She noticed Medea’s severe Spiritual Energy overdraft; nearly all her organs were failing.
Her burst state had indeed dealt great damage to her.
Nora could only use her Healing Touch to move within her body, soothing cells’ disturbances with her Extraordinary Ability and letting nutrient-rich blood once again flow into her spasming tissues.
“Alright, who’s next?” It took just a few minutes for Nora to stabilize Medea’s condition, and she lifted her tired face, looking at the others and saying,
“The second worst injured is naturally Eleanor.
As the MT, she stayed by Medea’s side the entire time during her burst, absorbing a huge amount of damage.
Thanks to the strong defense of her Meteorite Armor, Eleanor didn’t have any serious wounds, just a lot of tissue contusions, muscle strains, and slight fractures here and there.”
“There, all done.” Nora quickly healed her, then administered a Healing Needle, turned her head and asked, “Peggy?
Mr.
Aske?
Don’t you need healing?”
“I’m not injured,” Peggy coolly stated, arms crossed, sporting a proud look that said, “Me, get hurt with my speed?”
“Okay then.” Nora looked uneasily at the blood-soaked Peggy, wondering whether all that was the enemy’s blood.
Miss Peggy of the Flesh Sequence was indeed a formidable Transcendent.
If even she was unharmed, then surely Aske, far more formidable, must be perfectly okay.
“I need healing,” Aske said as he approached.
“Eh?” Nora suddenly felt as if she’d misheard.
“Shot too much, my wrist is somewhat dislocated,” Aske explained with a wry smile.
Nora pulled his right hand for a look and, sure enough, the joints were severely swollen.
That Imperial Eagle, it seemed to use 15.2mm caliber bullets?
With such powerful recoil, to continuously pull the trigger in such a short time, it was no wonder Mr.
Aske’s wrist couldn’t handle it.
She thought this while gently stroking Aske’s wrist with her Healing Touch, her cheeks suddenly flushing with a bit of embarrassment.
“Thank you.” Aske examined his right hand and noticed the redness and swelling had subsided.
This NPC’s healing ability is really quite impressive, solid technical skills are the foundation of a professional Healer, I indeed made the right choice back then.
Completely unaware of the other’s blushing, Aske became quite pleased with himself for his discerning eye and luck.
The instance battle concluded here, and from the bodies of the Sleeping Warriors strewn about in disarray, a pale blue Extraordinary trait emerged.
After counting the number of bodies, there were roughly more than twenty, which meant…
“More than twenty Extraordinary Traits!” Nora exclaimed excitedly.
“Sleeping Warriors in the Dream Heaven sect are merely like disposable experimental personnel of a low level.” Aske shook his head, “Their levels are generally around Level 1, and what they possess are the most basic Dream I Extraordinary Traits.
But more than twenty…
that number is indeed a bit excessive, it’s likely we’ve taken out the entire Dream Heaven’s East Solomon branch this time.”
He walked over to a body, pinched an Extraordinary trait of Dream I, tasting it as he remarked:
“There isn’t much Extraordinary Power in it…”
“Nora!” Aske suddenly thought of something, “Ask that Killian from the Life Sect if he’s interested in these more than 20 Dream I traits?
We can sell them to him in bulk, along with these five advanced Priests, they should be Level 4 Extraordinary Ability Users, their traits can also be sold separately.”
“Okay.” Nora immediately took out her phone, beginning to contact a senior from the Life Sect.
Medea was still in a coma from Spirituality exhaustion, so she couldn’t raise any objection to Aske’s decision to sell all the Extraordinary Traits at once.
The other girls cared even less, they didn’t know the use of Dream I traits anyway, better to just sell them and divide the money.
So, the decision on how to deal with the spoils of war was happily made.
Aske then inspected the bodies of the priests again, discovering several Magic Potion Recipes of Dream I, Mind I, and Shadow I, keeping them as a knowledge reserve for the time being.
The final issue was what to do with the giant light orb in the sky.
Aske squinted his eyes, looking into the interior of the light orb.
Was there something faintly visible inside?
Something at the core?
“Eleanor!” Aske waved Eleanor over, “Do you see something at the center of that light orb?
Is there something there?”
“It seems so.” Eleanor squinted her eyes as well, “It looks like…
a book?”
“Throw your long spear at it, see if you can knock it down.” Aske said.
“Alright.” Eleanor grabbed the long spear with one hand, aimed at the light orb for a moment, then thrust her arm out violently.
With a clatter, the whole light orb dissipated.
The spear firmly stuck into the ground, and what fell down was a book.
It was a book that looked to be of some age, its pages nearly yellow.
The cover was wrapped in brown cowhide, and on it, in blue-black ink, was written a string of stylish English:
Absurd Dreams (Absurd_Dreams)
This was a subsidiary volume of Freud’s works, a mysterious scholarly paper on the study of the Mind Body and dreams.
However, its most important function was not the recording of knowledge, but…
…it preserved a fragment of Heaven Mountain.
Aske’s Spirituality unfolded, rapidly extending to the Absurd Dreams book.
Through his Spiritual vision, he could clearly see a door deep within the book, slightly ajar; at one end of the door was the ocean and the continent, the symbol of reality; at the other end was a vast expanse of sky and sea of clouds, the key to the Half-plane, which was also the marker for a fragment of Heaven Mountain.
Spirituality lightly touched the door, and Aske forcibly closed it.
Thus, the bystanders felt a blur before their eyes as the mountains, forests, islands…
all vanished in an instant.
They were sitting in a small boat provided by a merchant ship, with ropes, oil lamps, oars, supplies, and signal flares neatly arranged at the stern.
Surrounding them were boundless waters and waves, glittering with speckled golden luster under the morning sun.
“What happened?” Nora looked around, bewildered.
Eleanor gasped in disbelief, clutching the gunwale and extending her hand to stir the cold sea water outside the boat.
She then puzzledly checked the ropes on the boat, which were indeed neatly arranged in bundles.
But just last night, they had tied them to a tree, when the boats landed on the shallow shore…
If it weren’t for Medea, exhausted from Spirituality and still lying on Nora’s lap, it might have indeed seemed to them that the whole night’s battle was just a shared dream.
“Aske…” Nora turned her questioning gaze to Aske.
In the face of some peculiar transcendent event, just ask this all-knowing Squad Leader.
Aske smiled slightly, controlled the book with his Spirituality, and once again opened the door.
The surrounding scenery changed in an instant again; they were sitting on a flat mountaintop, with the dawn sun rising into the sky.
Then he closed the door with Spirituality, and the island and mountains disappeared once more.
Everyone was still sitting neatly in the small boat.
“This book,” Aske showed the book in his hand to everyone, “titled Absurd Dreams, inside it there is a sealed Half-plane Fragment from Heaven Mountain.”
