Chapter 88: Alex vs The Earth Patriarch (9)
The scorched earth welcomed Alex like an old friend.
As his boots dug into the ashen soil, he stopped, golden lightning cracking beneath his heels and rippling outward in jagged arcs. The remnants of the Thunder Wolf’s domain surrounded him—shattered stone, twisted trees blackened by ancient storms, and deep gouges in the land that whispered of violent death. There was no wind here. No birds. No life.
Only silence—and tension, coiled like a predator waiting to strike.
He exhaled slowly.
The hum within his chest rose as the nano suit fully deployed—a ripple across his body like liquid metal locking into place. It was sleek, black, and predatory.
The suit clung to him like a shadow incarnate, a seamless combination of technology and magic. Golden strips carved across it in jagged, lightning-like patterns, pulsing with power as if alive. His mouth and jaw were hidden beneath a darkened mask, only his glowing eyes visible beneath the hood—streaked with light and cold resolve.
His katana, usually resting at his waist, now hung diagonally across his back—secured in a magnetic sheath.
He looked like a phantom pulled from a storm.
Not a man.
Not beast.
Something in between.
The atmosphere thickened.
And then—he arrived.
From above, a low rumble echoed across the land, shaking the cracked earth as a figure descended from the heavens with the presence of a sovereign. A wave of power rolled ahead of him—ancient, regal, and crushing.
Khepri Geb.
He landed with the weight of a king returning to his throne, feet pressing into the soil without ceremony—but the world seemed to bend around him, acknowledging his presence.
His sharp eyes immediately scanned the area—and then locked onto Alex.
A flicker of recognition.
Then the confusion.
Then something else.
Interest.
Alex had changed.
The nano suit shimmered subtly beneath the clouded sun, black as void and cut through with golden lines that pulsed like veins. The weight of his aura had intensified— it was no longer just dense, but heavy, oppressive. It crawled along the world’s surface like a living thing, brushing against Khepri’s domain like a challenger knocking on a locked gate.
This was not the same Grandmaster from minutes ago.
And yet, Alex stood completely still.
His head tilted up, his gaze sharp and silent beneath the mask. Behind that stare was no fear, no bravado—only the chilling stillness of a storm that had chosen where to strike.
Khepri hovered a few feet above the ground, arms crossed, cloak stirring gently despite the lack of wind. His face betrayed nothing, but internally, gears turned.
That suit... It’s not just armor. It’s a weapon.
And that mana...seems like the suit is empowering him.
Looking at Alex, Khepri felt nothing but amusement as he already saw himself taking the boy back to the clan for experimentation.
As he could see his mother work on the suit, which could be nothing but spectacular, as anything made by her was always a master piece
Below him, Alex’s voice cut through the stale air like a blade drawn in silence.
"You’re here. Good."
He didn’t shout it. He didn’t need to. The tone carried weight, even through the mask. It resonated—calm, resolute, deliberate.
This was a battlefield now.
No crowds. No family. No interruptions.
Just two forces.
Two legacies were about to collide.
Khepri lowered himself to the ground, the dust coiling gently around his feet as he landed. His eyes narrowed, scanning every inch of the boy’s figure—reading the pressure, the posture, the position of his sword.
’That suit seems to have also enhanced him’.
And then, for a brief second, Khepri smiled.
It wasn’t kind.
It was the smile of a man who had walked through wars and crushed armies, now intrigued by something he felt would be his after this battle.
"That suit seems like it was created by your mom," Khepri said, calm but laced with steel. "But it won’t be enough."
The earth beneath his feet rumbled as mana surged around him, whispering of domain power still sealed—for now.
Alex tilted his head slightly.
"Let’s find out."
----
Alex didn’t waste the silence.
While Khepri hovered like a looming storm, measuring him with that regal, ancient stare, Alex’s thoughts were already elsewhere.
"Nova. Update on the suit."
A familiar hum vibrated through the base of his skull, sharp and clinical, like the whisper of gears turning inside his mind.
[NANO INTERFACE ENGAGED – STATUS: OPTIMAL]
All nano-bits are active and functioning at full capacity.
Mana conductivity: 99.3% efficiency.
Reflex enhancement system: Online.
Armor integrity: 100%.
Thunder-Elemental Integration: Stable.
"Good. Give me a status comparison—before and after nano suit deployment."
The world paused for a heartbeat. Then, a shimmering interface flickered over his eyes, projecting data with a faint electric pulse across the inside of his helmet like transparent glass.
[SYSTEM INTERFACE – USER: ALEX TYR]
Race: Human
Bloodline Tier: Higher
Rank: Grandmaster
Affinity: Thunder
// BEFORE NANO SUIT DEPLOYMENT:
Strength: 686
Agility: 698
Constitution: 750
Mana: 701
// AFTER NANO SUIT DEPLOYMENT:
Strength: 912
Agility: 981
Constitution: 887
Mana: 930
NOTE: Boost levels are calculated via suit’s synchronized amplification with the user’s elemental affinity and neural-link control. Current readings are influenced by elemental surges and will fluctuate in live combat conditions. Accuracy: 85%.
Alex’s gaze narrowed beneath the black helm.
He could feel the difference—not just in numbers but in raw response. The world moved more slowly now. Every motion, every pulse of mana around him, every particle in the air, felt touchable—like he could reach out and carve it apart with a whisper.
’Can never get less amazement by the suit she created’
’Each time she reminds me of why she was the greatest technician to ever live’.
Nova, what’s your assessment now?
"Your baseline before deployment was formidable. But with the nano suit active, your stats now rival low-tier Legend-rank warriors. In terms of raw speed, you surpass most. However—"
"However?"
"Your energy output is not sustainable in peak form for longer than thirteen minutes unless you reduce your thunder bursts or avoid domain entanglement."
Alex grunted quietly. He could work with that. Thirteen minutes were enough to break bones, reshape the terrain, and end this.
He slowly raised his head, letting the interface flicker off as the hum of the system quieted.
Khepri was still watching him.
Still trying to read him.
Keep watching, old man, Alex thought, as his hand flexed slowly—golden light sparking from his fingertips like a fuse burning toward something far worse.
He didn’t care what Khepri thought he saw.
He hadn’t seen anything yet.
