Revenge: A Path of Destruction
Chapter 168: Vacation 3

Chapter 168: Vacation 3

An hour later, Nyxara lay sprawled across the cool stone floor, her satisfied expression reminiscent of a cat that had just indulged in a hearty meal.

Her vibrant eyes shimmered with contentment, a hint of mischief lingering in the corners of her lips.

Meanwhile, Alex stood nearby, his brow furrowed in concentration as he wielded his mana with practiced ease.

The elegant aura of his mana swept through the chamber, tidying up the remnants of their feast.

The once-crowded table was now littered with scraps, the aftermath of Nyxara’s voracious appetite evident in the chaos that surrounded them.

After ensuring the room was immaculate, with not a morsel left behind, he gently summoned Nyxara back into his spatial storage, her presence fading with a flash of light.

Satisfied with his efforts, he made his way toward the main hall, his steps echoing softly against the polished floor.

As he strode through the establishment, the waitresses who had assisted in delivering their extravagant meal cast him glances of surprise and curiosity.

Their whispers danced softly in the air, like the fluttering of wings, as they exchanged incredulous looks. One bold waitress, her curiosity piqued, dashed back to the chamber to confirm an unthinkable truth.

It wasn’t the time he took to consume the meal that astonished them; it was his appearance. Most who attempted to tackle such a gargantuan feast would surely bear the telltale signs—a swollen belly, disheveled hair, or a look of utter fatigue.

Yet, Alex stood there unchanged, his posture confident and his expression calm. The reality was simple: he had only partaken of one dish, while Nyxara had eagerly devoured the rest.

The inquisitive waitress returned, her eyes wide with disbelief, and nodded to her fellow servers, all clearly taken aback by the scene.

An impulse surged within her, leading her to stop Alex just as he reached the threshold. "Sir, I just have to know, did you eat all that food?" she blurted out, her cheeks flushing crimson.

Alex regarded her with an emotionless gaze, his features inscrutable, before turning on his heel and walking away without a word.

The sudden silence that followed was palpable, leaving the waitress caught in a tide of embarrassment as her coworkers watched him exit the establishment.

Their astonishment lingered in the air like a spell, each of them acutely aware that Alex had not tucked the food into his spatial ring, leaving them with more questions than answers.

When food is stored in a spatial ring, it tends to float apart, as each item is counted as an individual component, which spoils the dish.

To solve this issue, most restaurants provide a case that encases the food, making it seem like a single component. But Alex hadn’t requested that at all.

With a purposeful stride, Alex exited the restaurant, his thoughts swirling amidst the tantalizing aromas and lively chatter he was leaving behind. He cast a sweeping glance at the vibrant street, the sun casting a warm glow over passersby, each lost in their world.

The waitress’s wide-eyed astonishment faded into the background as he breathed in the essence of a day ripe with potential.

Today was not just any day; it was a fleeting moment of freedom before he plunged into the depths of his meticulously crafted plan to bring Cassius to his knees.

Determined and unyielding, he embraced the life around him, savoring every second before the storm he was about to unleash.

So today, he didn’t want to think about anything for now.

The theater’s grand facade loomed ahead, its ornate architecture illuminated by the soft glow of enchanted lanterns.

Alex approached the entrance, the muffled strains of classical music beckoning him inside. He handed over his ticket to the usher, who gestured towards the dimly lit auditorium.

Inside, the ambiance was serene. Velvet drapes adorned the walls, and the scent of polished wood mingled with the faint aroma of aged parchment.

The stage was bathed in a gentle, golden light, highlighting the musicians as they performed with practiced precision.

Alex settled into a seat at the back, allowing the music to wash over him. The harmonious blend of strings and woodwinds created a tapestry of sound that resonated deeply. He closed his eyes, seeking solace in the melodies.

But peace was elusive.

"Ugh, this is so boring," Nyxara’s voice echoed in his mind, dripping with disdain.

Alex sighed, rubbing his temples. "Can you not, just for tonight?"

"It’s all the same—no rhythm, no excitement. Just endless droning."

He tried to focus on the performance, but her incessant commentary persisted.

"Seriously, Alex, how can you enjoy this? I could compose something better in my sleep."

After what felt like an eternity, the concert concluded. The audience erupted into polite applause, but Alex remained seated, his expression weary. He rose slowly, making his way out of the theater, the weight of Nyxara’s complaints heavy on his shoulders.

The theater doors swung shut behind Alex, muffling the lingering notes of the classical performance.

He stepped into the cool evening air, the city’s ambient glow casting long shadows on the cobblestone streets.

His brow was furrowed, lips pressed into a thin line—a clear sign of his mounting frustration.

That was the most excruciating experience of my life, Nyxara’s voice echoed in his mind, dripping with melodrama.

"You said that about the last concert in the Geb fortress," Alex muttered under his breath, adjusting the collar of his coat.

Because it’s always true! Who knew humans could make music sound so... lifeless?

"It’s called classical music. It’s supposed to be refined."

’Refined? It felt like my ears were being tortured by a thousand dying cats.’

Alex sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I didn’t beg you to come along."

’I thought there’d be snacks. Or at least a decent fight scene. But no, just endless screeching.’

"It’s a symphony, not a gladiator arena."

Well, they could’ve fooled me. I was ready to storm the stage and put them out of their misery.

"Please, just shut up."

Fine. But next time, we’re picking the venue based on my preferences.

"Which are?"

’Anywhere with food, fights, or fire. Preferably all three.’

Alex chuckled despite himself, the tension easing slightly. "Noted."

As they continued down the street, Alex’s steps slowed. Ahead, a figure stood under the sun’s rays, there silhouette familiar. His heart skipped a beat.

’Alex? What’s wrong?’

He didn’t respond, eyes fixed on the person ahead.
