Chapter 130: The Monster You Created (2)
Thutmose stepped into the room.
The thick air of authority weighed down on him the moment the door sealed shut behind him. The chamber, vast and still, echoed faintly with the hum of power that pulsed from its walls.
At the far end stood the earth-forged throne, carved from a single mountain stone, veins of mana glowing softly across its surface like lifeblood. It was a relic of command—of legacy—and now, it belonged to him.
But Thutmose’s heart beat faster for another reason.
Above the throne hovered three transparent screens, large and shimmering, projected midair. It was linked to the global network used only for high-level communications—ones that only the highest of powers had access to. And right now, they display three figures.
Each one held the weight of the world.
On the left, a regal woman with shimmering blue hair and frost-laced eyes sat composed yet commanding. Her beauty was ageless, but her reputation was far from gentle.
Livia Salacia, Matriarch of the Water Clan—the Ice Queen.
On the right, a man clad in sea-green robes adorned with feathered accents, his pale blonde hair shifting in a gentle wind that wasn’t there. His eyes were like twin gales—calm on the surface, deadly beneath.
Cassius Aeolus, Patriarch of the Wind Clan—the Wind Knight.
And in the center, flame-kissed crimson robes danced subtly with embers, as if the fire within him never truly slept. His eyes glowed amber, and the lazy smile on his face was anything but warm.
Liè Yàn, Patriarch of the Fire Clan—the Flame Inferno.
Just as Thutmose’s lips parted to greet them, Livia’s voice cut through the chamber like a shard of ice.
"You’ve got nerve, making us wait this long, boy. Do you think we’re here for leisure?"
Her frown etched lines across her otherwise flawless face, and her glacial tone made the mana in the air dip slightly in temperature.
Before the tension could thicken, Liè chuckled lazily, leaning back in his chair.
"Come now, Livia. Show the kid a little sympathy. He just lost his father."
Though his words were smooth, Thutmose knew better. That smile wasn’t kindness—it was calculation.
Cassius remained silent, his gaze sharp, unreadable. Watching. Waiting.
"Hmm, Khepri was the weakest among us, so it wasn’t surprising that he kicked the bucket first. However, I want to know who caused it, as I’m sure that you all know it wasn’t that Thunder Wolf," said Livia as disdain could be felt in her voice.
Then Liè’s amber eyes locked onto Thutmose.
"So, boy... now that you’re here—"
His voice deepened.
"—Tell us what really happened to your father."
All three Legend-ranked beings stared at him now. Even through a screen, the pressure was suffocating. It wrapped around his chest like a vice.
Thutmose swallowed hard.
Then, slowly... he drew in a breath, forcing his pulse to settle. He could not afford to break—not here, not now.
And then, he began to speak.
It took Thutmose over an hour to recount everything.
From the moment the beast tide began, to Khepri’s final battle with the Alex, to the brutal end of the royal family, and finally... to him. The boy who should never have survived. The boy was now walking freely, with Nyxara, a Legend-rank beast, at his side.
Throughout it all, the three on-screen said nothing—no questions, no interruptions. Just silence and expressions that grew darker with every detail. When Thutmose finally stopped, his throat dry and posture tense, the room again fell into oppressive quiet.
Nearly another hour passed.
Still, they said nothing.
Just furrowed brows and eyes lost in dangerous thought.
Then, finally, Liè Yàn spoke, his voice stripped of its usual humor.
"That’s... truly surprising," he muttered. "I never thought that boy would survive."
His gaze shifted, piercing and sharp, toward Cassius Aeolus.
"Weren’t you the one in charge of ensuring no survivors?"
Cassius’ eyes narrowed, the winds around his projection briefly swirling with agitation.
"Do you think I would’ve let him live if I’d seen him?" he said coolly. "Don’t forget—he wasn’t even present when your dogs attacked the estate. So don’t point that finger at me."
Liè’s lips parted, ready to retort, but before the fire could catch—Livia Salacia’s voice cut in like a blade across frost.
"Enough," she snapped. Her icy tone froze the rising tension.
"Now is not the time to toss blame around like children. We have a boy who’s not only reached Grandmaster rank but also killed a Legend-rank at that rank. And worse—he’s allied with another Legend-rank."
Her cold gaze swept across them both.
"We all heard what he did. You still think this is about saving face? He could be at any of our doors next."
Silence.
time, neither Liè nor Cassius replied.
Because she was right.
They each had questions of their own to ask Thutmose, but now was not the time.
They all felt it. That uneasy breath in the air. That subtle shiver in their bones.
The way every second dragged like it might be their last.
And with nothing more to say, the call was cut.
One by one, the screens flickered out. The throne room dimmed slightly as the shimmering projections vanished, and Thutmose was left alone in the towering chamber.
For a long moment, he didn’t move.
He stared at the throne—his throne—but one he had yet to truly sit upon.
It called to him with power... and burden.
Then he turned.
The massive stone doors at the entrance creaked open of their own accord.
He walked slowly, boots echoing through the chamber.
But just as he reached the threshold, he stopped.
Turning his head, he looked back—back at the empty throne, the fading light, and the room that had just held the echoes of legends.
His voice was low, but the words struck like stone.
"Now you will all be hunted... by the very monsters you created."
With that, he stepped through.
And the doors closed behind him—not with a slam, but with a quiet, final thud...
Like the closing of a coffin.
