Chapter 113: Another Tide

Chapter 113: Another Tide

Earth Domain — Minutes Before the Final Clash between Alex and Khepri.

Across the Earth Domain, chaos surged like blood through ruptured veins. Shockwaves rolled outward from the battle between Alex and Khepri—each collision of law-forged might sending deep vibrations through the land, cracking ancient stone, splitting the air with thunderous echoes.

The tremors reverberated far and wide, yet the human-inhabited regions of the continent were mostly spared.

But the beasts were not so fortunate.

The battle had erupted in the far wilds—territory once claimed by the fabled Thunder Wolf, a legend among magical beasts. Its death had left a scar upon the land, and now that very scar pulsed with new madness. The surge of energy unleashed by the ongoing clash had awakened what remained of the beast hordes.

And so, it began again.

A second beast tide.

Only this time, it was different.

There were no millions.

There were no overflowing waves of bloodlust.

What advanced now was a shadow of the former tide, no more than twenty thousand, mostly Advance-ranked and below. Only a sparse few hundred bore the crushing aura of knight and King/Queen-rank strength, as even the Emperor/Empress rank beasts were not present. The slaughter from the previous tide had hollowed the continent’s beast population. Even in their rage and instinctual fury, nature had not yet replenished its armies.

Still, it was enough to demand vigilance.

As all the cities along the border between the beast side of the continent and the human side prepared for battle, alarms rang out, signaling an impending conflict. Defensive arrays began to glow, and elemental towers rumbled to life. Warriors of the Lesser and Intermediate Clans emerged to defend their cities, their faces set with resolve and confusion.

The Earth Clan braced itself for the impending crisis, fully aware of the gravity of the situation. Thutmose, their leader, wasted no time; he swiftly reached out to the other clans, conveying the dire circumstances they faced.

It became clear after that artifacts had enabled communication between cities across the continent, allowing for a rapid exchange of vital information in these tumultuous times.

The urgency of his message echoed the resolve of the Earth Clan as they prepared to rally the other clans for the impending battle and confront the challenges ahead.

Civilians were quickly moved to the underground bunkers sealed beneath reinforced mana barriers, large enough to accommodate entire cities. Families, children, and the vulnerable huddled together in flickering sanctuaries of light, while the warriors above prepared for what might come next.

Above them, the sky cracked faintly with golden light from the distant battle.

And yet, none knew what was truly happening.

First, communication had dropped—no explanation, just sudden silence. Then came the beast tide, smaller but no less ominous. Now they stood, armored and uncertain, watching the dust cloud rise on the horizon as another swarm of beasts advanced.

The Geb Fortress.

Once a thriving epicenter of power and administration, its streets now lay empty, its towers still, and its bustling marketplaces abandoned.

The Earth Clan had learned to evacuate swiftly, and every civilian had been ushered into the deep, rune-engraved bunkers buried beneath the Earth. Bunkers were designed in an age where peace was an illusion and foresight was the only form of survival.

In the very core of the fortress, silence reigned supreme, the only sound the haunting whisper of the wind swirling through the empty halls. The center of the Higher clan, once a vibrant hub of activity, now lay desolate and cavernous.

The grand structures, with their imposing stone facades, stood as mere shells, stripped of life and purpose. The Higher clan’s center was hollowed out, its elite force deployed far from home.

Thutmose had made the call himself.

Southward, toward the fractured land where Sudan now straddled two realms: one human, one beast. The once-unified land had become a volatile frontier—its northern half tethered to humanity’s reach, its southern half swallowed by the creeping influence of the Beast Domain.

It was here where oversight had faltered, and some lesser clans had once stood guard. But that clans were no more. Their ruins still smoldered in the sands, memories of the last tide that surged without warning.

Now, Thutmose refused to repeat the same mistake.

Dozens of airships—great steel vessels powered by earth-embedded mana cores and rune-tech propulsion—pierced the skies above the Nile-born winds. Being transported where the finest of the Earth Clan’s warriors: cloaked in armor, shields etched with the runes, and weapons humming with buried elemental force.

They weren’t alone. Alongside them stood the lesser clans ’ retainers.

But their expressions were grim.

The air between them was tense, from fatigue and fear. In less than three months, the Earth Domain had endured devastation beyond comprehension. Beast tides. Vanishing communication..... another surge, another unknown, and another war.

Still, there was no room for complaints. No time for grief.

Because the beasts were already upon them, the moment they landed.

The very land groaned beneath the weight of the enemy. Sand kicked up in every direction. Mana in the air grew thin and wild as the scent of blood began to return. Dozens—hundreds—of magical beasts emerged over the dunes. Not the endless swarm of last time, but a surge fierce enough to demand full attention.

From the towering ramparts built along the border, elemental towers whirred to life. Bombardment arrays powered by mana surged with deafening pulses. Bolts of sharpened earth and bursts of fire rained down in arcs of destructive precision, ripping through the first waves of beasts like thunder tearing through silence.

The Earth Clan elites moved in first, their formations fluid, unwavering.

Their earth mastery flowed into the terrain, turning earth into solid platforms, spikes, walls—anything to hold back the tide. The lesser clan warriors followed behind, flanking, supporting, filling gaps. The formation was tight, practiced. But even still, each warrior felt like—this wasn’t the real threat.

As the question lingered in their mind, curiosity gnawed at them more intensely: what was unfolding across the vast expanse of the continent?
