Chapter 107: Final Clash (4)

The moment Khepri leapt from the shoulder of the archer-giant, the very air seemed to shift.

Khepri moved like a streak of brownish light—not fast in the way Alex was fast, but with a gravitational inevitability, like a planet aligning its orbit. He ran effortlessly along the body of the archer-giant, whose massive limbs shifted beneath him without shaking his balance. The law of life-force drain that clung to their stone skin meant nothing to him. He was their creator. The sculptor. The law-bearer. Their essence recognized him as the origin.

And now, he was their sword.

From within the storage space, he drew his weapon at last—his massive double-headed Khopesh.

Mana erupted around him, dancing like golden fireflies before coalescing into something far more structured. Runes etched into the air followed in his wake, forming sigils of protection, tracking, and binding. The terrain obeyed his presence, rising or splitting with every step he took.

Below, Alex was already mid-air—his cloak shredded in several places, blood on his shoulder and thigh from a previous near-miss, but his expression remained calm. Focused. His body glowed with barely restrained lightning. With a downward thrust of his foot, he created a small thunder platform beneath him and launched forward, his blade sparking to life with concentrated killing intent.

He twisted mid-air, a golden arc flashing forward—aimed straight for the shield giant’s chest, toward the core he had nearly exposed.

But before his blade could connect—

Clang!

Khepri appeared in front of the core, the shaft of his Khopesh intercepting Alex’s attack with a resounding clash that shattered the surrounding air like glass. The force of the impact knocked both combatants back—Alex flipping and rebounding on a bolt of thunder, Khepri sliding back effortlessly along the curved surface of the shield giant’s shoulder.

Then he was on the greatsword wielder, a blur of motion as he ran up the spine of the colossal warrior. Alex surged toward the giant again, but Khepri jumped sideways, catching a strike that would’ve pierced the greatsword giant’s core from beneath. This time, he didn’t just block—he retaliated.

A crescent wave of stone-blade energy erupted from his swing, chasing Alex down. Alex dodged, his boots skimming across a mid-air thunder platform, but the energy curved unnaturally mid-flight, like it was bound to his mana.

Alex snarled, then twisted and slammed his blade forward. A compressed bolt of thunder exploded from his blade, detonating the wave with a thunderous boom. The shockwave sent dust and chunks of stone flying in all directions, blinding the field for a brief moment.

But even in the chaos, both sides moved with precision.

The axe-wielding giant came in with a horizontal sweep so powerful it cleaved the entire cliff wall behind Alex into rubble. Alex ducked and slid beneath the swing, lightning forming along his back to reduce friction. He slashed upward at the axe giant’s thigh—but once again, Khepri landed on the axe itself, flipping forward and redirecting the angle of Alex’s strike with the butt of his glaive.

"You learn fast," Khepri called, calm but amused. "But you’re not the only one who adapts."

Alex gritted his teeth, spinning away and launching himself upward toward the archer-giant, who had been charging another shot. The glowing core on its chest burned brighter. The arrow, twice the size of a horse, formed entirely of condensed mana and stone, aimed squarely at him.

But Alex didn’t retreat. Instead, he disappeared in a burst of thunder, reappearing directly in front of the arrow mid-flight, slamming both palms into it and releasing an internal surge of unstable lightning. The resulting explosion tore the arrow apart in the air, sending sparks and shrapnel in every direction—but the impact hurled him backward.

And waiting for him in the air was—

Khepri.

The sovereign of Earth spun in midair, his Khopesh arcing with gravitational pull, creating a swirling vortex of golden mana behind it. He struck.

Alex barely raised his blade in time.

The force of the clash shattered the thunder platform he had summoned, sending both combatants crashing down to the battlefield below, kicking up debris for dozens of meters.

Boom!

A crater formed from the collision. Dust and crushed stone rose into a pillar.

But from within the swirling storm, Alex leapt out first, lightning wrapping around his body as Limit Break was still in effect. Blood trickled from his lip, but his eyes burned like suns.

And behind him, Khepri rose, floating calmly above the ground, his Khopesh hovering beside him as if held by an invisible force.

Yet, even with this advantage, Alex surged forward.

The tempo changed.

What had once been a test had become a dance of war, a blur of flickering light and clashing shadows. Alex darted from one giant to the next, looking for openings, driving toward each core like a hunter. He didn’t fight recklessly—he fought surgically.

But Khepri was always there.

A blink ahead of each strike. A parry. A redirect. A shield thrown from midair to intercept a lethal blow. A summoned spike of stone to knock Alex off course at the last second. He wasn’t overpowering Alex—he was stalling him, denying momentum, buying precious seconds for his creations to land their blows.

Still, Alex refused to back down.

At one point, he leapt through the space between the axe and greatsword giants, running along their arms, dragging his blade along their shoulders. Sparks flew. Chunks of stone cracked and fell. Lightning roared around him. He threw a condensed slash of lightning toward the archer, but Khepri intercepted it.

"You’re relentless," Khepri admitted aloud. "But so am I."

He raised his foot and slammed it into the ground. Immediately, the terrain responded.

Pillars of stone burst upward, attempting to impale or cage Alex from all sides. But Alex danced between them, thunderbolts chaining from his core to blow open a path. He spun through the air like a storm-god reborn and unleashed a thunder slash so powerful the archer giant’s entire upper chest fractured.

He didn’t stop to admire it.

He rushed forward, blade gleaming, but again, Khepri descended.

Clang!

Clash!

Boom!

Steel against stone. Lightning against Earth. Two forces, each fighting not for dominance—but for inevitability.

And in that eternal clash, neither side yielded.
