Return Of The Supreme Beast Tamer -
Chapter 124: A New Threat
Chapter 124: A New Threat
Phoenix settled back into the plush cushions of the couch, her intense gaze unwavering from Gabi.
"That is all," Gabi concluded, her voice echoing in the sudden silence, signaling the end of her detailed narrative.
"Hmm..." Phoenix hummed, a solitary eyebrow arching in contemplation.
Miguel, eager for her insight, broke the quiet. "Second Guardian! What are your thoughts?"
Phoenix shifted her gaze, sweeping it from Miguel, to Alex, then to Danzig, and finally back to Gabi.
"Why would the Golden Organization be after a dead beast’s weapon?" she posed, her tone edged with a subtle challenge.
The four exchanged bewildered glances, each shaking their head in a collective display of their ignorance.
"There are two primary reasons behind this," Phoenix began, her voice measured and deliberate. "First: These individuals either wish to forge a formidable new weapon from the scythe, or perhaps, simply to wield it themselves." She turned her attention back to Gabi. "You mentioned the man possessed the ability to wield the weapon."
"Yes," Gabi confirmed with a firm nod.
"Alright... This could very well be their primary motive."
"What about the second reason?" Alex pressed, his curiosity piqued.
A faint smirk played on Phoenix’s lips as she answered, "They intend to resurrect this Beast."
"....?!"
A stunned silence descended upon the group, their eyes widening in disbelief.
"And we won’t let that happen."
Suddenly, a commanding voice boomed from the doorway, cutting through the group’s shock.
The five turned their heads in unison, their eyes fixing on Commander Zenith, who was marching purposefully into the room, impeccably dressed in her crisp uniform.
"Commander Zenith."
Miguel, Alex, Gabi, and Danzig exclaimed, clearly surprised by her unexpected arrival.
Zenith stopped directly in front of Phoenix, offering a brief, respectful nod before she spoke. "The first reason isn’t their plan."
Phoenix crossed her legs, an air of calm defiance about her. "How do you know that?" she inquired.
"The Golden Organization already possesses an arsenal of exceptionally powerful weapons," Zenith explained, her tone grave. "I believe their true objective is the resurrection of Grim."
’Grim? Why does that name sound so familiar?’ Phoenix mused inwardly, her eyebrow subtly raised, as Zenith continued:
"We’ve just acquired some critical intel."
She raised her arm, tapping the wristwatch encircling her wrist.
A holographic image materialized in the air before the group, shimmering with intricate details.
"The Golden Organization undeniably poses a significant threat," Zenith stated, her gaze sweeping across the faces before her.
"But we’ve also encountered a more immediate ’pest,’ and this creature is currently heading directly towards Cordelia."
Phoenix straightened, her posture becoming rigid, her eyes riveted on the monstrous form depicted in the holographic image. It was a colossal black horse, its eyes glowing with an ominous crimson light. What truly seized her attention were the two massive horns protruding from its head, its skin appearing to be forged from unyielding steel, and two immense, leathery wings unfurling from its back.
"As you can all observe," Zenith’s voice resonated with a grim urgency, "this is a twenty-meter-tall horse beast, by far the largest creature we have ever encountered. This ’pest’ is making its way towards our city." She paused, allowing the gravity of her words to sink in.
"We are uncertain why it is taking its time, but if this abomination reaches Cordelia, countless lives will undoubtedly be lost." Her gaze settled pointedly on Phoenix.
"Alright... Why are you sharing this with us?" Phoenix asked, her posture relaxing back into the couch cushions, though her eyes remained alert.
"All Cordelia forces will soon be deployed, both the military and the Tamers," Zenith elaborated. "And we will also be enlisting some fresh blood from the Tamer Academy following the competition."
"So many forces? How strong is this beast?" Miguel asked, a note of apprehension in his voice.
"Its energy signature is beyond that of a Divine stage beast," Zenith answered, her voice somber. "Which means, it is either a Sky stage beast or potentially even higher... Its combat strength remains unknown." She added:
"I am informing you all of this because we will require everyone’s assistance." She then turned to Gabi.
"If you and your companions assist us, we will in turn help you contend with the Golden Organization."
"Wait." Alex interjected, his voice rising in a sudden outburst.
"Why am I only receiving this information now??" he demanded, his frustration evident.
"This beast is emerging from the west," Zenith replied calmly. "The Master of the West has been informed, and well... He asserted he could handle the beast alone."
"That bastard! He’s the weakest among the five of us; how could he possibly manage this alone?" Alex’s eyes fixed intently on Zenith.
"My beast and I will assist you. And try to ask Leon to help! A beast exceeding the Divine stage is a threat to everyone! Furthermore; this creature possesses the ability to fly... We will require all the aid we can possibly gather."
"Very well, Master Alex," Zenith acknowledged with a nod, then turned her attention to Phoenix, Miguel, Danzig, and Gabi.
"So... Are you all willing to help?"
"How long will it take for this beast to reach the city gate?" Phoenix inquired, rising gracefully to her feet.
"In a month," Zenith stated.
"A month? Really? I thought it would be a week," Phoenix muttered, shaking her head slightly. "I’m off."
Phoenix began to walk towards the door, with Miguel close behind.
"What about your answer?" Zenith called out, her voice laced with expectation.
"You will know in due time," Phoenix replied cryptically, stepping out of the room with Miguel following in her wake.
’Why does her life force and voice feel and sound so hauntingly familiar?’ Zenith pondered, a slight frown creasing her brow, before turning her attention to Gabi and Danzig.
"What about the two of you?"
The pair exchanged a meaningful look before nodding in unison. "Cordelia is our city, and we will do everything in our power to help," they declared.
"Thank you," Zenith said, her expression softening with gratitude. She then added, "I have other matters to attend to, so I will take my leave first."
The three nodded their heads in understanding, and Zenith exited the room.
"Take care... I’ll be back," Alex said, before also making his departure.
’This might be an opportunity in disguise.’ He thought, walking away.
