Chapter 113: Leyla VS Phoenix

With a swift, practiced maneuver, the phoenix banked sharply, dodging the projectile, its fiery form regaining equilibrium in the air, as the light around the object dissipated, it revealed a woman with long, flowing purple hair and piercing purple eyes. She was clad in a sleek black outfit that concealed her figure entirely, leaving only her head visible.

"Why are you?" Leyla asked, her frown deepening.

’What the... A peak stage Master Level?! Why is she attacking me?’

Alarm bells rang in Leyla’s mind.

"Why are you following Christopher?" Phoenix asked, her gaze unwavering.

’She is a master level, so flying is understandable, but... Why isn’t she scared? Diana is an Elite stage beast, and with my strength, we can still hold our ground. But... why is she asking about Christopher?’ Leyla’s thoughts raced.

"Why would I answer that?! I should be the one asking you the same?! Why are you stopping me?!" she retorted, her voice laced with defiance.

Leyla’s eyes widened in disbelief and a surge of fear. She frantically outstretched her hand towards the weakening shield, channeling every ounce of her energy into reinforcing it.

"Are you ready to answer my question? A second attack won’t be so light," Phoenix said calmly, using the air as solid ground as she walked towards Leyla, her movements graceful yet menacing.

"Why are you following Christopher?! Are you an assassin?!" Phoenix’s voice held a sharp edge.

"How dare you call me that?!"

A furious cry tore from Leyla’s throat. A dense, overwhelming wave of energy exploded outwards from her and Diana, instantly shattering the flaming sword into a shower of sparks and forcing Phoenix several feet backward.

"Hmm..." Phoenix’s gaze sharpened as she took at the two beasts now flanking Leyla: Diana, her flaming phoenix, and a massive red-scaled cobra, its eyes glowing with potent energy.

"You made me do this?!" Leyla’s voice was tight with fury. She pressed her hands together, her fingers moving in intricate patterns.

A brilliant light enveloped her two beasts.

’Huh? This girl isn’t simple? How could she know the ancient arts?’ Phoenix thought, her brow furrowing in surprise.

WHOOSH!

The cobra and the phoenix dissolved into streaks of pure light, flying towards Leyla and merging seamlessly into her body.

"AHHHH!!!!"

A raw scream ripped from Leyla’s throat as a colossal wave of life force erupted from her, radiating outwards in all directions with devastating power.

"This?!"

Phoenix reacted instantly, enveloping herself in a dense shield of her own life force just as the shockwave slammed into her, sending her hurtling downwards.

She landed on her feet in the middle of the road, the impact cracking the asphalt beneath her.

"What the fuck!" a driver exclaimed, slamming on his brakes, his car screeching to a halt. The cars behind him followed suit, drivers and passengers staring in stunned disbelief at the scene unfolding before them.

Phoenix looked up at Leyla, her expression now serious.

"I will kill anyone who dares harm my friend," Leyla declared, her voice cold and devoid of emotion, her eyes now a terrifying crimson and black, fixed on Phoenix.

"Combining your two beasts moved your power from a mere expert level to that of a lower master level... But?"

Phoenix’s purple eyes blazed pure red, and an even denser wave of life force erupted from her, pushing the surrounding cars backwards as if they were toys.

"Run!!!"

"Tamers battling! Run!!"

"Call Tamer enterprise! Fast!!"

Panic erupted. Drivers abandoned their vehicles, scrambling away from the unfolding conflict.

Whizzed!!

Leyla flicked her wrist, and a gleaming sword materialized in her hand, pulsing with a faint, ominous light.

"So cute," Phoenix scoffed, a dangerous smile playing on her lips. She summoned her own sword, instantly engulfing it in raging flames.

"I don’t know how you learned that skill, but I won’t let you complete your goal," Phoenix stated, her voice dangerously calm. With a deafening sonic boom, she lunged towards Leyla.

"Same!!" Leyla roared, meeting Phoenix’s charge head-on.

Their swords clashed with a deafening clang, sending shockwaves rippling across the road, cracks spreading like spiderwebs across the asphalt.

Leyla fought with a ferocity born of protectiveness, unleashing the full extent of her enhanced power, each strike aimed with lethal intent.

"That punch should have dislocated your jaw... I am impressed," Phoenix said with a smirk, raising her flaming sword high above her head. "I will have to end this then... Any assassin or spies against my Boss will have to die!"

A tremendous amount of life force surged from Phoenix’s body into her sword. With a swift, downward slash, she unleashed a devastating blade of pure energy towards Leyla.

"This?" Leyla gasped, stunned as the attack materialized before her in the blink of an eye.

"I can’t lose!" With a desperate cry, she activated every defensive ability she possessed, raising her sword in a futile attempt to block the inevitable.
