Chapter 425 - Chapter 425 Chapter 423 The Scent of His Perfume
Chapter 425: Chapter 423: The Scent of His Perfume Chapter 425: Chapter 423: The Scent of His Perfume The music from the DJ in the bar’s dance floor was deafening, and the surrounding voices were incredibly hyped.
However, over by the bar, there was complete silence.
Yanxi looked at the beautiful visage of the woman close at hand, his body stiffening.
The woman’s moist lips held a slender cigarette, its ember transferring a flickering fire to the tip of his own cigarette.
He watched silently as the slender tip of the cigarette was consumed by the glowing fire.
The woman’s long lashes fluttered gently, like the wings of a butterfly.
Time seemed to stand still in this moment.
As Yanxi was looking at Shi Ying, she was also looking at him.
The man under the lighting was stunningly handsome, with peach blossom eyes alluring and profound, and a nose bridge that seemed unattainable…
This was the first time they were so close, close enough to clearly feel each other’s breath.
Shi Ying’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and ripples seemed to flow in the depths of her eyes.
In those eyes, Yanxi saw a hint of vulnerability and hesitation.
The slender cigarette tip had been lit, and Yanxi seemed to think of something; he immediately moved away, biting on his cigarette.
Taking a puff, he avoided Shi Ying’s gaze and said, “Sister Shi Ying, Fourth Brother just lost his sense for a moment, he won’t give up on you.”
Shi Ying lowered her lashes, “Ah Ting won’t care about me anymore…”
Seeing the loss and daze on Shi Ying’s face, Yanxi frowned deeply and sighed, “After all is said and done, it’s Gong Yu who’s caused all the trouble. Sister Shi Ying, I’ll find the best psychologist for you. From now on, don’t believe anything that Gong Yu says!”
Shi Ying nodded lightly.
…
Xia Yiwan worked overtime and didn’t return to the Yan Family home until after ten at night.
As soon as she got back, Mother Yan served her a bowl of Bird’s Nest Soup.
“Wanwan, have you been very busy lately? You seem to have lost weight again. Did that damn Yanxi bully you?”
Receiving the Bird’s Nest Soup from Mother Yan, Yiwan felt a warmth in her heart, “Mom, Yanxi has been fine lately. But you, don’t wait up for me to come home!”
Whenever she worked late, no matter how late it was, Mother Yan would always wait for her to return.
A lamp was always kept on in the house for her.
This made Xia Yiwan feel incredibly warm.
“Mom’s fine; as I’ve gotten older, I can’t sleep well.” Looking at Xia Yiwan’s pretty and lively face, Mother Yan grew fonder the more she looked, but at the same time, she felt a faint worry in her heart.
She had recently heard that that woman had come back.
She feared that Yanxi would act foolishly, forgetting his status as a married man, and go back to being that woman’s fallback guy!
“Wanwan, how’s it going with you and Yanxi trying for a baby?”
Hearing Mother Yan ask this, Xia Yiwan’s face flushed with embarrassment.
“Mom, why would you ask something like that?”
Mother Yan’s face revealed a doting smile, “Little girl, you’re getting shy!”
But Mother Yan was clear in her heart that having a child was a matter of fate, and it was best to let nature take its course.
“Take it slowly, you and Yanxi are both young; you’ll conceive quickly enough.”
Xia Yiwan bowed her head to drink her Bird’s Nest Soup, too embarrassed to say anything more.
After finishing the Bird’s Nest Soup, Xia Yiwan took a bath upstairs.
Sitting at the vanity to take care of her skin, she glanced at her phone.
Nearly midnight, and Yanxi had not yet returned?
Ever since the last time he hadn’t made it to her mother’s birthday lunch and they had quarreled, he had been behaving quite well lately.
Coming home on time every day, and taking her out for dates whenever he was free on weekends.
It had actually let her experience the taste of being in love.
Xia Yiwan tapped on her phone and found Yanxi’s WeChat.
Just as she was about to send him a message, she heard the sound of a car engine from downstairs.
Xia Yiwan walked to the window and saw that Yanxi had come back.
He seemed to have had quite a bit to drink, as the driver was helping him out of the car.
Yiwan walked to the door, and after a short while, the driver came up helping Yanxi.
“Ma’am.”
Xia Yiwan nodded slightly, “Thank you for your hard work, hand it over to me!”
Xia Yiwan supported Yanxi into the bedroom.
Looking at his utterly drunken state, Xia Yiwan frowned, “Why did you drink so much?”
Yanxi didn’t make a sound.
Xia Yiwan helped him to the bed.
She prepared to go to the bathroom to fetch a basin of water to wipe him down, but just as she got up, her wrist was caught by him.
She was pulled into his arms.
Her nose bumped into his solid and hard chest, causing Xia Yiwan to inhale sharply in pain.
But before the pain subsided, she froze the next second.
Beyond the smell of tobacco and alcohol on Yanxi’s body, there was also a very faint scent.
The fragrance of a woman.
“Wanwan, I want to take a shower…”
Xia Yiwan looked at the man with half-closed peach blossom eyes, his gaze hazy with drunkenness, and forcefully struggled out of his embrace, “If you want to shower, go do it yourself!”
She turned away, refusing to look at him again.
Yanxi staggered into the bathroom.
Xia Yiwan lay on the bed, wrapped in the blanket, staring blankly at the ceiling, her eyes feeling sour.
Her feelings for Yanxi seemed to grow deeper and more uncontrollable.
Whenever he acted even slightly amiss, she would feel suffocated and uncomfortable.
She was terrified that he would do something to betray her!
About twenty minutes later, the man came out of the bathroom wearing gray pants; his upper body was bare. He lied down directly into the blankets.
He reached out instinctively to embrace Xia Yiwan.
But Xia Yiwan didn’t let him, pushing his hand away.
Due to his drunkenness, his head felt heavy. Yanxi didn’t touch Xia Yiwan again, resting his handsome face on her back and quickly falling asleep.
He slept like a log, while Xia Yiwan didn’t feel the slightest bit sleepy.
Thinking of something, she threw off the blanket, got out of bed, and walked into the bathroom.
Taking Yanxi’s discarded shirt from the laundry, she examined it closely.
Sometimes, she really disliked her own sixth sense.
It often proved to be quite accurate.
On a corner of his shirt collar, she found a very faint lipstick mark.
Xia Yiwan stared fixedly at the lipstick stain, her eyes not blinking until her nostrils started to tingle and a wave of heat rushed to her eyes.
She leaned her head back quickly to force the tears threatening to spill back.
She gripped the man’s shirt tightly, her body shaking uncontrollably.
The next day.
Yanxi woke up with a splitting headache.
He instinctively stretched out his hand to embrace the woman beside him, “Wanwan…”
But he ended up grasping at air.
Lifting his eyelids, he saw the woman sitting on the bed, who had been awake for who knows how long. Yanxi narrowed his peach blossom eyes, “It’s still early, why didn’t you sleep more?”
On a closer look, he saw that she was holding a shirt in her hands.
It seemed to be the one he had been wearing the day before.
His gaze shifted to her face. The ordinarily cheerful and smiling countenance was now tensely strained, quite serious, and there was a faint hint of anger in her eyes and brows.
Yanxi sat up from the bed; he was shirtless, his chest firm and muscled, perfect six-pack abs, all proportionate, leading down to a sexually appealing adonis belt.
Xia Yiwan, however, was not in the mood to appreciate it.
She tossed the shirt she was holding onto his body, “Perfume, lipstick mark, Yanxi, you were with another woman last night, you said you wanted to have a good life with me, is this your idea of a good life?”
Yanxi, seeing the lipstick mark on the collar of the shirt, slightly furrowed his brow.
