Reincarnation Of The Strongest Spirit Master
Chapter 82 - 82: Elder Gran

All William knew about Long's clan grand patriarch were just rumours about his strength and reputation. William knew he had to meet the man himself to know, so he simply followed the elder towards the clan's base.

"By the way, did you see my beloved Berry recently?" the elder asked, before adding, "I heard a disturbing news about her going ill or something. So I ran back to check on her, and learned just half a day ago about her getting better."

"Well…" William touched his nose, not knowing if he should say what he did and knew about Berry or not, "I also heard she is getting a lot better now."

"That's great," the elder was very easy to deal with, not like how Ary said before. William kept smiling, chatting with the elder, while moving towards the clan.

From the side, Ary was feeling more shocked and disbelieving. He didn't know why this elder was acting this nice with William. He always knew how bad it was to try and trespass over the Long clan's base and lands without permission.

Ary didn't get it, but the reason behind such a carefree attitude was the curiosity this elder had towards William. It was indeed true that the Long folks would act a bit hostile to any stranger coming into their lands, but that was in the case if that master was strong enough to pose a threat towards them.

In the elder's eyes, William was just a porter, someone who wouldn't pose any threat at all towards anyone. That wasn't all, William also should have stayed silent while Ary handled all the talk. But that didn't happen.

In fact, he felt like William was the master and Ary was the porter or something. Not to mention the excuse William brought up was quite funny.

His grand uncle send for a porter to come here all the way back from the academy? It wasn't as if porters didn't exist in the Long clan, not as if his uncle would need anything and wouldn't find hundreds or even thousands of arms volunteering to help.

So the elder saw in all this some sort of amusement situation, and decided to see it through to the end.

"Just a bit of warning," the elder tried to see through the porter in front of him, "my great grandfather has a temper. So if you did something wrong or something, then summoning you here will be bad news for you."

"Thanks, senior, but I didn't do anything wrong," William didn't even tremble or flinch, or even show a tinge of fear over his face. Such fine details never missed the keen eyes of such a formidable spirit master.

That made that spirit master wonder, what happened to this world while he was away training?

In the eyes of that elder, a porter was standing in front of him without even getting his legs shaking like it was supposed to happen.

That simply added more to the mysterious image of William in that elder's eyes. And so he remained silent, leading William and others into the clan's lands.

"Welcome back, elder Gran."

"Welcome back, elder."

Just as William and the group moved towards the main gate of the Long clan residence, they were welcomed with different groups of spirit masters.

Each group was formed of ten spirit masters at least, looking like they were doing patrolling tasks.

Once they spotted them, they looked vigilant first before noticing their elder. They all stopped and greeted the elder in such respect, making William smile after they passed the gate.

"It seems the elder has a good reputation inside the Long clan."

"I just did little things from time to time," the elder called Gran laughed, before turning his eyes towards Ary, "I can't help but notice that you never spoke or said anything at all. Aren't you his master? Why aren't you saying something, letting him do all the talk for you?"

"Elder, he isn't a porter… And I'm not his master," Ary stole a gaze at William, to feel the latter didn't want him to unravel too much about his identity in front of this elder.

"Not a porter? Not his master? What a weird bunch of a group you are!" Gran shook his head while smiling in amusement, "this is by far the weirdest group I saw in the past few years at least. Even when I was outside training, I never met such a weird bunch of masters."

"Elder was training outside?" William got from his words this clue, "or just doing a mission for the clan?"

"You… Are you this tired of living? If I told you, you'll have to die, do you know that?" Gran couldn't help but be taken aback for a moment there, before teasing this kid in front of him.

Above all, he wasn't indeed lying. Trying to ask about such things was considered like asking about clan's matters and secrets. But that also made him notice another surprising little detail; William's carefree attitude.

In the clan, even in the academy, not many could speak to him in such a carefree way.

The more Gran looked at William, the more he felt puzzled and amused.

"So you were out there training," William nodded, and his remark didn't get Gran to say anything. "I want to hear about elder's opinion about porters."

"About what?!!" Gran was feeling like this might be his grandfather's way to welcome his return after going out for a long time. He might have been called this porter because he had a strong will and unique way in talking or something, being amusing to speak with. In Gran's eyes, this might be a real possibility, considering that his grandfather might have needed help from this porter or something.

In the middle of such unrealistic and funny thoughts, William asked such a weird question.

"About us, porters. I know we are the lowest in the entire spirit master society. But I'm curious about the elder's opinion about people like me."
