Reincarnated as the Vampire Princess' Familiar -
Chapter 53 - 7 - That nun... she’s actually a nun!
Chapter 53: 7 - That nun... she’s actually a nun!
I consider it a stroke of luck that Ginevra is spending the entire day at the wellness center with Ayra—otherwise, convincing her to train with us would’ve been nearly impossible.
I, Gerard, and Luke—unfortunately, he’s now a permanent fixture in our little group—are in the vast royal garden, under the ’tender’ care of little Levreshka. And... we’re not alone.
It seems Roxy has taken a special liking to us. This morning, she asked if she could train with us, and of course, we were happy to have her—hoping that wicked pink-haired midget wouldn’t scare her off.
«You all look like exceptional fighters! I’m sure I’ll learn a lot by training with you!» she exclaims with overwhelming enthusiasm, hopping with excitement—and her massive boobs bounce along with her.
«And now who might this one be...?» Levreshka murmurs, scanning Roxy from head to toe. «The noble castle of the Valakys family is crawling with far too many humans for my taste. In my great-grandfather’s time, familiars couldn’t even glimpse this place, and now you roam it like home! There’s no respect left for vampires anymore!»
«Come on, don’t be so harsh. Love your neighbor as yourself. Only then can you find true happiness,» Roxy replies in an unusually... normal voice—no weird coos or completely out-of-place moans this time.
Levreshka gives us a puzzled look. «And where did you pick up this holy woman...?», she asks, but a moment later, her face twists in anger. «How dare you preach love and happiness to me?! Being contradicted by a mere human is an insult I won’t tolerate!»
The Sanguis energy in the little vampire’s hand stretches and takes shape—forming her usual crimson whip.
What is she trying to do?! Even if she’s barely more than a child, she should know it’s forbidden to harm someone else’s familiar!
«Unfortunately, the law prevents me from punishing you personally for this offense...»
Ah, right—thank goodness...
«...so my stupid familiar will do it in my place! Gerard, for once in your useless life, defend your mistress’s honor and teach this insolent woman a lesson!»
W-What...?!
«B-But, mistress... Roxy has only been here for two days... Besides, last night she told us she hasn’t even awakened her Vis energy yet. It would be like fighting a completely normal woman—I could seriously hurt her, or worse...»
Gerard’s kind and submissive pleas have no effect whatsoever—if anything, they backfire. «Even better! Maybe you’ve finally found someone you’re actually capable of beating!»
His will doesn’t waver. «I’d rather take a thousand lashes than raise my hand without reason against someone who can’t defend themselves—especially if it’s a woman,» he says with a firm voice.
I’ve never seen him disobey Levreshka with such determination—in fact, I’ve never seen him disobey her at all. It seems Roxy has awakened a new Gerard—a true gentleman, braver and less submissive to that pink-haired devil.
«Don’t worry about me, my dear Gerard. I’m sure God will give me the strength to endure this punishment—yet another trial of my faith. Don’t fear for my safety,» the woman says, instantly halting Levreshka’s rage.
«B-But... are you sure? I don’t think you understand the scale of the forces at play. Vis energy, once awakened, boosts the user’s strength by tens—even hundreds—of times,» Gerard warns.
Roxy shakes her head, firm in her decision. «I told you not to worry. I’ve devoted my life to God—He’ll protect me.»
Oh heavens... now, all of a sudden, the nun... actually does seem like a nun!
«I’ll try to go as gently as possible...», Gerard sighs with resignation. Without even channeling his Vis energy, he walks slowly toward the woman, not even pulling back his fist. A slow, limp punch aimed at her shoulder, when—
—WOOOM!
A burst of blinding light explodes from Roxy’s body, so intense that we have to shield our eyes—our eyelids alone can’t filter that dazzling glow.
As the light fades and we open our eyes again, it takes a few moments for us to process what just happened. Roxy stands in the same spot, head bowed, hands clasped in prayer. But that’s not the strange part; a halo of undefinable color—shifting with all the hues of the rainbow—surrounds her, giving birth to something heavenly, almost divine, that leaves us all speechless—especially Levreshka.
Reflections of that impossible light make it look like angelic wings are stretching from Roxy’s back, and a similar glow above her head forms something like a halo.
It must be yet another extraordinary power—one that, obviously, only Clotilde knows about. Why is she never around when we need her?
Gerard, instead, is lying on the ground, thrown far away. Yet there’s not a single scratch on him, and he seems perfectly conscious—as if that sudden, unexplainable blast from Roxy only pushed him back without causing any real harm.
Gerard gets back on his feet, more surprised than hurt, and stares at the woman as if he’s standing before the manifestation of a deity.
«And what kind of joke is this supposed to be?!» Levreshka bursts out. On her face, beyond the anger, there’s a clear trace of concern—almost anguish—as she takes a couple of steps back from the angelic woman.
«It’s the power God grants to those who choose to dedicate their lives to Him. The DivineLight
,» Roxy answers calmly. As she separates her hands, the multicolored glow around her vanishes instantly.«I don’t know what that is, but... Gerard, learn from this witch how to use that so-called DivineLight. That’s an order! The BloodGame will resume soon, and by then I expect you to master it perfectly!» Levreshka orders—though it sounds more like a spoiled child’s whim.
«The BloodGame is that barbaric practice where you force humans to fight each other, isn’t it?» Roxy says. «I’m sorry to disappoint you, but as you’ve seen, the DivineLight can’t harm other human beings. After all, God would never allow His gift to be used to hurt His own children.»
«I-It doesn’t matter! Just teach him!»
A power like that can’t hurt other humans, but it’s clearly effective against the creatures of this world—demons, lycans... even vampires! It’s totally useless during the BloodGame, but if something like last month’s tragedy were to happen again...
«I’d like to learn how to use the DivineLight too!» I say with determination, and right after me, Luke also expresses his desire to learn it.
A wide smile spreads across the woman’s face. «I’m truly thrilled that you all wish to be embraced by God’s infinite goodness...»
To be honest, I’m only interested in learning how to use that extraordinary power...
«...but it’s a gift our beloved Father has reserved only for those who’ve chosen to consecrate to Him their soul... and their body.»
«In other words... you have to be a virgin to use it?!» Luke exclaims, visibly shocked.
A wave of disbelief and surprise hits me too: if the DivineLight can only be used by those who are still virgins—and Roxy can use it... then that’s absurd! That nun... she’s actually a nun!
«It’s the reward for devotion to God—proven through the purity of one’s body. So yes, only those who have kept their chastity intact can aspire to such power,» Roxy concludes, leaving me and Luke visibly disappointed... but not Gerard, who stands with determination.
«I’ve also kept my virginity intact!» he declares with a pride that totally clashes with his statement—considering he’s over thirty and has been in this world only a little longer than I have.
«I really picked a loser as my familiar...» Levreshka mutters, shaking her head in disappointment.
«I beg you, Roxy. Teach me everything you know! Let my chastity finally be rewarded!» Gerard pleads, almost bowing before the nun.
«Your decision to keep your purity intact until this age is undoubtedly a great proof of faith...»
I think it was more of a choice made by others, especially considering that until yesterday evening he would’ve jumped on Roxy like a gorilla in heat.
«...and for that, I gladly agree to make you a bearer of God’s light!»
Suddenly, Levreshka starts hopping with joy. «Finally, your ugliness is useful for something!»
«Roxy, I want to challenge you too!» I declare with curiosity, eager to test my theory.
She simply nods in agreement, and immediately the purple energy of Visanguis bursts from my body at full power, also generating the blood-colored sword through Telum.
«Are you crazy?! You’ll kill her like that!» Luke bursts out, but I ignore him.
«I doubt it...»
I dash forward, lightning-fast toward her, my sword raised, ready to strike.
Then, that indescribable light again.
My blade, a few centimeters from her, dissolves instantly—no, it seems to evaporate directly—as soon as it touches that divine glow, throwing me to the ground an instant later.
What a... strange sensation. A cold light, yet I clearly feel an almost unbearable heat in my hands just before the sword disappears. This is the confirmation we were looking for—my body comes out unharmed... but the weapon created by the BloodWord disintegrates like sand in the wind. It truly is a strange magic capable of annihilating Sanguis energy... damn it, if only I had kept my dick in check, I could wield that power by now!
