Chapter 34: 33 - Levreshka’s frightening dollhouse
Seven days have slipped by since that fateful night—the night Ayra embarked on her grueling training with Clotilde to master her Innatus—yet, not a single word has reached me about my mistress.
As if things weren’t already unbearable, Clotilde has been unrelentingly strict, forbidding me from witnessing the training she was putting her sister through. In her words, I would only be a hindrance, and considering the peculiar bond I share with Ayra, it would be best for my mental and emotional well-being if I remained unaware of what she intended to do to her. Every time those words resurface in my mind, an involuntary shudder runs down my spine.
And yet, that wasn’t even what disturbed me the most. No, the words that truly unsettled me came just before she ordered one of her men to drag me back to the dormitory: «For the next seven days, none of you are to disturb me for any reason, under any circumstances. Not even when that matter arises—you’ll handle it on your own, just as you always have. Am I clear?!»
That matter...? What could she have meant? The question has plagued my mind relentlessly, but every attempt to gather information has been in vain. The familiars in my dormitory know nothing—though they did mention sensing an unusual anxiety in their masters—while Sasha and Daphne, despite my certainty that they are aware of something, have skillfully feigned ignorance, pretending not to know what I was referring to.
Fortunately, Daphne hasn’t abandoned me—she has been by my side, doing her best to fill the irreplaceable void left by Ayra. She is the only one I can confide in, the only one to whom I can entrust my pain and tears, the only one who truly understands my suffering. Her arms are always open, ready to envelop me in a warm embrace and soothe my wounded soul.
Even Sasha, I have to admit, has played her part. Of course, she hasn’t given up on the idea of making me her familiar, nor has she changed her rather... unconventional methods of persuasion. One time, she even gave me a live demonstration of the most bizarre sex toys in her collection, moaning with such exaggerated and masterful intensity that even the Pope would have blushed. She twisted herself into poses that made the Kama Sutra look like a children’s picture book, all while whispering shockingly arousing phrases, as if she were actually having sex with me. «Y-Yes... harder, Lyon! Harder...! F-Fuck me like I’m your whore...!»
Certainly not the most refined way to show me what I was supposedly missing.
In any case, I believe her opinion of me has improved slightly since that afternoon when I played the role of her fashion consultant. Thanks to my advice, she even managed to rank among the top five most attractive women in the kingdom—though, naturally, Daphne took first place once again.
In the meantime, I had to face two more matches: the first, the day after my separation from Ayra, against a certain Jung Malvhas—the Malvhas being a family of wealthy entrepreneurs in the jewelry business—and the second, just yesterday, against another member of the same family, Timothée Malvhas. I had never seen either of them before, but then again, with over fifteen hundred familiars spread across more than thirty floors, it’s practically impossible to know everyone, even by sight.
Despite my constant worry, I managed to win both matches with, I must admit, relative ease—my still undeveloped mastery of Vis energy played a crucial role, allowing me to withstand blows and land attacks far more effectively than before. Unfortunately, since both opponents were ranked lower than me, I only advanced a few positions, reaching a meager 1894th place. Still, facing less skilled opponents proved invaluable for testing my control over Vis in real combat.
But the most incredible thing was something else... Gerard won his first match! And not just against anyone—his opponent was ranked nearly a hundred positions higher than him. It was a true milestone—I had never seen him so happy before.
I’m convinced it’s all thanks to Luke Dulcar. He and Gerard never had a particularly close relationship—they would greet each other, exchange a few words now and then, but nothing more. In fact, their relationship had even worsened after Gerard and I became friends. But ever since that night they spent as roommates—the same night Ginevra Dulcar and I accidentally slept together—their bond has changed, turning them into inseparable friends... more or less. At the very least, they get along better than before, to the point that they now train together almost every day, with Levreshka’s resigned approval: «It can’t get any worse anyway...»
Through their training, they realized they share very similar fighting styles—both relying primarily on brute strength—and from that moment, everything became much easier for Gerard, who started imitating Luke entirely. Gerard isn’t weak; he simply never received proper training. But now, thanks to Clotilde’s general introduction to Vis energy and Luke’s constant guidance, it seems that good old Gerard has finally found his path. Let’s just hope this also leads to fewer whippings from that little pink-haired devil he has as a mistress...
...Speaking of Levreshka...
For the past couple of days, Daphne has been almost completely absent, and the few times I’ve seen her, she seemed unusually tense, visibly lost in thought, as if something were weighing on her mind. I’m certain it has to do with that matter Clotilde mentioned, but according to her, it’s just my imagination. In other words: it’s something serious, and a small fry like me has no business knowing about it.
Because of this—having no one to replace Ayra for the time being—I was supposed to remain confined to the dormitory. Or at least, that’s what should have happened. But Gerard—probably not wanting to leave me alone all day—suggested that we train together. I won’t deny that I would have much preferred a day entirely dedicated to doing nothing rather than enduring the annoying presence of that succubus loli, but in the face of Gerard’s persistence, I eventually gave in.
Taking turns, Levreshka’s bodyguard—who also manages teleportation until she can do it herself—brought us to the training grounds.
Or at least, that’s what I believed...
It’s an enormous, boundless, utterly gigantic... dollhouse. The walls are painted in a glaringly bright pink, almost fuchsia. At the center lies a vast empty space, and all around, countless dolls and plush toys sit neatly on chairs, grouped in threes or fours around small round tables, all facing the center like a miniature audience. The entire room is bathed in the glow of an overwhelming number of light bulbs hanging from an impossibly high ceiling.
I won’t deny that an unsettling discomfort creeps over me—it feels like I’ve stepped into a scene from one of those horror movies about possessed dolls.
Among all these toys, one stands out, seated atop a raised platform like a throne: a simple brown teddy bear, adorned with a small cardboard crown on its head and draped in a long, white-and-gold padded cape. That must be her favorite toy.
It’s certainly bizarre... Her permanent cosplayer look—a whip-wielding succubus—and her ruthless, sadistic demeanor toward Gerard contrast absurdly with this playroom. It seems more fitting for a particularly lonely and melancholic little girl. I recall reading somewhere that children compensate for a lack of affection with toys, but I doubt that’s the case for her. Levreshka doesn’t seem to experience human emotions the way Ayra does—hers must simply be an extension of her obsession with domination, an attitude reinforced by her ever-present succubus attire, the ultimate symbol of control, as she surrounds herself with an army of devoted toy servants.
Gerard and I stand at the edge of the vast central area, while Levreshka waits on the opposite side—her usual red whip already firmly grasped in her hands.
«Is... all this normal...?» I ask Gerard with an almost embarrassed smile, my gaze shifting around in confusion.
The seriousness—almost terror—in his eyes instantly erases my faint smile. He doesn’t answer, but his silence alone is enough to send a shiver down my spine. I don’t even want to imagine what kind of horrors he must have endured within these deceptively childish walls.
But as my gaze lingers on the toys around me, I notice a detail so grotesque and disturbing that my body involuntarily shudders, a deep chill racing down my spine...
These aren’t just ordinary stuffed animals or dolls. They are grotesque hybrids—stitched-together abominations, an eerie patchwork of mismatched animal parts forming monstrous chimeras. Some dolls have their upper and lower limbs swapped, while others bear four arms or four legs. But the most disturbing ones, in my opinion, are the ceramic baby dolls with animal limbs grotesquely sewn where their eyes should be. Not even the twisted mind of Dr. Frankenstein could have conceived such horrors.
From a distance, Levreshka suddenly cries out in her shrill voice, «Since there are two of you today, I’ll raise the level of the challenge a little!» She bounces eagerly on the spot, her excitement barely contained, as if she’s about to unveil something she simply can’t wait to show us.
Whatever it is, it can’t possibly be anything good...
Then, with a sharp flick of her wrist, she cracks her whip against one of those grotesque laboratory experiments—a plush toy with the body of a brown bear, the head of a lion, and upper limbs that seem to have belonged to a monkey.
At the whip’s impact, a red mist rises into the air, swirling before seeping into the stuffed abomination through the countless stitches scattered across its fabric body.
I don’t... I don’t want to believe this!
I don’t think I’ve seen anything this terrifying since I arrived here!
That grotesque stuffed monstrosity... it just stood up on its own!
And that’s not even the most terrifying part! Its size begins to swell at an alarming rate, its body expanding at an unnatural speed until—within mere seconds—it looms nearly three meters tall!
Now, the creature towers before us in all its imposing terror, its massive fists pressed against the ground like a gorilla, letting out a roar as fierce as a lion’s. Behind it, Levreshka watches with a grin of satisfaction and pride.
«Prepare yourselves to face one of the strongest soldiers in Queen Levreshka’s Army... the commander Gorilionbear!»
