Chapter 51: BloodSucker!

For someone who had just clawed his way out of a near-death soul seizure that almost turned his soul into a fried marshmallow, Ren was very determined to check out of the infirmary that same day.

Unfortunately, the infirmary spirits weren’t having it.

"Oh, absolutely not," one of them huffed, arms literally crossed over her glowing chest as she floated in front of his bed like an overprotective jellyfish nurse.

"Your soul just did a full descent into the abyss and somehow flipped back upright. We are not letting you walk out just because you think you’re fine."

"But I am fine!" Ren groaned, sitting up and swinging his legs off the side of the bed.

"Absolutely not."

Even the Life Weaver, who had initially been thrilled at his miraculous recovery and had practically bounced like a bunny around his bed while bombarding him with questions, had turned stern.

Ren tried everything; jokes, fake crying, even offering to help reorganize their chaotic drawer of enchanted scalpels, but it was no use.

The entire infirmary operated like a stubborn magical fortress.

Apparently, when you survive a soul seizure that should’ve obliterated your mind like a crystal vase under a warhammer, everyone becomes a bit clingy.

Still, he didn’t mind too much. Not entirely.

Because every time he closed his eyes to sleep, he returned to that sleek, glowing chamber deep within the Evolution Forge.

And that was where the real magic happened.

Because during his time in the infirmary, he slept. A lot.

On the outside, he was a patient trapped under high-level spirit surveillance.

But on the inside? He was a mad scientist forging himself into a living weapon.

The first night, he didn’t waste a single second. If they were going to keep him bedridden, he might as well turn his dreams into boot camp.

He evolved each instinct, muscle memory and just simple experience associated to combat and wielding his Kisarigama until his whole body almost felt like one.

But even that wasn’t enough.

On the second day, still stuck in the infirmary, he decided to do something absolutely reckless.

He decided to carve his second rune.

Yes. Just two days after surviving a soul seizure that nearly scrambled his spirit into confetti, he dove back into the void. Because of course he did.

It was a crazy decision. A mad decision. But... also the right one.

The first rune had nearly broken him, but things were different now.

He wasn’t just some regular kid with a magic pen trying to etch his way into power.

Now, his soul carried something different.

It carried a strand of bloodline; an echo of the Umbral Kinephantom Panther itself.

That changed everything!

And when he placed his finger against the soul canvas within the forge, the lines glowed easier than before.

The carving felt natural, like his soul knew what it was doing before he even started. There was still pain, of course. Fire in his nerves. Needles stabbing behind his soul. But it was tolerable.

It was... manageable.

And when it was done, he collapsed, panting.

The Stage 2 Umbral Kinephantom Panther Rune was complete.

And it came with its perks. Not just the drastic boost in physical prowess, but of course, another ability.

An insane one.

But... there was a catch.

The moment he used it for more than a few seconds, his muscles screamed, and his stamina bar, if he had one, plummeted like a boulder tossed off a cliff.

It was powerful.

But also greedy.

Still, it was worth it. Every second in the Forge was like carving a new piece of himself into the man he wanted to become.

By the time the second day technically ended, Ren was done waiting.

He stood in the middle of the infirmary at night, hands clasped in a mock-prayer as he gave the spirits his most pitiful expression.

"Please," he begged. "I’m fine. Seriously. If anything happens, I’ll sprint back here so fast, you’ll think I teleported. Scout’s honor."

The spirits looked at each other. Some were annoyed. Some were unconvinced.

But the Life Weaver gave a small sigh.

"...Fine," she muttered, clearly against it, "but only if you promise on your honor to come back at the first sign of trouble."

"Done!" Ren grinned, practically vibrating.

So, with a lot of signatures, five extra medical talismans taped to his chest, and a floating orb watching from above just in case, Ren finally returned to his dorm.

And now it was the third night.

He laid down in the center of his room, the moonlight casting a cold silver glow through the window.

It was time to dive back into the forge and unwrap his newly evolved kusarigama!

In the blink of an eye, the familiar hum of energy surged around Ren’s consciousness, and his consciousness flickered out of the real world, sinking straight back into the Evolution Forge.

He didn’t waste a second. The moment his feet hit the forge floor, his eyes snapped to the pedestal where a pulsing, red crystal hovered silently in the air like a heart ripped out of a god.

The Red Evolution Crystal.

With a sharp inhale and no hesitation, Ren strode forward, reached out, and snatched the crystal from its resting place.

The instant he did, the crystal glowed faintly and and from within, a monster of a weapon emerged.

The kusarigama he once called Bloodthirsty had changed.

No.

It had evolved.

Where it once looked like a practical, deadly killing tool turned nightmare, now it looked like something a demon warlord would wield on his way to conquer heaven.

The curved blade was longer and thicker, its once-smooth edge now jagged and serrated, shaped like a smile carved by madness itself.

Its color had deepened into a brutal obsidian black, with glowing blood-red designs etched across its length—not painted on, but alive, squirming with an inner hunger like veins filled with lava.

The handle had thickened too, wrapped tightly with dark crimson thread that pulsed faintly like it had a heartbeat of its own.

But the real horror was at the other end.

The spiked club.

The thing was no longer just a weighted end,

it was a nightmare in metal.

The spikes had doubled in number, grown longer, and bent slightly like the fangs of a beast ready to pierce bone.

The entire club looked like it could crush a boulder like a grape. And Ren, despite all his new strength, immediately felt the weight.

"Holy crap, this thing got fat," he muttered, nearly toppling sideways the moment he picked it up.

His muscles tensed, tendons straining. His soul flared in response, and he realized instantly:

’If I hadn’t carved that second rune, I wouldn’t even be able to hold this thing off the floor.’

But the moment his fingers fully wrapped around the handle, it began.

A chilling aura exploded from the kusarigama like a burst of evil wind.

It wasn’t just pressure. It was like something alive had just woken up inside the weapon.

Ren’s pupils narrowed.

A blood-colored mist drifted up from the weapon’s surface, curling around his arms and coiling toward his neck.

And then he heard it; the whispers. Faint. Unclear. Like a dozen insane voices screaming from the bottom of a deep well.

He didn’t understand the language. Maybe it wasn’t a language at all. Just... feelings. Hatred. Hunger. A thirst so raw it made his blood feel carbonated.

Drink. Bleed. Feed. Rip. Kill. More!

Ren flinched.

But only for a second.

Then he gritted his teeth and forced those thoughts out with the power of his will.

"Not today, Satan-Scythe," he said through clenched teeth. "I own you. Not the other way around."

And just like that, the aura dimmed. Not gone, but pushed back like a rabid dog behind an invisible leash.

His eyes narrowed with caution, but his smirk returned just as fast.

"Oh yeah. You’re definitely cooler now."

He tapped his watch, and the display flickered to life above his wrist.

It revealed the weapon’s updated name and stats in bold orange text:

[Bloodsucker. Grade: Uncommon]

• Weight: 134.8kg

• Special Ability: Blood Force Generation

• Description: Once known as Bloodthirsty, this weapon has evolved and turned into something more menacing.

Bloodsucker feeds on the blood of its wielder and enemies to generate Blood Force, a violent combat energy far stronger than mere aura or bloodlust.

• Warning: Blood Force may amplify aggression and requires mental control.]

Ren stared at the name.

"Bloodsucker?" he repeated with a raised eyebrow. "Really? What’s next—’Murder-McChainy’? ’Stabby-Soul-Slurper’? I swear these naming bots are getting lazy."

But he couldn’t deny it, the upgrade was massive.

Originally, Bloodthirsty had been kind of like a magic vampire kusarigama: it sucked a little blood from him to boost its power temporarily by giving it a ’blood aura.’

That alone was strong enough to scare off most opponents.

But this new version didn’t just create an aura.

It created something deeper; Blood Force.

Whatever that was, it sounded like it could bend laws and snap bones.

Still... with great power came a great chance of accidentally turning yourself into a blood-soaked lunatic, so Ren wisely decided not to test it on the spot.

He gave it one last swing, just enough to feel the brutal new weight and razor-sharp tension along the chain and then carefully guided the weapon back into his storage pouch, letting it vanish with a shimmer of red light.

Once it was gone, he let out a deep sigh and finally relaxed his posture.

"This Forge is a cheat code," he muttered, looking around the eerie forge chamber once more.

"Other people have to beg blacksmiths, pay like twenty thousand points, and wait two months just to evolve their weapon a single tier. I just take a nap and wake up with a murder-scythe that talks to me in demon."

He chuckled quietly.

But then, his expression shifted.

Serious now.

The fun part was over.

Only three days remained until his match with Mirabella.

She wasn’t just strong, she was powerful. Driven.

If he walked in half-ready, he’d end up eating her ice tornado and spending another week in the infirmary... if he was lucky.

Ren exhaled slowly, his eyes sharpening as he turned toward the forge gate.

Three days.

Three days to push everything he had to the next level.

Game on!
