Reincarnated as an Energy with a System
Chapter 1743 1743: Bandits

The idea of there being a hidden entrance to the dungeon below the basement was an idea that was obvious to Ning after he had thought of it. However, even then, he couldn't find it.

'How did the bandits enter?' he wondered, unable to believe that the damn bandits had been smarter than him. 'They had manpower. I'm a single person with no time.'

Either way, he had spent nearly half an hour in this place, and his people would be coming close by this time. He needed to let them know that the bandits really were here and were laying an ambush.

He quickly walked back up to the top and went out the broken doors to go to his horse, when he realized that his horse was missing entirely.

"Huh?"

He quickly ran down the entire hill, making his way down to the forest where he had tied his horse. It wasn't there at all. Had he tied the noose too loose? No, he couldn't have made such a mistake.

He looked around and saw hoofprints in the grass where the horse had walked toward. And there were footprints along with it, left behind with muddy feet.

'People,' he thought. 'Bandits?'

He looked down the road and saw the carriages getting close. They would be here in less than 10 minutes.

'Are these damn people hiding in the forest?' Ning thought. He couldn't believe there were actually two groups of bandits. 'Goddamn pincer attack.'

He made his way into the forest, his concealment still hiding him. He tried to follow the track marks for a while, but it seemed that wasn't very much needed. He could already hear sounds coming not far away from him.

He had to walk slowly for not more than a minute before he saw a group of about 20 men in dirty clothes, sitting low behind the bushes, getting ready to ambush the incoming carriages. His horse was tied close by, with its saddles all brought down and looked through.

Ning quickly counted the people finding out that there were 24 in total. He looked around to see if there were more hiding, but his Life Sense sensed none other.

"Do not hurt the horses no matter what," one of the bandits, who seems to be the leader, said.

"What about the women, boss? Can we have some?" another man asked.

"Of course," the boss said. "Kill all the men first and you can have all the women you want. I will even share the pretty ones with you once I'm done with them. I can already see two outside the carriages."

The moment he finished his words, his skull was cracked open with the golden spear, that went through the back of his skull and came out the other side. He sprawled on the ground, his body twitching as he died right there.

The sudden attack took everyone by surprise.

"Who did that?"

"Bastard!"

"Who attacked the boss?"

Ning was still concealed for the most part, but with such an incident, it was impossible to keep himself hidden. People began noticing him and pointed at him.

Ning didn't bother concealing him anymore, standing weaponless before the other 23 bandits.

"Honestly," he said slowly. "I was planning on scaring you all to get you to run away. I didn't think the killing was necessary. But it seems I was wrong. You all deserve to die."

The spear teleported back into his hand and he moved. He was a dancer with the spear, the screams his music. He moved through the bandits like a fish in war, not a single movement out unnecessary, not a single attack wasted.

Like a God of War had descended onto their camp, he stabbed and ripped through the bandits, who were unable to do a single thing to him. They tried to fight back, but nothing they did could stop him.

Their weapons were useless against his golden spear, their retaliation a wave. Some even tried to run away, but Ning's spear found its way to them as well.

It flew in an arc, stabbing them through the chest, before teleporting back to his hands where he used it to kill many more people. Within 2 minutes, he managed to finish them all off. Not a single person was awake.

Ning hardly even lost his breath at all. He looked at the spear, the blood flowing through the folds on its surface. It traveled through the intricate pattern, dripping off the tip at the end, pooling in a small puddle on the ground where the tip faced.

'Oh,' Ning thought in surprise. 'Not bad.'

He could feel the low rumble of the horses and carriages, so he took his own horse and slowly pulled it out of the forest. When he walked outside, the soldiers were already rushing in his direction, only stopping when they noticed him.

They were confused to see him there, but quickly fell back into position.

"Huh? What's going on?" Matthew asked, seeing Ning before him, with blood sprayed on his clothes.

"Bandits," Ning said. "There were some waiting for us. I killed them."

The many other non-soldier travelers gasped when they heard that. Hearing that he had killed people made them scared. Death wasn't such a regular occurrence for these people after all.

"Okay…" the man said slowly. "All of them?"

"No, not all," Ning said, pointing toward the fort. "There are more there, hiding in the basement. I tried going there but I can't find the way to the basement."

"Okay," Matthew said slowly. "Let's get these people to cross the bridge first. Everyone, be ready for the attack."

The soldiers got ready for a fight and the civilians were ready to leave. Ning and the rest went forward toward the fort, with the others dragging behind slowly.

They approached the fort, being on the lookout, waiting for the bandits to show, but they never did.

"Are you sure there are bandits in there?" Matthew asked.

"Yeah, down below," Ning said.

Matthew tapped his foot impatiently. "Screw it. Let's go see what they're doing."
