Chapter 68: Chapter 66: Reflection of Snow (Part 2)

(Note: Aki is Narrating her backstory)

We sat quietly near my mother’s grave, the wind rustling gently through the winter trees. The snow had just started to fall again—soft and light, like her touch. I stared at her name carved into the stone. My heart ached, but at the same time, there was peace.

Zexon sat beside me, close enough to feel his warmth. I didn’t realize I was trembling until he gently reached for my hand and held it tight.

"Aki," he said, his voice calm but full of emotion, "the day I first saw you... I felt something I can’t explain. And now, holding your hand like this... I swear, I’ll never let it go. Never. Not for anything in this world."

I looked at him, eyes wet, lips trembling.

"You know... my mom... she was everything to me. She worked herself to death so I could live... and in the end, she smiled. Because of you. She died smiling. That’s all I ever wanted."

He didn’t say anything. He just squeezed my hand a little tighter.

"So," I whispered, "from now on... I promise I’ll do everything I can to make you happy. I’ll keep you smiling. Just like you did for her."

He chuckled through his tears, and I did too. We both laughed gently, as if her spirit were right there, sitting between us.

We stood up together, facing the grave one last time before we left.

"Goodbye, mom," I whispered. "I’ll be okay. I’ll be happy... I promise."

---

Years passed. And one day, I stood beside Zexon in a white dress, the wind catching my hair like a storybook ending.

It was our wedding.

He held my hand as we faced the crowd. My heart was so full, I thought it might burst.

For the first time in my life, I truly felt like the most special person in the entire world.

People whispered and smiled.

"She’s stunning..."

"Zexon’s bride is like a snow fairy..."

"He must be the happiest man alive."

And he was. But so was I.

We lived together. We ran through the city streets hand-in-hand. We laughed until our stomachs hurt. We shared our pain, and we held each other’s joy like treasures.

One sunny afternoon, we were at the market together, laughing over fruit prices and picking out vegetables. Zexon had a basket full of things and was arguing with a vendor about cabbage when I felt a gentle tug on my sleeve.

I turned.

A small girl, probably no older than four, stared up at me with wide, hopeful eyes.

"Mama?" she said softly.

My eyes widened. I knelt down, smiling gently. Before I could say anything, she blinked and shook her head.

"Oh... you’re not Mama... sorry!"

She ran off toward another woman down the street.

I blinked, stunned... then felt warmth rush to my face. I stood up, turning away slightly.

Zexon returned, carrying the groceries, looking confused.

"What happened? You okay?"

I tried to play it off but then giggled, cheeks still pink.

"I want to be a mama."

Zexon nearly dropped the basket.

"W-What?!" His face turned redder than the tomatoes he just bought.

I laughed, holding my stomach.

"I said... I wanna be a mama!"

He stared at me like he couldn’t believe what he heard. Then, slowly, the corners of his lips turned up in the softest, most loving smile I’d ever seen.

He didn’t say a word.

But the way he looked at me...

That was enough.

And in that moment, I knew—I was still the most special person in the world.

Because I was his. And he was mine.

A week after that day in the market, I discovered something that changed everything.

I was pregnant.

The words kept ringing in my ears over and over again like a song I never wanted to stop singing.

"I’m going to be a mama..."

I sat on the edge of our bed, hand resting gently on my stomach. I didn’t even feel sick from the news—I felt like I was flying. Zexon was out in the garden trimming the flowers like he always did on quiet mornings. I watched him through the window, wondering how to tell him.

When he came back in, brushing snowflakes from his shoulders, I just ran into his arms and whispered in his ear.

"I’m going to be a mama."

He froze. I could feel the warmth of his breath against my neck.

Then he pulled back and stared at me, eyes wide, lips trembling.

"You mean..."

I nodded slowly, tears already welling up.

His face lit up like the sun had risen inside him.

"I’m going to be a father?"

We both burst into laughter and tears at the same time. We just hugged, holding each other tightly like we never wanted to let go.

Later that evening, we sat by the fire, his hand on my stomach as if he could already feel the little heartbeat growing inside. We started talking about names, about if we wanted a boy or a girl.

"I want a little girl," I said, giggling. "Someone just like you. Kind and warm and way too handsome for her own good."

Zexon smirked. "Then I want a boy. With your eyes and your heart. Someone who’ll make every noble girl jealous and every knight proud."

We laughed.

We dreamed.

We talked about building a nursery and planting a tree for the baby’s birth. He said he’d start writing letters for them to read when they grew up. I said I’d make them clothes with my own hands.

Every moment felt like magic. I had never been this happy.

But then... everything changed.

---

It was a cold night. We’d had a long day running errands, meeting some guests, dealing with noble paperwork Zexon hated. We were both exhausted, but happy. I’d made warm soup and bread, and we sat down at the small table in our home, just like always.

Zexon smiled at me, his usual soft grin, and I smiled back.

We both lifted our spoons.

Then, I felt it.

A wave of dizziness.

A tightness in my chest.

My vision blurred.

Zexon dropped his spoon, grabbing his side.

"Aki..." he gasped. "Something’s... wrong..."

I tried to stand, but my legs gave out. I fell to the ground, clutching my stomach.

Poison.

Zexon’s eyes widened in realization. He reached for me, crawling across the floor.

"I-It’s poison," he whispered.

Suddenly, the door burst open.

Dark figures stormed in—five of them, dressed in black, faces hidden.

Before I could scream, one of them grabbed my hair and yanked me up. I cried out, tears blurring my vision.

"ZEXON!"

He tried to move. He tried so hard. But another man kicked him back to the floor.

Then, in one swift motion, they stabbed him.

Right in front of me.

Again.

And again.

His eyes widened in shock. He tried to reach out to me, his mouth moving, but no sound came.

My heart shattered.

Then they turned to me.

I didn’t even feel the blade the first time.

Just... cold.

Then pain. Hot. Deep. Burning.

Again. And again. My blood soaked the floor beneath me, joining his.

One of the men stepped back and said with no emotion,

"With this, our problems should be gone. He won’t be interfering in our plans anymore."

Then they left.

They just walked away.

I could barely breathe. My vision was fading. But I didn’t care.

I crawled.

I crawled through the blood, the pain, the broken floorboards, until I reached him.

He was still breathing—just barely.

His hand found mine.

Our fingers touched.

I smiled through the tears and the blood on my lips.

"Darling..." I whispered, "If we ever get reborn... I would always want to be your wife. Again and again."

He smiled.

Just for a second.

Then everything faded to black.

When I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by... nothing.

The world was empty. Colorless. Silent. A cold wind brushed against my skin, though I felt no warmth or chill from it. The sky above me was neither day nor night—it was simply gray.

I sat up slowly, my body stiff, my limbs foreign, like I hadn’t used them in a very long time.

Where... was I?

Who... was I?

I looked around. There was no sign of life. No trees. No water. No light.

Just... nothing.

But inside me, I felt it. A pain I couldn’t name. A hole that nothing could fill. Like I had lost something—no, someone—so important that the absence of them echoed in my very soul.

I clutched my chest, but there was no wound. I checked my body—clean, unscarred. No signs of injury. No signs of anything at all. I felt light, like a shadow without a past.

Then, a voice.

Deep.

Cold.

Resonant.

"You poor little soul."

I turned around sharply.

Behind me stood a tall figure cloaked in black and red. His face was pale, almost skeletal, with glowing eyes that pierced through me.

He didn’t look like a man.

He looked like something older. Something darker.

"You’ve lost something," he said, stepping closer.

I tried to speak, but my mouth felt dry. My voice didn’t come.

"You don’t remember," he continued. "That’s how it works. But your soul does. It screams. It cries out. Even if your mind is empty."

My hands trembled. "What... did I lose...?"

He knelt before me, his expression unreadable.

"Love. A life. A purpose. All stolen from you in a cruel twist of fate."

Images flashed in my mind—eyes full of light, a gentle voice calling me by a name I couldn’t recall, the warmth of arms around me, and the echo of laughter.

Tears welled in my eyes.

"I—I don’t understand..."

He touched my shoulder. I flinched, but it didn’t hurt.

"You don’t have to understand now. But the pain you feel is real. It’s the mark of loss."

I nodded slowly, tears now running freely down my cheeks.

"Will I ever... get it back? Whatever it was...?"

He stood up again, his cloak billowing despite the still air.

"Maybe. But not as you are now. Not in this form."

I looked up at him, confused.

"Then... what do I do? What am I supposed to do...?"

He extended a pale, long-fingered hand.

"Become a demon."

(End of flashback)

As Aki remember that all, tears started to flow down from her eyes and she wishpeard

"I remember now....."

She slowly looked at the wolf’s Corps then she slowly hugged it and says

"I remember evething"

Hinari and Himiko still in there fused body,

"Listen to me Hinari!" Himiko scream

Hinari gasped in shock, Then Himiko screams again

"If she’s in pain then why don’t we free her from that!"

"Just listen to me! I also know how it feels i know how you are feeling but we have to do it! No! We must do itttt"

They raised the sword and gripped it harder then they both together scream

"AAAAAAAAAAA"

in instant they dashed towards Aki and screamed

"Set your heart together!!!!!"

Aki still sitting there hugging the wolf’s Corps then she slowly raised her hand and looked at them, it felt like time has slowed for her, but...

Aki slowly smiled and closed her eyes and her neck got cutoff by them, her head slowly float up in the air spinning then she slowly opened her eyes and saw her face on the reflection in the ice

Himiko and Hinari looked at her and saw her face, a smile and tear on her eyes

In a small and soft voice Aki speaks and says

"What a beautiful face...."

Then at the end she saw a vision on her mind.... the vision was

Aki sitting under the blue sky in a place filled with flowers and beside her was sitting Zexon and they both were holding, a baby boy and a baby girl....

Then her head slowly turned onto dust and faded away with a smile.

Himiko and Hinari fell down and their body got separate back, they breath heavily and looked at each other then a small smile appired in their face then they together said

"We did it"
