Chapter 34: Chapter: 34, Fated Separation being Reunited

In the middle of a ruined castle with broken rubbles scattering across the ground and fire burned the distant structures. The sky was dark and rain poured down as the echoes of the soldiers’ cry rang throughout the field and many monsters of different types attacked the surrounding soldiers with deep hunger in their eyes.

In the middle of that ruined battlefield, a white-haired man was clutching the fallen corpse of a green skinned woman. Tears flowed down on his bloodied face, his eyes red with grief.

His heart that never felt the touch of a True Love that now fell for this enemy of his. It was love at first sight. During their confrontation, Kieran had noticed that this person, for whom his heart had genuine feelings, was controlled by a mysterious force unknown to him.

His hand firmly held the person’s face, her name still unknown to him. He closed in and kissed her lips desperately, as if doing sincerely enough would bring her back. After a brief moment, he released her lips with a defeated sight.

He gently and lovingly kissed her forehead, saying the final farewell to the person he met for the first and the last time.

After the cries of monsters and soldiers died down, footsteps could be heard from a distance slowly growing closer.

A voice inquired with a hoarse voice, "Ever since childhood, I’ve never seen that look on your face. Is she really so important in just the first meeting?"

Kieran moved his head to look at him. Dain was taken aback to see Kieran’s haggard figure with a sorrowful expression. His eyes looked tired of everything with his glowing blue pupils in the middle of the blood red eyes. His messy white hair was damp with the rainwater and his clothes were ripped from many sword cuts.

Kieran looked back at Gura’s lifeless body and said in a hoarse voice, "My heart fell for her, but our candle of love, extinguished before it could fully ignite."

Dain shook his head and said solemnly, "Though she’s gone, the memories of her still remain in your mind. Maybe somewhere in a different timeline, you two are happily together. But alas, it’s a pity that the future can’t happen in this time-lines." (A/R: Terrified Emoji)

Kieran was silent for a brief moment, and soon enough, tears began to pour out uncontrollably like a dam let loose. His heart was heavy with regret and sadness as the longing for that now impossible future. (A/R: Sad Emoji)

But he also felt an absurd joy and happiness for the other Kieran’s throughout the other branches of Time-line. His smile was twisted with both joy and sorrow.

Dain looked at it with pain growing in his heart. This childhood friend of his has for the first time been in a state like this.

He can’t even complain because he himself would be in the same state as him when any of the three girls die by the hands of his enemies.

He just stood there, being a spectator to his friend’s misery.

Later, Kieran became withdrawn, gloomy and... silent. He would take any missions without voicing any suggestions or disagreement. Dain was afraid that his friend might develop suicidal tendencies.

He tried everything to cure him and give him a meaning to life. And for a few moments, he looked okay. But there was still lingering sadness in his eyes and demeanor, which didn’t miss Dain’s eyes.

After some months, while they were in the middle of a battle against Underworld forces, Dain was in a critical situation. Two grandmaster rank demon commanders had ambushed him and had an upper-hand against him.

When he was in a corner, one of them caught him off guard and was about to take his life when Kieran appeared and took him down by sacrificing his own life. Dain was grateful and sorrowful at the same time looking at his friend’s lifeless body.

Penelope was shocked with disbelief to see her brother, the little brother who was her only family in this world, the brother who vowed to protect her until she dies of old age, was now lying in front of her with no hint of life left. His lips still had a faint smile, showing that he held no regrets and passed with satisfaction.

She wailed for the first time in this world. Her tears flowed uncontrollably as she tightly hugged Dainsleif asking for comfort.

In the current timeline, Penelope lay on her bed and reminisced about her brother’s fate in the previous life. Her heart ached at the lifeless state in her memories.

She had known the reason for his gloomy mood before but didn’t anticipate for it to be so significant that the sweet, energetic and always happy brother of hers would develop suicidal tendencies.

She was going to the dungeon mainly to find that goblin girl and hand her over to Kieran. But it was unexpected to her that Dain would be the first one to find her and bring her back. She was still aggrieved knowing she was once Dain’s Slave but now it was okay.

This has now further confirmed their suspicions. Dain has also regressed from the future. This was the only thing that confirmed his recent ahead of schedule actions.

She didn’t want to admit it but she indeed felt happy and scared at this. Her happiness stemmed from the realization that she can now make it up to him in this life for the actions she committed in the previous life.

While Scared at the possibility of Dain resenting her to the point of never forgiving her. She had vowed to serve him to the fullest in this life and the many others ahead. Not just because of her feelings, but also because of everything he had ever done for her.

Kieran was in his room, gazing at Gura like a child who had found its lost toy. He might be an otaku, but he wasn’t blind like those cliché male leads that ignore the big billboard confessing the female leads feelings.

He has fallen in love with this unknown beautiful girl of the goblin race. His heart thumped with excitement as his eyes landed on the red mark on her neck. ’Something’ rose up as he quickly tried hiding this reaction from his body.

Gura, who had already noticed his sudden reaction, turned embarrassed with red cheeks. She had never felt this way in her entire life. She had seen many people mating back on her tribe but none of them made her as embarrassed as she was feeling in front of this person.

Her heart started to act wildly and weirdly from the moment she saw his face among the spectators. She couldn’t describe it but this made her feel like she had regained something very close to her heart that was lost for eternity.

She was still wary of every human but with him; it felt as if she would always be safe and her guard’s drops as she became at ease.

"S-So, W-What is your name?" Kieran asked hesitantly. He would’ve first made sure if the other could understand him before speaking but hearing her talking in this world’s common language made him carefree.

Gura was startled but not surprised, "I-Its Gura my lord." She said hesitatingly.

Kieran gave her a gentle smile, "Very cute name. I am Kieran; it’s nice to meet you, Gura."

Gura quickly hid her face, afraid to show her embarrassment when he called her name ’cute’.

Kieran then talked about the spare bed for Gura, "The spare bed would be here in about a week, until then, you will sleep on the bed and I will sleep on the couch."

"Why!" Gura asked in a little loud voice but quickly realized and held her mouth.

Kieran was patient as he responded, "Because you’re new here and are also a girl. I can’t watch a girl suffer when I sleep comfortably."

Gura moved her head to the opposite side and asked something that got Kieran completely off-guard.

"H-How about... We sleep together. N-Not like That! The bed is big and has enough space...so; I thought we could sleep on different sides."

Kieran quickly broke out of his daze and quickly tried to warn her, "You see, I wouldn’t reject this idea, since I am also a man. So, make sure you can handle it and not to regret it later."

Gura looked at him, with a fire of determination burning in her eyes, she said resolutely, "I am sure I can handle it."

Kieran sighed and quickly began to prepare the bed. Gura is currently new here, so he will assign someone to train her in basic daily chores and cooking tomorrow. He quickly finished his preparation and as it was already night-time and they had already eaten, they both went back to sleep with both of them being on different corners.

Gura had thought she would be too nervous to sleep but unexpectedly, as soon as she lay down beside Kieran, she quickly drifted to sleep with no trouble.

Kieran just looked at her sleeping face with clear adoration filling his eyes.
