Chapter 36: Dungeon
Chapter 36: Dungeon
Romina wandered around the underground base, her footsteps light as she searched for either Yenissa or Shennong. Those two were almost impossible to find most of the time, always off doing their own thing. But today was different. Today, for some strange reason, Shennong had been in his new ’collection room’ the entire day, decorating it.
She stopped in front of a door she had never opened before. The collection room. She had never seen what was inside, never even asked, but now curiosity was getting the better of her. Taking a deep breath, she raised her hand and knocked.
"Come in," Shennong’s voice called from inside.
Slowly, she pushed open the door. And then, her jaw dropped.
The room was enormous—larger than most of the arenas she had seen in any nation. Everything was neatly arranged, and the sheer scale of it overwhelmed her. Wooden mannequins stood in rows, each dressed in different sets of armor, some of which she recognized immediately. Those... those were the armors of the people who had tried to kill her.
Her eyes drifted to the many chests stacked neatly along one side of the room, all filled with iron—resources Shennong had gathered from deep within the mineral-rich caves of the Percival Barony. But that wasn’t all.
There were farms. Actual farms. Different kinds of plants and flowers grew in organized beds, thriving under artificial lights. The sight was surreal. It was as if Shennong had created an entire ecosystem underground.
And in the center of it all, standing tall and shining under the dim lights, was a golden statue of a woman.
Romina didn’t even need to guess. She knew exactly who it was.
"Yenissa..." she whispered.
Shennong approached her slowly, his expression calm as always. "What do you think?"
Romina turned to him, still in shock. "This... this is insane. When did you even make all of this?"
Shennong chuckled. "It just came to me. I figured I needed a place like this for what I’m about to do."
Her body tensed. Anything Shennong did was never simple. There was always something deeper, something hidden behind his calm demeanor. Warily, she narrowed her eyes at him.
"And what exactly are you about to do?"
Shennong only smiled. "I’m not going to tell you."
Romina’s heart sank. No matter how much time passed, no matter what she did, Shennong still treated her like an outsider. Like someone who didn’t belong. She bit her lip, trying to push down the disappointment, but it was impossible to ignore. It always came back to this.
Then, suddenly, Shennong moved closer.
Romina stiffened as he reached out, his fingers gently brushing against her cheek. The warmth of his touch startled her, and before she could react, he leaned in and whispered something in her ear.
"I would also like to get that Agni inside you... and store something that belonged to it in this collection room."
Her breath caught in her throat. So that was it. That was the only reason she was here. Not because she mattered. Not because he cared. But because of Agni.
Of course. It was always about Agni.
She clenched her fists, forcing herself to stay composed. Without a word, she turned around and walked out of the collection room, her steps quick and filled with unspoken emotions. She didn’t even glance back as she reached for the door and locked it behind her.
A grey-colored lock now secured the room.
Shennong watched as she ran her fingers over it.
"Tungsten," he explained. "I made it using tungsten ore. A rare mineral I found deep in a cave."
Romina said nothing. She already knew Shennong and Yenissa were planning something. Something dangerous. The newly appeared red door in the main room was proof of that. But no matter how much she thought about it, she couldn’t understand what they were doing.
And that scared her.
But what scared her even more... was the fact that a part of her still cared.

Yenissa stood at the edge of the vast, empty expanse, her arms crossed as she observed the scene before her. The space had been meticulously built, the ground leveled to perfection, yet it lacked life. That was, until Shennong began his work.
The man moved with a purpose, his hands gripping clumps of vibrant green grass. He laid them down across the barren soil, and to Yenissa’s astonishment, they took root instantly, spreading across the surface like a living carpet. It was nothing short of miraculous.
"Normally, we’d have to plant each seed and wait for it to grow," Yenissa murmured to herself. "But he just places the grass and it merges with the earth as if it was always meant to be there."
After several minutes of tireless work, Shennong straightened, wiping sweat from his brow. Yenissa, ever the observant one, handed him a towel.
"That was exhausting," he admitted, taking the towel and dabbing his forehead. "But not as exhausting as digging this whole thing. I really thought it would take at least a month to dig this whole place, but I managed to finish it within a few hours,"
Yenissa’s curiosity got the better of her. "What kind of energy does your power use, Shennong? My abilities rely on a mixture of mana and the dark energy from the succubus realm called Poson. But what about yours? Even the system doesn’t explain things to me clearly."
Shennong furrowed his brows in thought. "It’s not mana," he said after a pause. "I don’t feel any drain on my magical reserves. If I had to guess, it’s just bodily energy—my own strength and calories being burned. Kind of like normal mining."
Yenissa’s eyes widened. "That’s insane. It’s like you’re some kind of extraordinary beast. Doing all this and never even having to regenerate your mana or any kind of energy."
"That’s not true! I do have to take breaks because I get tired," Shennong chuckled, changing the subject. "By the way, how do you like it so far?"
She looked around, taking in the now lush, green terrain. "I like it a lot. This is your tenth floor, right?"
He smiled, nodding. "Yeah. Our dungeon is going to be massive."
Yenissa tilted her head, her gaze sharp. "You still plan on making that human farm for succubi, don’t you?"
Shennong exhaled. "I haven’t forgotten my promise, but I can’t just create a human farm outright. Too many powerful factions would take issue with that. I might need to befriend some of them for my own benefit."
Yenissa finished his thought for him. "And is that why we’re building this dungeon with ten floors."
Shennong grinned. "That’s not the only reason. I like building things. I want to create an entire world down here, a place that draws in powerful people who seek to conquer it. And if they fail, well... their armor and treasures will make fine additions to my collection. But if they win, I’ll reward them."
Yenissa crossed her arms, smirking. "You have some grand plans. I do like that."
"That’s why we have to start somewhere." He gestured to the greenery before them. "This is the first layer—the Moonlight Forest."
Yenissa raised an eyebrow. "Moonlight Forest? Sounds poetic."
"It fits, don’t you think?" he said, glancing up at the ceiling of the cavern, where magical stones glowed faintly, mimicking the night sky. "First, I need to finish growing the vegetation. I’ll add a few rare and valuable trees, then introduce animals and monsters. Slimes, goblins, orcs, and a few common creatures. As for animals—snakes, rabbits, bees, and so on. Soon, this will become a fully dangerous, thriving ecosystem. It’s not going to be just an imitation of a forest. This is going to be a unique ecosystem. I want to experiment with a few things."
"That’s interesting!" Yenissa tapped a finger against her lips. "How long do you think this will take?"
Shennong smirked. "I’ll finish this before I make Cassandra mine. I want to challenge myself and see whether I can achieve that goal."
Yenissa rolled her eyes, but there was amusement in her expression. "That woman again? You are determined. Do you like her that much?"
"Of course, I can confidently say after Rilith and Velara, she is my favourite woman so far. But..." Shennong replied confidently. "Nothing will ever come close to you, Yenissa! You will always be my number one,"
"I am not worried about that," Yenissa said with a slight blush getting wet from his words.
"This dungeon will be open to humans and any other creatures daring enough to enter. After this, I’ll move on to the other floors. I need to find people to take care of this place too. We have a lot of work to do, Yenissa. I will always need your help."
Yenissa chuckled. "Well, then, I suppose I should help. After all, if we’re making history, I’d like to be a part of it. I can already feel it. This dungeon will shake the world."
Shennong grinned. "That’s even better. I can get a lot more loot that way. A fine addition to my collection room,"
When she heard the name collection room, Yenissa suddenly remembered something she wanted to complain about.
"Shennong... I heard you made a statue of me... a naked one!"
"Yes... I spent more time on that statue than on the entire collection room!" Shennong muttered proudly.
Yenissa looked embarrassed but hesitated before asking, "Do you mind making a statue of yourself... preferably a life-sized replica, including your penis—with all the veins?"
Shennong gave her a weird look. "Why do you want that? You have me! I understand wanting a statue, but why my penis?"
"You know... we can’t have sex since it’s dangerous for you even with our connection, but I still dream about being with my darling, so..."
Shennong understood what Yenissa was getting at, and his expression turned serious.
"I won’t allow that. Even if I die, you’re only going to fuck me—not a statue, not minerals, nothing else. Only me, in my flesh," he muttered.
Yenissa sighed, knowing that would never happen but still smiled appreciating the sentiment.
