Chapter 88: Betrothal Gifts!
Chapter 88: Betrothal Gifts!
"Wake her up!" the knights stared at Damon as if he had grown another head. He was not going inside the carriage but asking them to wake up the lady?
How could they dare to? Was she still a noble?
"How about I go and call one of her maids to wake her up instead?" asked a knight worried that he might lose his head for his one mistake.
They have reached the palace already. And they have knocked on the door a few times. But the lady did not wake up or respond. She was in a deep sleep.
It was still early in the morning. The sky was still dark. So it was only natural that the lacy was sleeping in her comfort. But why did the lord want them to wake her up?
"Do you think the lady had a personal maid?" Damon glared at the knight. "If you call any other maid, it would spread rumors since I have taken the carriage personally." the knight frowned. He did not understand why it would form a rumor.
The lady was only sleeping. Right? But as Damon remembers her way of sleeping. He could not help but feel heat all over. He could not let a maid see that and make assumptions.
"Then. should i go inside?" The knight was helpless. "Since the lady is not waking up by knocking on the door. It is better that we nudge her."
"..." the knight shrunk his body as soon as he whispered those words. Because Damon;s face had turned dark. So dark that he felt goosebumps all over his skin.
"Forget it! Since she wanted to continue to sleep. Let her sleep. It is not polite to wake her up." he dismissed the thought and waved his hands.
The knights looked at each other not sure if they should leave or wait.
"You." Damon pointed at the knight speaking earlier. "Since you are so kind, you should wait for her. Escort her to her room when she wakes up. We still have things to deal with."
"...." I want to return to my house too!

The next day, Olivia woke up naturally.
Opening her eyes, she stared at her foreign surroundings in confusion. It was a long moment before she remembered that she was in carriage with Damon
A beat later, she realized that she was alone in the carriage and it was not moving anymore.
She stared dazedly at the ceiling for ten seconds before she tore away the blanket and leaped off the seat in a panic. But it did not have enough height and her head hit the ceiling. Could it be that he had left her behind in the woods.
"Are you alright, my lady?" Olivia blinked and opened the window hurriedly. A knight was waiting for her there.
She smiled brightly at her.
"My lady, we reached the palace two hours ago. The lord tried to wake you up but you were in deep sleep. So he asked me to wait for you while he left with the other knights." the knight explained her in a patient voice.
Olivia flushed as she cursed herself. For many days she had been busy making those incense and then finding ways to convince Edward. When was the last time she had slept so comfortably that she did not have nightmares. Last night was exceptional and that was also in the presence of Damon.
"Thank you!" She opened the door. The knight did not leave at once but helped her in coming out of the carriage.
"I apologize that I am such a heavy sleeper." She smiled and bowed slightly to leave but the knight kept following her, confusing her.
"That is alright. My lord is such a gentleman. You know he left the carriage and sat outside the coach with coachmen so that the lady could sleep comfortably. He even said..." Olivia felt her throat go dry as she heard the knight.
She could not imagine Damon behaving like a gentleman. But perhaps, she did not know enough about him. She had already reached her chambers as he told her about the great Demon king.
"Thank you for escorting me." the knight bowed and left. Olivia stood there looking at the distance in daze! "A gentleman!" she did not notice her lips curled upwards.
Though she had slept for a long time. The carriage seat was not that comfortable. Her back hurt and her legs felt numb. Since she had nothing to do, she decided to rest first in her room.
As soon as she entered the room, she noticed two small bodies huddled up on her bed and sleeping in a strange posture. Olivia shook her head as she walked closer and pushed Abi at the center of the bed, afraid that she would fall from the corner.
As if the girl had sensed her presence. Abi moved closer and hugged Olivia tightly. Olivia smiled and closed her eyes.
"Aunt! Aunt! How much sleep!" a loud noise and then her body started shaking.
Olivia frowned and opened her eyes only to see Abi on her left shaking her head while Leo was sitting on her torso and rubbing her cheeks.
A frown appeared on her face immediately.
"Let me go! I am not in the mood to play." she glared at both of them and pushed away. As she pushed Leo, he fell on the other side of bed. He blinked and then muttering a curse, he started pushing her again.
"Aunt! This is an emergency. How could you be in the mood of sleeping." he shouted again and again until she was forced to sit.
Olivia glared at the knights.
"What is it? Did the manor is burning or your mother decided to.." she paused abruptly realizing the kids were still young.
"Why are you in a hurry?" she asked with more patience this time as she rubbed her eyes.
"It is not about mother. It is about brother Damon. He had sent you betrothal gifts. But how could he! You are his aunt too."
"He did what?"
