Chapter 86: I Am Doomed

Damon was sure about one thing. Olivia lacks self awareness. The more he stared at her huddled figure sleeping on the other seat of the carriage without a care, the more he was sure that she did not care about a thing in the world when it comes to her sleep.

She had forgotten that he was annoyed. She had forgotten that he was a man and she was a woman. She had even forgotten her plunging neckline.

He took another deep breath to control himself and look away. But his eyes fell on her again. She had folded her legs so she could dress and ride up. He could see her bare knees. that pair of long and slender legs kept creeping its way back into his sight.

To distract himself Damon opened the file and started working on it. It was the report he had to submit about the war. The attacks and defence and how much he had spent on it. The lives and properties suffered and the overall budget of the war.

It is for getting a refund for the knights and for the future record. Each line written in it would be checked not only by the ducal family but by the royal family. It was an important document.

Surely, he would not be distracted if he would work on it, right? In the start, he read the line carefully, but as the time passed the number of times his eyes kept drifting towards Olivia’s thighs quickly increased.

After the tenth or eleventh time that his gaze fell on her thighs, he shook his head and started writing the next paragraph in the file.

Though the thin walls the incessant chattering of his knight continued to fall in his ears. They were talking about the resources of the royal palace. While he visited his majesty, the knights were taken to the royal training grounds. They must have been impressed by their resources. They were discussing those resources. However, he didn’t have the mental capacity to pay attention to what they were saying.

Their resources! Olivia was good at collecting resources. He did not know she could recognize herbs and make incense sticks.

"My lord! My lord!" The knocking on the carriage filled his ears and Damon finally recovered from his daze and quickly tore his eyes away from her thighs. With the knights staring at him, his attention was back on the real world.

"What is it?" he asked in a cold voice befitting him.

"My lord, the horses are exhausted. How about we take a small break for them to drink water and eat. And we will eat in the meanwhile too." Damon looked at the horses and then nodded with a grim face. As if they were afraid that Damon would refuse.

"There is a good inn ahead. The lady could have a meal there too and you can get some rest too, my lord."

"You can all take a break. The lady is already sleeping and I am not hungry. I will stay in the carriage but you can go ahead and have your meal in the inn." The men were relieved and nodded at once when they noticed papers in his hands.

Their respect for Damon only increased. Damon was working even in the carriage for their welfare. So what if the royal palace had more resources. Would anyone care about them like this in the royal palace?

The carriage soon stopped and Olivia’s body was not swaying anymore.

He told himself that he was only looking at her because she was moving continuously. Now that she had stopped, he would be able to concentrate more. But... for some reason, his eyes inadvertently drifted to her once more. The gown left nothing for the imagination. A good part of her cleavage could be seen.he could still roughly make out her beautiful figure. Those plump... plump! Plump what! Your brain?! Damon shook with shock. Had he lost all his reasonability just because a woman was sleeping in front of him and he could see her bare skin.

What kind of a promiscuous man he was? He should be ashamed of himself. Damon berated himself in his heart.

Yet His eyes stared at her pale and slender neck for a moment before gradually moving down to her half-revealed cleavage.

Under the reflection of the moon’s lighting, her skin looked so smooth that there wasn’t the slightest pore to be seen.

Staring at it intently, Damon suddenly felt a tightness in his throat.

For some reason, the air in the carriage seemed to be getting thinner and thinner, and his breathing grew increasingly labored.

Damon had no idea how much time had passed, but he was finally able to hear some voices in his ear once more.

Without saying a word, he slowly shifted his gaze away from her thighs and returned his gaze outside. The horses were neighing loudly as if informing that they had their fill.

Damon sighed and stared at the innocent beings. Not at all worried about earthly desires. He was only starting when he noticed the mare raised its tail and the stallion walked closer to nuzzle her.

Damon’s eyes flickered and he instantly closed the opened curtains. Even his ears were burning with heat.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath but when he opened them, his eyes had already drifted uncontrollably to Olivia’s face once more.

In order to stop himself from looking at her, he chose to lie down on the seat like her and close his eyes. Damon put the file aside and followed her actions.

Yet, barely half a minute after he managed to empty his mind, those long and slender legs of Olivia managed to creep their way into his thoughts.

Damon instantly felt dryness in his mouth, an anxiously leaping heart, a heat devouring his body...

With his eyes tightly closed, Damon took deep breaths, only to feel his mouth grow even drier, his heart started beating even more furiously, and a greater heat consumed his entirety.

Calm down, calm down! He had a mission to complete, he had ambitions in his life and his ambitions were... Olivia’s legs!

"Dear Christ! I am doomed!"
