Chapter 175: You Love Her!
Chapter 175: You Love Her!
"You have finally come." Rhistel smiled but his eyes narrowed when he saw a group behind him.
"Duke Rhistel!" Shaya smiled with a sly look in her eyes.
"Princess Shaya! I have never expected to see you here." Olivia felt like she could finally breathe in the room.
She had never felt this better after seeing Damon. Looking at her relieved face, Damon’s anger subsided.
He walked to her and placed a hand on her back.
"Were you entertaining the guest for a long time?" His voice is soft, intimate like a husband caring for his wife. She stiffened. "You did well. I will handle it from here." His voice was so caring that the tense feeling started to leave her.
She hesitated, "my sister and leo.."
"I will take care of it too." he assured. Olivia was surprised that she trusted him. She nodded and left the room.
Rhistel watched her leaving with flickering eyes. The moment Butler closed the door behind her, Damon reached for his dagger and placed it on Rhistel’s neck.
The cold metal made Rhistel’s eyes gleam and a cold sadistic smile appeared on his lips.
"You have changed, Damon. You were too humble, almost pleading when you sent Oriana to me. Have you ever thought that if you invite fire to you, it will burn your hands too?" his smile was almost mocking but Damon’s grip did not loosen.
"I have told you, I will take care of Olivia." he gritted his teeth and let Rhistel go.
Rhistel touched his neck where a small cut was left and a drop of blood had stained it. He touched the drop and stared at his fingers with a cold gleam before licking it.
"And you have even brought a princess to meddle in it." He turned his head to see Shaya. She had settled on the sofa comfortably and watched their clash with amused and thrilled eyes.
Feeling all eyes on her, Shaya shrugged.
"She belongs to our lands. Before anyone knows about her, she must return there." Rhistel’s peaceful cracked and his eyes narrowed with a dangerous gleam.
"To repeat what had happened in the past?" his tone was almost mocking. "And here I thought that you were in love with her."
"I am!" Damon’s voice shook everyone. They stared at him dumbfounded. Whether it was Shaya or Rhistel, they all believed that he was only fooling her to use her powers.
"You think we are that gullible." Shaya looked at Damon uneasily when Rhistel mocked him. "You are just using this tactic to win her heart first and use her. You are already manipulating her by your words." he claimed but She did not continue. She kept staring at Damon’s eyes.
She knew when a man loves a woman. She had a man following her too.
"Emotions could destroy the rare balance Damon. We do not know what else she knew and what she needed to know." Damon turned to look at Shaya. His look is full of steel.
"I do not care. We all had a deal. You will marry Oriana and provide for her and I will help you with the beast hunt in exchange for all my life. And you.." he turned to shaya, "you will sign the deal and confirm my position as the duke so i can return to my estate and Olivia will help you with her healing abilities for the upcoming plague. Nothing more, nothing less." Shaya stiffened but she knew the promise and nodded.
Rhistel watched with a dark face.
"I accepted because both were sisters! The blood should be the same. But I have already tested Oriana, she is not qualified. I want to test Olivia before leaving." He settled himself opposite Shaya.
Damon didn’t respond immediately. His jaw tightened, the tension in his posture clear.
"No," he said at last, voice like steel. "She is not some artifact for you to examine."
Rhistel chuckled, tapping the armrest of the chair lazily. "Then how would you prove she’s not the witch we’re all afraid of?"
Shaya flinched at the word. Damon’s eyes darkened.
"She’s not the blood witch."
"How do you know that?" Rhistel leaned forward. "She knows things no one else should. She walks like someone who has lived twice. She remembers, doesn’t she?"
Shaya looked at Damon sharply. Damon didn’t deny it.
"She has helped me, yes. But that doesn’t make her a witch."
Rhistel raised his hand. "Then let me test her. You may stand by her side the entire time. If she’s clean, she returns with you. If not.."
"You don’t lay a hand on her." Damon’s voice dropped low, almost feral.
"I won’t need to," Rhistel smiled, cold and cruel. "Blood answers to blood. That’s all I need. Even if you stop her, she would want to meet her sister and see if she was okay. I will bring the kids too. Could you stop her from leaving North without telling her the truth, Damon?" he challenged with a smirk.
"No, she must come to our lands and.. We all know what she is, we do not need to test it." Shaya refused to give up on the chance. "Damon, I have already completed my side of the deal. You can not go back on your words." Damon sat there holding the hilt of her sword. How he could kill both of them and end all the troubles at once.
"Olivia would attend the marriage." he said at last knowing well she would not listen to him even if he begged her. "but the kids may decide where to live. you can not force them."
"And she would return to the duke’s estate then. From there, she would help you but she would not set her feet on your lands." he looked at both of them as he announced the final verdict.
"Do not forget Rhistel, you are the keeper. You can watch the story unfold but you can not meddle on it or the curse on your family and your land would only deepen."
