He planned to treat his colleagues to a meal after his wife’s confinement period to celebrate his newfound little sweetheart.

“No, she sleeps well. It’s just that the situation could change at night.” Fang Hong worked right up until the day before her due date. “Speaking of which, I don’t know who she takes after. How can someone so small have such a temper? She fusses non-stop once she starts. You are not allowed to spoil her. Otherwise, we’ll pay the price in the future. Who’d be able to put her in her place then?” As Fang Hong looked at their daughter, she knew she wanted a girl too. She didn’t expect her wish to come true. However, it felt like Xie Jun already spoiled her too much, never setting her down once he gets home.

“Be careful, your son may accuse you of favoritism. How can anyone parent like you do? The difference in treatment between our two kids is too huge. Moreover, she’s still so small. If you spoil her like this now, will you pluck the stars from the sky for her when she gets older?” Fang Hong rendered speechless, looked at her husband in disbelief.

“Fine, you spoil her then. I’m done here,” Fang Hong had been left speechless.

“Wife, our children are our children. But the one I love most is still you.” Xie Jun turned towards his wife and gave her a kiss on the lips.

“Our child is right here. Can’t you act more appropriately?” Fang Hong blushed, exasperated by his lack of self-awareness.

“She’s still young and doesn’t understand. Go to sleep. I’ll cook some fish soup for you.” Xie Jun glanced at his daughter. The little one was sleeping soundly. After all, what could a few days old child understand?

“Alright.” Since Fang Hong’s mother was taking care of her younger brother’s child and her mother-in-law hadn’t yet arrived, Fang Hong’s confinement care fell solely onto the shoulders of her hardworking husband.

Xie Jun donned his apron and began washing the pots and pans to prepare the meal. Even though his culinary skills were nothing to write home about, he was actually well-versed in making fish soup.
