Chapter 1525: Chapter 1519: Don’t Want to Lie to Yingying_1 Chapter 1525: Chapter 1519: Don’t Want to Lie to Yingying_1 “Didn’t I tell you that the hearing of my current body is excellent? So excellent that I can hear sounds from miles away. The wolves are closing in from a hundred meters away, and if we’re not careful and draw their attention, they could be lurking there for days.” Qin Xue was afraid of exactly that.
“I guess we can gamble on your claim this time, rest well.” Seeing that Qin Xue didn’t dodge her gaze, Nangong Beiying believed that she could indeed hear distant sounds, so she stayed quiet. Rather believe it to be true than to be wrong about its nonexistence.
“Uh huh, everyone should rest now. This way we won’t make any noise or produce any light, so even if the wolves come, they won’t pay particular attention to us. We needn’t worry too much then. Yingying, what do you think of this arrangement?” Qin Xue looked at Nangong Beiying with a hopeful expression for affirmation.
“That’s a good idea, let’s sleep,” Nangong Beiying patted her head like she would a child.
“You should sleep too,” Qin Xue felt that Nangong Beiying still cared about her just like in the past, even her gesture of coaxing hadn’t changed, which she found comforting.
“Master. The wolves are here.” Right before Qin Xue was about to fall asleep, Xue Ling’s voice echoed in her mind.
“Where exactly are they?” Qin Xue sat up abruptly.
“They’re within ten metres to us,” Xue Ling retracted her divine sense.
“Xuexue, what’s wrong?” Qin Xue’s sudden movement startled Nangong Beiying.
“The wolves are here, Yingying. They’re right below us,” Qin Xue said with a stern expression.
“We heard them too, everyone stay calm and assess the situation.” Everyone understood the gravity of the situation without Qin Xue explaining, they were all straining to see what was happening outside in the moonlight.
It was challenging enough to handle one, but now there were six of them. If they were forced to fight, could they win? This concern plagued everyone, after all, the wolves were ferocious, not typical animals.
“Everyone, be quiet,” Nangong Beiying whispered.
The group watched the wolves below from their treehouse. The tree was large enough to hold such a structure. As long as they didn’t make noise, the wolves wouldn’t notice them.
They surmised that the wolves were here out of habit, having encountered humans here before, which would explain their repeated visits. Not only humans lurk for their prey, wolves do too.
Their hearts pounded as they watched the wolves continually sniffing and looking up in their direction. Did they know they were up there?
They spent the night holding their breath, playing a waiting game with the wolves until dawn. The wolves gave the tree one last glance, let out a low howl, and then left with their pack.
“Phew, that was exhausting,” Qin Xue murmured, her legs were numb from crouching all night.
“Let’s take a moment to collect ourselves and stretch. We’ll rest for half an hour before moving on,” Nangong Beiying said, understanding that they were not soldiers and needed recuperation after the stressful night.
“Alright,” everyone agreed without objection.
“Eat these pills, it will replenish your energy,” Qin Xue handed out pills that Xue Ling had given her. These were made from restorative herbs. A perfect supplement to their energy and strength for the exhausted group.
“Thank you, Miss,” everyone took the pills without questioning, thanked her, and immediately put them into their mouths. A mild medicinal taste filled their mouths, and within about a minute, they all felt warm and much more relaxed.
“These are really effective, Miss,” Qing Teng was astonished she’d never encountered such beneficial items before and felt that her luck had spiked today.
